Would Blake Griffin be the top pick in the draft if?

I love Blake Griffin's game and all, but lets say if Derrick Rose, O.J. Mayo, Michael Beasley, and Eric Gordon stuck around where would Blake be in the draft? I feel Rose would still be 1 while Mayo would be pumped up to second. I then would probably put Griffin 3rd. what do you guys think

Yeaa I agree with you it

Yeaa I agree with you it looks like Heat should of and if they could go back probably wished they did take Mayo. Beasley just looks too small to bang down low in the NBA. I hope Griffin doesnt shrink from 6-10 to 6-8 and a quarter when measurments come out.

1,2,3

I believe it would go like this: 1. Derrick Rose 2. OJ Mayo 3. Beasley or Griffin could compete for it, but probably Beasley.

griffin

Stevedot he put his name in but if you look at his stats from last year compared to this year, you know that he would have been a low pick last year. And lets just say we did not know how good OJ Beasley and DRose are going to do, I would for sure put Griffin over OJ. You can say what you want but OJ did not dominate players like Blake does. Beasley yeah he and Rose would probably go over Blake because Beasley had a great year and DRose is what the bulls needed. But it would definetly go Rose,Beasley,Blake, then OJ. But if we knew that OJ Rose and Beasley would be having what they have now than I would have 1. Rose 2. OJ 3. Blake 4. Beasley

I think beasley will a 20 10 guy next season. Everybody expected so much from him that they are giving up too early. He has to defend better and rebound like he did in college to improve his game though, easier said than done maybe.I think griffin wouldve been the last pick out of rose mayo and beasley though,

If the draft was redone today with Blake Griffin.

1.Rose 2. Brook Lopez 3. Russell Westbrook 4. Beasley 5. Blake Griffin 6. OJ Mayo 7. Kevin Love 8. Augustine 9. Eric Gordon 10. Bayless - would be higher if he played more. At least 8 of these players will be multiple all star game invitees, I'd say Love and Augustine might be the odd men out. They'll both be very good players, they just won't have the high scoring numbers to give them their true recognition I love Mayo's productivity this year and his shot off the dribble is amazing, I just don't think he has that high of a ceiling because he's not able to dominate athletically like Rose, Westbrook, Bayless, and Gordon. Gordon and Bayless are still enigmas though. Gordon looks to have a slight indifference to playing physical basketball even though he's built like a bowling ball with a forty inch vertical, his rebounding numbers and lack of free throw attemtps will definitely attest to that. Bayless just hasn't played enough to be considered a lock for super stardom, and like Gordon he has the physical tools to dominate, but unlike Gordon he has the mentality to dominate too. Mayo's a great shooter, much like Ben Gordon or at the very best Mitch Richmond. He will score wherever he wants to on the floor except in the paint, he just doesn't have the athleticism to dominate physically on the inside. His 2-to-1 ratio of three point attempts to free throw attempts will definitely attest to that, although I will admit it has gotten better. He's a player that's destined for stardom as a result of his numbers and personality, not because of his winning record, much like Stephon Marbury. I put Lopez at the number 2 spot because of how rare players his age, his size, and that play his position produce at the rate he does. Although he doesn't look the most graceful doing it, he's still producing a double double or very close to a double double every game, the nbadraft.net Brad Daugherty comparison is looking pretty close. K-Love definitely won't wow you with his quickness or athleticism, but he always finds a way to be around the ball. His defense isn't terrible, it's not great by any means, but you can see he wants to put in the time to get better. For a guy that's only 6 feet 9.5 inches in shoes with a 6 foot 11 inch wingspan averaging 18 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per 48 minutes isn't too bad. His love, intelligence and passion for the game are what's going to make him a great player, by no means a superstar, but between a star and a very good role player, a Wes Unseld-Bill Laimbeer comparison isn't totally out of the question. As of right now it's pretty definitive that Blake Griffin has a long, illustrious career ahead of him in the League. With the possible exceptions of Brandon Jennings and James Harden he's probably the only lock for stardom in this upcoming draft. I absolutely love Harden, I just think he's an extremely good complimentary player, but a star in every way, much like Caron Butler and Paul Pierce. Griffin's quickness and athleticism really give me a nostalgic feeling of seeing Shawn Kemp play in the early to middle 90s. This really rings true with his quickness in the open floor, but with Kemp as well as Griffin they're players that need a great PG to run with to meet their extremely high ceilings, much like A'mare too.

ARE YOU CRAZY???????/

I'm sorry, but Shawn Kemp would tear little Blake Griffin to pieces...do you know how good Shawn Kemp was during his prime? PLEASE...Blake would be lucky to be half the player of Shawn...And Lopez #2? Lol he plays for a crap team and puts up decent stats...he will be lucky to be an all-star once in his career. Btw, last time I checked O.J. Mayo is twice the player everybody is becides Rose.

If they were all playing this year I doubt any of their numbers would have went up much. I still think Griffin would be a top 2 pick. Mayo probably would have slipped because his game is better fit for the league. The hype machine would have went nuts for beasley if he would have stayed for sure. I just think its hard to take anyone over Griffin with how dominant he has been this season.

Beasley would be

Beasley would be averaging more than 20 with the knicks or suns..Miami sysmtem is limiting him, but i agree with the defensive liabilities.

To blanco diablo.. check gordons free throws attempts lately... you will have a surprise.. ( i agree with you in the deficiency in the rebounding department) but i think gordon will be one of the scorer leaders in a couple of years.

Griffin will be a Shawn Kemp type of player, explosive... and i think he will measure 6 8" without shoes or even 6 7 1/2 but 6 9 in shoes

my draft 1.Rose ( he is just awesome, imagine if he develops a more consistent jumpshot) 2. Oj Mayo 3. Gordon 4. Westbrook 5. Griffin 6. Lopez 7. Randolph ( wait 2 years and you will see) 8. Bayless, 9. Harden 10 . Love

so..

your trying to tell me that Miami should have taken OJ Mayo with the second pick??? That makes no sense with D Wade. Blake Griffin would help that team much more.

You all got it wrong

1)Brook Lopez-talented 7 footer
2)Blake Griffin-if he measures 6'9 without shoes he is a lock for top two.
3)Derrick Rose
4)OJ Mayo
5)Michael Beasley-his height killed him and it could hurt Blake but I think Blake is taller.

Not so fast...

Remember they are just ROOKIES. And rookies will make mistakes especially on the defensive end. Mike Beasley if he went to Memphis will be in talks for ROY. But since his coach (I think is a great idea) is making him responsible for his defense, B-Eazy doesn't get consistent PT. Westbrook and Lopez are the only rookies that plays D out of the names everyone posted (and they still get beat "ROOKIES"). If all the other rookies were on the Heat they will be in the same boat. So don't knock B-Eazy. OJ, saying his ceiling isnt high is dumb. This guys game is built for the NBA (has been since a freshman in high school). Any player that averages nearly 20 pts their rookie year is a beast and only going to get better. D Wade didn't average that much. And his athleticism is very underrated. He has a couple of dunking SC top ten (starting from summer league). OJ just like Gordon needs to take the ball to the hole, the mark of a great player is how many times you get to the line. You can't be one if you shoot jumpers all day. Now, for the actual arguement. I think Beasley and Rose will stay where they are. If Blake is the same height as beasley (which they are) then he would be 3rd ahead of OJ becuz of the numbers. Now if he is 6 10, then he would be taken at the 2nd pick. But who knows? The only reason Rose went higher than Beasley was Beasley's attitude. Maybe they would say the same for him and Blake especially if their numbers are the same. But I'm sure Beasley's jumper would help him stay at that 2nd pick ahead of Blake.
