This years Dunk Contest.
would like to see that too.
btw, here is the article
LeBron is on a Santa's wish list for Christmas to be in the contest he's like the present you will always want such as a bb gun but you will never get it.
Budinger is a great athlete who I thought from his college days would be a dunk contest natural but his range of dunks hasn't been that great yet but I'd love to see him involved.
Blake Griffin could well be a contender but will likely be in the rookie game so the NBA might look to spread the field a bit wider. You could have the ultimate dunk challenge by getting J-Rich, Nate, Dwight Howard all back perhaps? DeRozan went close this year so could get an invite back and Terence Williams would be entertaining!
Last Year's Dunk Contest was the Worst Ever!!!
and we all are sick of krypto-nate's lame ass spud webb imitation and his 100 attempts
4 NBA players and grab 4 guys that are not in the NBA and have a 4v4 dunk contest. There has got to be some sick athletes that are not in the NBA that would be fun to watch and you would never get to see them aside from maybe a shotty youtube video.
I would like to see Sonny Weems or DeMar Derozan in it, but Im sure you all know that...
LeBron James
Blake Griffin
Derrick Rose
DeMar Derozan
Thats would make me happy.
BTW I think Rudeboy is right...everyone is sick of Nates shananigans. Last year Nate and Demars dunk contest was settles by voting and fans voted 51% for Nate and 49% for DeMar. So Nate either won because he has 2% more fans due to his national exposure, or because the NBA fixed the voting!
DRose & Nick Young!!!!!
Aren't Iguodala and Gay going again this year? I remember hearing talks about that during the world championships... I would like to see those too more so than anyone who would actually be a realistic contestant
Rookie participant would have to be Wes Johnson. I can't believe no one mentioned him! I've seen some nasty dunks from him already this season. I think it is a toss up between him and Blake for me.
what are you guys thinking? talking bout putting Griffin in the dunk contest!!
Griffin Attacks the basket with so much fury he's bound to hurt himself!!!
After all he is capable of being in the contest, last time I checked he ACTUALLY WON the McDonald's contest against Beasley.
I'm tired of hoping the good dunkers in the NBA will compete. Again this year will be a list of rookies and soph's who can kind of dunk. The best hope is for John Wall to participate. Forget about LeBron entering, he will never do it. Also you can forget about Blake Griffin with his knee surgery the Clips will never let him enter the dunk contest with the investment they have in him. The dunk contest just isn't what it used to be.

Josh Smith, Iggy, Weems?
When will Nick Young ever enter? He is 1 of the best I have seen so far.
Another name to throw out there is Terrico White, this man AMAZED me at the rookie shoot.
RUSSEL WESTBROOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm dying to see him in a dunk contest dude is sick.
I still wanna see Iggy get revenge in the dunk contest after losing to nate "100 attempts per dunk" robinson that was so cheezy.
Gay needs to be in another too.
Bill Walker
Wes Johnson
Blake
Thad Young
Hakim Warrick
Eric Gordon
iggy was robbed, it was a travesty, a sham and a mockery. it was a traveshamockery.
nate made 1 out of about 16 attempts and won!!?! iggy was easily the best dunk contest dunker since j rich in 2003 and the best since. dwight was always just a beast but he has run out of stuff. and nate had some nice ones but his career field goal percentage in the dunk contest has to be under 40%.
best case scenario we get iggy, j smoove, d rose and nick young.
worst case- demar derozan, terrence williams, john wall, and terico white(probably not the worst case but i mean the big names wont be in it)
Yeah Iggy was ripped off and I still think that behind the back board reverse alley oop that A.I. threw was the best dunk in the history of the contest. Dude jumped from behind the back board and almost hit his head on it.
I saw a video of Nick Young saying that he would enter the 2011 dunk contest on youtube(the video also had some nice dunk attempts), but I'm not sure if he's serious or not.
I seen it too before, but how many times have guys said they would enter & not participate? LeBron is the biggest dissapointment.
I actually don't think Lebron would be all that good. He is much more of an in game dunker. He impressed me in the McDonald's All American Game Dunk Contest, but that was only because he could jump so high. I think Gerald Henderson might be able to do pretty well in the dunk contest.
I agree Im Your Father. I don't think LeBron would be all that good in the Dunk Contest, but I just want to see him participate so he can put his HUGE ego aside and see what kind of dunks he can do against other dunkers. LeBron is much more of a power dunker and it's exciting to watch in games because he dunks with SO MUCH authority, but it wouldn't be that exciting to watch in a dunk contest because he isn't really creative.
ya, iggys dunk ranks in the top 5 most likely, u have to consider kiss the rim(jordan), vince carter 360 windmill, j rich off the glass between the legs and between the legs reverse(2003). but you get the point.
and ive seen a video of nick young with a 360 behind the back dunk that was insane!! if he has anything else similar in his arsenal he should be in it.
and i agree about lebron. even in the hs dunk contest all he did was jump high(which is impressive in hs) but he cant really spin or anything like that. plus with him being lebron, anything close to average will be a bigger disappointment than someone like eric gordon doing it. people would expect circus type stuff that he simply cant do.
and even tho lebron won the mcdonalds dunk contest, shannon brown had easily the best dunk.
So you want him to participate so he can lose? That's what I don't understand, I don't think Lebron really has a lot of great contest Dunks in his arsenal, he is a fantastic in game dunker but I doubt it would translate. I'd rather see someone like Henderson who has proven to be a good contest dunker. Rodney Carney would be another good one. I think someone already mentioned Terrico White, but he'd be a good one too.
Nick Young has wanted to do the dunk contest every year he's been in the league but has never gotten a call from the NBA. I guess they don't see him as a big enough name or a rising star to put him in there.
How about a dunk contest in a HORSE competition where you get 2 or 3 tries to duplicate another guys dunk, and if you don't, you will get a letter. It would make it more competitive and it would be fun to see what guys can or cannot do.
How about a team dunk contest where they get 2 or 3 representatives from 3 or 4 teams and they get like 5 minutes to put on a show. For example:
Team Toronto- Derozan, Weems, and Amir Johnson.
Team Indiana- George, Stephenson, and McRoberts
Team New Jersey- Damion James, T-Will, and Favors
Team Philadelphia- Iggy, Speights, and Turner
Team Washington- Wall, Young, McGee
Team Clippers- Gordon, Griffin, and Jordan
Team OKC- Westbrook, Ibaka, and White
also that Horse/Dunk Contest Idea is good...That should be brought up to the NBA...But you need to Have have Five guys...Lou-Holiday-Turner-Iggy-THad...I'd like to see a Fusion of THe Skills Competition/Horse/Dunk Contest...Best five athletes/skill players on your team battle it on one night for the fans votes...that why unknown nBa talent is put display all all star weekend,,,you'd have a 2 day Contest of who's the most exiting/skilled Team in the NBA...That leading up the All Star Game could save the League...If people were reminded of the talent all around the Nba ...wow...
he would win for sure!!!!!!!!!
If Dwight Howard didn't want to enter again then having another genuine big in would give the contest a good mix, Derrick Favours is always talked about as a great athlete and as a high profile rookie he could be considered alongside Blake Griffin. Ibaka or McGee could be legit options with their size or how about one of the heavyweight guys like Cousins or Sexy Dexy for a bit of fun, some hoop bending would be entertaining.

I just read an article about Budinger unexpectably doing well last season, and that has made him set higher personal goals. He mentions he would love to be in the dunk contest.
In light of this, who would you like to see in the dunk contest this year?
I would like to see Budinger,
Shannon Brown- i felt like he didnt put enough thought in to his last year, dude is rediculously athletic.
Lebron- if that will happen.
Blake Griffin. Loving his above the rim game he has been showing so far.
