Would Jameer Nelson for Jason Thompson be a good trade?

Earlier this season the Kings tried to talk the Hawks into accepting a trade of Jason Thompson for Jeff Teague, but were turned down...With the recent trade the Magic made..They now have 4 point guards...Letting Gortat go,left them without a reliable backup big man in case Howard gets hurts..

Maybe the Magic will look into making a deal of Nelson for Thompson..I thought Thompson would be 1 of the league's most improved players..But he's been a disappointment....

Seriously

Honestly, are you serious??????? Thompson is terrible, why would the magic ever do this? Nelson is actually a good player- a former all-star, and averaging 7 assists a game! Thompson can't even start for his own team. Thompson is averaging 7 points a game, and currently losing time to carl landry on a 25 win team.

I see your reasoning here- getting Gilbert, the magic have to trade away Jameer. They can't play together, and you can't give both of them 25-30 minutes on the same team. They probably will trade jameer sometime. However, Jameer is a young former all-star, they should be able to get something pretty good for him.

I mean the Kings couldn't get Jeff Teague for him, how do you expect they can get Jameer Nelson?

Yeah I think they could get better than Thompson too

Maybe Duhon for Thompson. I am not hating on Jameer I think he is a good player I just have seen him in the playoffs verse the elite teams and PG and he is not the answer in the 7 game series for the Magic. I do like him next to Reke agreed, but the Kings will have to throw someone else in for Nelson. I like Jameer's scoring but seriously he is not an allstar player. I think some injuries got him in there.

You guys are crazy down

You guys are crazy down talking Meer Meer like this this. The Magic have been one of the elite in the East since Jameer came out his shell. The year they went to the finals they were really missing Jameer to the point they had him play hurt at like 50% in the finals. All anybody remembers is Fisher hitting that shot but they forget that Nelson scored like 8 points in the 2 minutes before that. Jameer Nelson tore up Ray Felton last year too in the playoffs. Nelson is a leader and a winner. He always has been. He is a true difference maker on the court. No way would the Magic do that trade. Why do you think Areans and has 100billion dollar contract is not starting? Cuz Jameer is the little motor that really runs that team. Jameer like Andre Miller is somebody you got to watch play to appreciate his value because his stats do not tell the whole story.

Horrible trade. Thompson

Horrible trade. Thompson hasn't done anything of note for his career. Some may not like Jameer (don't understand why seeing as he is a former allstar and has been consistently good for his career) but he is a very good player. He may not get assists like some may not like but people who are talking about trading him are not taking into account what you lose once he is traded

Oh but Jameer and Reke would

Oh but Jameer and Reke would be perfect together I think a package of Udrih and Thompson for Nelson would get her done. That would be an even trade for both team and make the Magic even deeper.

i dont think the magic want

i dont think the magic want to trade jameer. i think he and dwight are very good friends and it maight upset d12. and jameer is a 15 and 6 guy at minimum whereas thompson is an ok starter and good bench player. not to mention whoever is backing up howard is only going to be getting about 10 minutes a game. no i think orlando trades maybe a second rounder for a tony battie or someone like that.

Lake Show summed it up

Lake Show summed it up nicely. You guys fail to realize that Jameer Nelson has won everywhere he has been including being the catalyst for a St. Joe's team in college that went undefeated until the final four where they were overmatched in size to OCK ST. That team featured only Nelson and Delonte West and them 2 ran over everybody in college ball that year. Even the year before Jameer lead his team to the tourney. He started putting up good numbers from the moment he started getting consistent minutes for the Magic. Nelson is the definition of the LEAD GUARD. Sure he doesn't get the assists but that is mainly a product of the Magic's swing perimeter system where they are always making the extra pass. There is no denying Nelson's passing ability being able to thread needles.

I think the best trade on the

I think the best trade on the table that the Magic can do is trade Jason Richardson and Ryan Anderson and a future 1st rounder for Iggy, Mo Speights, and Tony Battie.

Nelson/ Duhon

Arenas/ Redick

Iggy/ Hedo

Bass/Speights

Howard/Battie

This would make the Magic 2 deep at every position and give them even better perimeter defense. After trading Pietrus they don't really have any perimeter defenders for other swing men now. Plus the Magic biggest problem being 3 point happy only increased bringing J Rich and Arenas into the fold 2 gunners. By getting Iggy you solve both of these problems. Plus imagine Iggy and Howard running down the court on a fast break that is a frightening sight. The Magic could also go big by starting Arenas, Iggy, Hedo, Bass, and Howard. Iggy is so versatile he fits into anyway the Magic wanna play. Plus his 6 assists per game would be a welcome addition to that Magic team needing more ball movement.

Nelson and Howard are best friends so any deals involving Nelson will no doubt get vetoed by Howard who controls that franchise as he should.

Nelson for Thompson would not

Nelson for Thompson would not be a good deal, Nelson is worth a lot more than that easily.
