WTF are the Wolves doing?
Its painfully obvious they are moving down to select Chu Chu Maduabum
GS gets JEREMY TYLER...j west is a genuius...i LOVE that
I'm so confused on what they're doing...I don't even know who they actually have from this draft other than DWilliams. They're selecting all these euro guys that we know nothing about, The Wolves are looking more and more like a soccer team.
I think they're going to take Borat with their next pick.
Then i think they're trading down to get Bruno
The wolves started with the 20th pick and keep trading down and ended up with the 31st and some change. Weird
Standard Wolves procedure.
They can't draft a bunch of 1st rounders so they get a few int'l players that they can stash for now and hope to build some value. Very young team that can't afford to have more rookies right now.
the Lakers read your mind.
Glen Taylor's minority owners won't help pay for Rambis' buyout so by trading down they're making sure they're getting cash in every deal. He's cheap, the guy they took at the end of the 2nd Round was mentioned by DX a week or two ago as a sleeper and that the Wolves, Pete Philo, and Tony Ronzone were the only team that knew about him, their Euro scouting staff has always been heralded.
Get Ellington out of there, please.
If that's true, that puts Taylor at an almost Sterling-like level. He should sell the team if he's that worried about money. Why in the hell is he worried about money, anyways? The dude's worth like over $500 million.
but it's not necessarily like they have liquid capital to spend all the time, for the most part, their money is tied up in other interests, for Taylor, it's tied up in his huge company, Taylor Corp, in Mankato, MN. This is a big reason he has minority investors, to take the financial burden off him, more or less, the Wolves are a hobby for Taylor, albeit a half a billion dollar hobby, the Lynx as well too, and you know damn well they're not making money. These guys are bilionaires for a reason, they're businessmen, they don't want to lose money, especially for their mistakes, they'd rather have it paid on someone else's dime. At #20, and unable to swing a deal for Alec Burks, who they were trying to get the Jazz to draft and trade Raja Bell to them for #20 and Jonny Flynn, but maybe the Wolves didn't have the player the Jazz coveted when they were there at 20 and decided to financially make the most out of the pick, getting Millions to pay Rambis' contract, collecting a First Round Pick in 2013 (Hopefully Memphis plateaus, unlikely, but..), two second round picks that were used on players they liked, Malcolm Lee and Tanguy Ngombo, and dropped $3M in salary by trading Flynn and waiving Brad Miller's contract.
more, plus they didn't want to pay Rambis, he was by far the worst coach the Wolves have ever had, that's not saying he's a terrible coach, just an awful fit. Nobody was willing to give them more value for Motiejunas at 20 than what Houston gave them, and they were targeting Lee all along, some gave him a first round grade, I haven't seen enough of him play to give him a fair eval, but what can he do at the pro level?

Is there any good reason for them to be trading down so many times?
