Wolves/Rubio

Reports have come out saying the Wolves still want to move Rubio, as they hope to add three point shooting. Two questions.. What can the Wolves hope to get for Rubio and what point guard (that they can realistcally make a move for) would maximize their teams potential?

I was thinking what if they

I was thinking what if they trade Rubio and not absorb much salary in return. Than go after a guy like Lowry for 15-18 milion a year for about 2/3 year deal. They should still have about 6-8 million to spend depending on the contract of the player in which they trade for.

So they could in theory obtain whom ever via trade, obtain Lowry ad also attempt to sign another player for 6-8 million a year. That could make the team fairly competetive.

There's probably also a

There's probably also a possibility of a sign-and-trade for a guy like Lowry or Jeff Teague (who people have forgotten about, but is a solid PG who is younger than Lowry and a better shooter than Rubio). That would leave them with some room to address their PF position.

As an aside, why do teams do

As an aside, why do teams do to themselves what the Wolves have done with Rubio?

According to the reports you mentioned, it sounds like they just don't believe Rubio is a starting PG on a winning team. It's not like they're offering him as a piece in a larger deal to bring in some clearly superior player ... they just want a different point guard. They want him gone so badly that a few months ago they considered trading him for Reggie Jackson!

Maybe they're right, maybe they're wrong .. but now they pretty much have to move him, or they begin the season with a PG in whom they officially and publicly have no confidence. All 29 other teams know this and are going to drive a harder bargain now.

You'd think teams would have a protocol to keep internal stuff like this from leaking out.

Not only that, but it surely

Not only that, but it surely also affects Rubio's performance, which hurts the team and also lowers his price on the market.

They have tried some damage control saying they're happy with Rubio as a PG, but a day later they're actively involved in trade talks again. Could've at least given it a little time to make it seem like they actually are happy with Rubio.

they probably won't but just

they probably won't but just imagine how deep into the psotseason they could go next year if they landed CP3 ... wcf would not be out of the question.

If CP3 has interest they could move Rubio maybe to Orlando for Vucevic & Hezonia...would be a good haul

Kyle Lowry, Jrue Holiday,

Kyle Lowry, Jrue Holiday, Jeff Teague and George Hill are all on their Radar. Would probably trade Rubio to make room for Lowry or Jrue but Not Teague and Hill. They can come off the bench and Be 6th man of the year candidates and Keep the Offense afloat when Rubio sits but wouldn't give up Rubio for either.

Somebody needs to get all

Somebody needs to get all these guys the ball. They probably need to keep Rubio and add a veteran shooter or two like JJ Reddick or Kyle Korver.

Shaun Livingston would be an ideal backup point guard who brings size, length, veteran savvy, a pass-first mentality along with his great mid-range and post up game.

Now that Dunn has been moved maybe the should try this...

Personally I would try for one of 3 players:

Chris paul first-He has played with talented teams and knows how to get them the ball

Paul Millsap-You could run offense through Towns and Millsap and he can shoot from range

Patrick beverly-they would have to try trade for him either with a protected pick or an expiring deal(so they can go after Chris paul/big name) I would like to see a back court of Wiggins,Butler,Beverly would be one bigtime defensive backcourt..

Then I shift Rubio to the bench if the get a pg or keep starting him if they get Millsap,

Raptors

Everyone talking about Lowry leaving Toronto like it's a foregone conclusion. It may happen. It may not.

If he does leave I wouldn't mind Rubio on the Raps. Carroll can shoot the 3, as can Ibaka (if resigned).

Trade JV and resign PPatterson. That would give some shooting in an effort to cover up Demar and Rubio's lack of three point shooting.

Question is, what would it take to get Rubio from Minny?

Hypothetical of course because I hope Kyle re-signs

Would NOP fancy Rubio, he's

Would NOP fancy Rubio, he's on a reasonable salary and as a pass first PG would be ideal for AD and DMC.
