TRC1991ParticipantOnly Sam Hinkie!
Dude is running in circles…
I feel terrible for 6ers fans. He literally has no idea what he’s doing.

HaleParticipantAll signs pointed to McDaniels leaving this offseason due to his unique deal. The 76ers traded him because they didn’t want to lose him for nothing. MCW? That one I’m not sure about.

XYRYXParticipantYep that is really not a good move by the Sixers. Hinkie seems to be obsessed with his draft picks.
I really would like to know what he has to show when the dealine is over after already bringing in the infamous Javele.

butidonthavemoneyIf he got that Lakers pick I wouldn’t say it was a bad deal.
No confirmation on that, but even with top-5 protection I think that pick has more value than Carter-Williams and McDaniels at the moment.

mgreener_34ParticipantScrew the fans, I feel bad for the players. KJ was looking like a nice piece, and they just gave him away for nothing. If Hinkie doesn’t watch out, he’s going to blacklist himself and Philly from ever being a free-agent destination, or a place people would want to resign. Players do not take this type of disloyalty lightly

TimberTrollParticipantThe 76’ers are getting the Laker’s top 5 protected pick via Phoenix. The pick is top 3 protected in 2016 and 2017, and unprotected in 2018. This is a bold move, but I like it. It opens up the possibility of drafting Emanuel Mudiay this year.

Philly grab Mudiay and Hezonja

butidonthavemoneyOr Russell, Johnson, and Booker.
It’s easy to dream on how the 76ers could really make out this offseason.
A shameless rebuild, in any case.

XYRYXParticipantThat is a very best case scenario for the Sixers. If Stern would still run this league I would have no doubt he would take care that the Lakers keep it in the lottery and don’t reward Hinkie with this crazy pick collecting and I still have faith Silver is a good guy too…
Honestly how crazy is Hinkie? This might even work out for him but you can’t assamble a team this way with a Winners mentality not to mention the fans or players who have been screwed here. They won’t attract any FA with significance any time soon.

King CaluchaParticipantKJ was going to demand a lot of money this offseason. Hinkie felt spending money at this moment was unhealthy for the finances of the team.
Now about MCW… I don’t agree with this, but I kinda understand his thought process. Embiid and Noel are going to start being really productive in 2 seasons. By then he can start filling the roster in the backcourt. Not everyone was high on MCW, so in the worst case scenario, Isiah Thomas puts 20+ppg next season and he gets another 1st round pick.
Edit: Also, he’s assuming nobody is going to Philly through free agency unless there are two proven stars. One of them is supposed to be Embiid… he didn’t think MCW would be the other one.

King CaluchaParticipantEdit 2: I thought they were getting Isiah Thomas in this trade. Trading MCW for the Lakers pick is a huge risk… they’re not getting it this season.

XYRYXParticipantI agree and don’t agree here.
The Sixers are like 20 million under the cap and and this wouldn’t hurt them financially at all to spend some money for someone like McDaniels who won’t get more than 6 million from an team in my opinion.
Mcw has his flaws but he hasn’t played with guys who can knock down shots at all or a post presence like Embiid and all for guys like Mudiay or Russell or whoever they want to draft now.
To me this kind of rebuild is even worse than the whole tanking thing. This clearly means they are going to rebuild for even more years now and who the hell wants to play for a team who hasn’t shown any kind of loyality to their guys?
I’m happy to see MCW in a win now situation and the Bucks are one of my favorite teams now to watch!

MadDogParticipantRight now the Lakers have the 4th best record with Orlando and Sacramento above them. It’s very hard to see their records improving over that of those two teams so for Philly to get this pick two teams would have to jump into the top 3. The KJ trade I kind of understand (no chance he was resigning there after the hardball they played with his contract – but maybe they should of taken the chance over shipping him for Cannan) but the MCW trade? I’d rather progress with some of the pieces we have now than just repeatedly starting from scratch.

Pistol Pete. The PelicanParticipantI think we all knew he wanted to move on from MCW, but next year he can get Russell (my favorite player in the draft) or Mudiay.
On the other hand, I really love MCW getting to go and learn from Jason Kidd, a player he has been previously compared to. I think he’s the type/he can be the type of point guard Kidd wants, surrounding Jabari and Giannis next year. Tyler Ennis also fits the mold.

Magic JordanParticipantYou all wanted to move on from MCW? He has been in the league 1 and a half seasons lol. You don’t even know what he could be yet. Some of you Philly fans are unbelievable. Lakers have been bad for 2 seasons and it absolutely driving me crazy. Philly is looking at a decade long rebuild here and some of the fans are loving it! Like they are playing 2k! I guess that’s the difference between a championship organization… and one that’s not. I am hoping the basketball gods are watching what Hinkie is doing and he drops 3 spots in the lottery every year for the next 5. Fuck this guy Hinkie.
Do we even know if he is a good talent evalulator at this point? He trades everybody so clearly he isn’t even impressed with himself. And you guys still have faith?

Pistol Pete. The PelicanParticipantUmm I’m not a 6ers fan, hiWe all heard the rumors of MCW maybe getting moved before the draft, then we actually thought he got moved but it wa really Elfrid Payton for Dario Saric. There have been rumors about him the past 2 years. Now I don’t know if what Hinkie is doing the right thing, I’m not sure he even knows what he is doing, but I do know, that MCW has been rumored to be on the trade block for the past 9 months or so…

Ebown5ParticipantI’m a Sixers fan and my jaw was on the floor today.
McDaniels I don’t care about. He is a great athlete without a lot of skill, and with the emergence of Grant and the acquisition of Covington, I don’t mind losing him at all. I know nothing about the guy we got for him, but I don’t mind losing him.
With MCW, I always said that I didn’t mind the idea of trading him, but only if we had a better option. Now Mudiay is a better option of course, but there is no garantee that we get him so it is a bit of a risk.
Of course, getting that Lakers pick is terrific value for him, even if we don’t get it this year, and we most likely won’t.
We stole the other first rounder for taking Magee so that was a no brainer.
In the end, I trust Hinkie. It all comes down to Embiid’s health no matter what. If he is healthy he is our franchise. If he isn’t then we have virtually nothing and at least have lots of picks to try to find our franchise.
