WTF is up with Ron Harper

http://www.worldstarhiphop.com/videos/video.php?v=wshhr0162FltK9g9fVU4

Has this been a life long problem for him, because I don't remember seeing him in an interview with this problem.

He sound worst than the boxer from Harlem Nights.

Harper has always struggled

Harper unfortunately grew up with a speech problem, this has always been a issue for him. I dont think it is indicative of his intelligence, the has a speech problem. Rose is a great player, but I dont think he is the brightest crayon in the box, still the worst person to interview in the league by far.

Dude he's had a speech

Dude he's had a speech problem his whole life, something he worked really hard to improve. His speech did get better as he got older and a lot of his interviews with the Bulls weren't all that bad. I don't even want to listen to any of his interviews where his speech problem is obvious because it's pretty sad when he is struggling to talk. The man has a f*cking disability and you're on nbadraft.net forum blasting the guy, cmon. I'm sure you're the most well spoken individual memphis_tyga.....

Ron Harper

Easy ya'll...Ron was born with speech impediment. Since his arrival into the League with The Cleveland Cavs in the 1986 Draft, he has been working on resolving the issue, especially in public interviews. Hell, have you heard Kenyon Martin after a game? Just sayin...

If you read my opening post I asked was this a life long problem. Then I went and found a Bulls interview where he was speaking fine, which indicated to me that this was something that just recently happened to him.

Yeah, maybe he was slightly perturbed about you writing a post called "WTF is wrong with Ron Harper". Always good to make fun of something before knowing whether it is actually a problem......

But, I did not really know either, I always remember him sort of speaking with a lisp, but never a heavy stutter. Than again, he never said much, and I am sure sometimes it is better than others. I looked up Ron Harper and the stutter and found this interesting list of famous people who have had stammers:

http://www.mnsu.edu/comdis/kuster/famous/famouspws.html

Lists Kenyon Martin, Bob "Butterbean" Love (former Chicago Bulls player, who had a heavy stutter), and of course Bill Walton, who used to have a heavy stutter for the longest time. I always feel bad for people who stutter, it has to be so difficult. Speech impediments must make you feel self-conscious, but at the same time many have overcome them to do great things and improve their speech. I think stupid @ss people like those laughing at Ron Harper though, are freaking morons. Always great to be ignorant rather than actually research things though. Talking more about them than you, but nonetheless it could never have hurt to look into it a bit more rather than post a video of morons laughing at Ron Harper's speech impediment.

Good man

Glad you do. I remember reading in SLAM way back when that someone who was a ball boy saying Ron Harper was a "dick". Well, that might be a big reason why. I guess it shows that you have to give some people the benefit of the doubt at times. A lot of these guys probably have a hard time letting people in and are really shy, I think Derrick Rose fits into that category. They are young kids, and they are most used to being talked too than actually talking themselves. Still, while I always heard that Ron Harper was kind of a mean guy, it could have been a whole different issue. Definitely makes you think.

There is a difference between

There is a difference between being shy and having S.A.D, i think drose is just humble and shy and doesnt really like being the center of attention other then basketball. You always hear announcers say he has to be more acceptance of respect rather then passing the credit along to other people.

That was the same video I was referring to when I was replying to TOL23 about athletes images a week ago on the Joakim Noah thread. It was more footage to that when Rose & Wale were on the tour bus before the concert, where Wale was acknowledging Rose could not speak really because of his image & him being around a rapper.
