I said this before the season and I feel more strongly about it now. The 76ers will break the record for worst record. That’s 8 wins or less. I just don’t see how this team can beat anybody.

Sam Hinkie is an embarrassment. You’d think that he’d have done SOMETHING this summer to help this team.

Brett Brown should ask for a raise.

Not a sixers fan so perhaps that allows me to have an unbiased (not right or wrong) perspective, but why is Sam Hinkie an emberrassment? What kind of help would people want? They weren’t going to get LeBron, Bosh, Parsons, Hayward, Lowry or Gortat. Why sign average role players for far more than they are worth to win an extra 8 games during the year?

If I’m a 76ers fan, I’d much rather see what K.J McDaniels and Hollis Thompson can do at a rookie minimum type contract then watch Alan Anderson or Jodie Meeks get me from an 10-15 win team to a 18-22 win squad.

The sixers were a classic "stuck in the middle" team for a long time. They were consistently decent, and would get into the playoffs as a 7 or 8 seed. After years of that, why not blow it up and go for bigger? I don’t understand why people hate this so much. Sure they are doing it to the extreme, but the NBA is a star driven league and if you can’t get one you have a ceiling. The best place to find them is at the top of the draft (not foolproof), so why not give yourself the best chance to be in that position?

People need to get over this whole tanking thing…the NBA did this by creating a culture where Free Agency and stars moving around is bigger than the actual games and competitiveness.

Why sign real NBA players? Because this is bullshite. I’m a Nets fan with season tickets. I expect all of those games to be against NBA teams. A few can be against bad NBA teams, but I shouldn’t be paying NBA prices for a game against a D-League team. Sometimes with injuries that happens. But this is intentional and now it is the second year in a row of them intentionally not spending any money on their product. But I have to pay for it. The NBA league has to share revenue from clothing sales with them. They have to share luxury cap payments with them. They have to share national TV contract money. And the Sixers are not putting out an NBA team.

Owners are going to come down on these guys.

Also this doesn’t really work. They are going to be terrible. I get it. Maybe Noel is going to work out and become a star. Nice. Guess what, next year is the last year on his rookie contract. If he is a star, the Sixers will have to pay him max contract money two years from now. So he won’t even be a bargain by the time this team is going to try to start winning games.

How exactly will the NBA come down on them? The owners just failed to pass a vote that would have changed the draft to help prevent such tanking.

As a season ticket holder for a team you shouldn’t be complaining about the way another team is building. Your money isn’t going to the Sixers. Personally I believe in the vision for the Sixers enough that I signed up for season tickets for the first time this season despite living a full 2 hours away from the arena. I know other Sixers fans who feel the same way.

It’s nice to know that the owners are committed to winning long term by this strategy. And no one can argue that, as the owners are losing potential profits by the team being this bad over an extended period. Having a talented base of players with a potential star(Embiid), loads of cap room, and extra picks in the future is a very good thing.

In a few years when the Nets are bad, after KG is done, DWill continues to fade away, and Lopez is gone with another injury, and in a terrible spot cap wise, that franchise is in trouble with the traded away picks not helping

MCW (almost back), Wroten, and Noel will click from time to time with some of the other guys and they’ll probably win only slightly less this year. If they brought back Embiid a little early (half way or so) they’d win a few more than that. The team on the floor today, however, is not an NBA team.

I said previously that Wroten would play well, but he has surprised me with how back some of his games have been.  Obviously with few other NBA players there he can get big numbers.

KJ McDaniels had something like 4 blocks and 2 steals last game, he is a draft steal.

Add Embiid, Saric, top 3 pick next draft, and with their salary space, the 76ers could be very good very soon.

They could have brought Iverson back for the fans or something silly like that.  A distraction while losing is good for those watching.  When the Spurs sat Robinson to get top pick Duncan they had old Dominique Wilkins on the floor.  Maybe the 76ers could get McGrady.

Another idea, maybe the coach really is the problem.  Bring in George Karl and maybe the 76ers make the playoffs, and maybe not this year.

They should bring back Eric Snow, AI3, Aaron Mckie and Tyrone Hill and throw Noel to play with them. I would watch. It wouldn´t get much worst than this.

I don’t know. At home they lost by 3 to Chicago, by 2 to Orlando, 11 to Houston, and then a blowout by Miami.

MCW and Noel are coming back to the lineup soon, and I think this team is probably a 14 or 15 win team. I have a hard time thinking they’ll do well on the road, but I think they’ll be able to take more than 10 games all year.

10 games would only be 25% of their home games, and I think they can do that, especially against a lot of the lower teir Eastern teams like Orlando, Mil, Indiana, Detroit and New York.

Exactly. MCW and Noel are talents and KJ McDaniels has been very good so far. Wroten is playing well right now even with the high turnovers. Guys like Hollis Thompson, Henry Sims, and Mbah a Moute are legit NBA role players. Shved has a chance to amount to that as well and even Davies has shown some hope. Plus the team has played better than expected against everyone but Toronto, with third and fourth quarter leads in every other game.

In summary- Yes they are the worst team in the game today, but this group has the ability to grind out enough wins to not be labeled the worst ever

The only upcoming opponent they vs soon that they will have a chance at is the Celtics and maybe the Spurs if they rest their players. And to the Nets fan saying about they aren’t an NBA team…. your team is the 10th worst team of all time and we are tired of being mediocre and being the 8th/9th seed and we have a plan now.

no vets will sign there for a very long time… unless they are just looking for a easy paycheck and don’t care about winning.

The Philly players are a mixed bag of low ceiling talent, high ceiling unreached potential based on the hype machine, add the injured draft picks and the lack of shooters, it is no surprise they are not scoring enough points to win.

This will be a very tough team defensively once they learn how to put it together, but with tony wroten as your 1st option followed by the likes of undrafted players or players with little offensive skill it is kind of difficult to see them getting more than 15 wins all year.

I still feel it was the Bynum/Howard/Iggy that really hurt Pilly, they lost Vucevic and Harkness in the trade, Bynum never played for them.

I always wonder who out of Philly and NOP initiated the Jrue Holiday trade as once that happened Philly went into rebuild.

Also Hinkie with 3rd pick this year had to either stick or pass on Embiid and with the team in rebuild he decided to take the guy who would have gone top 3 no question but for his injury. If Philly had been first or second pick, I’m fairly sure Hinkie would have taken Parker or Wiggins. Plus with Philly having Noel ready to go this year they could wait on Embiid.

The Elfrid Payton and Dario Saric trade works for a number of reasons, Philly owed the Magic a protected first rounder from the D12/Iggy/Bynum trade which could be conveyed into two 2nd round picks in 2018 and 2019 if Philly are still in the lottery then. With this trade Sam Hinkie got that pick back and also Magic’s 2015 second rounder. Philly owed the Heat a protected first rounder from the Arnett Moultrie deal this has now been conveyed to Boston and will effectively send the 76ers 2015 and 2016 2nd round picks to Boston. These are likely to be number 31/32 next year and something similar in 2016. So under the Saric/Payton deal Sam Hinkie effectively got back a lot which had been traded away previously.

I’m first to admit the 76ers will suck this year and may struggle to get a dozen wins but we have to give the Hinkie long term plan a couple of years. With MCW, Wrotten, Noel, Embiid and a likely top 5 pick at worse next summer the roster will suddenly look fairly decent. Saric will come over in due course and with a good young team the 76ers would be able to reach to decent FAs in due course.

I’d assume this year that Hinkie will try to accumulate trade assets by taking a salary dump or two or being the willing 3rd team in any trade deals etc.

The 76ers are way under cap so the owner has no luxury tax issues either. The Hinkie masterplan is risky but I’m prepared to give it time.
