dbeal21ParticipantGoing into the draft I really don’t know who the Wolves are going to get out of the 5th pick via draft or trade. That being said I thought of this trade scenario.
Minnesota receives: Gordon Hayward
Utah receives: 5th overall pick, Shabazz Muhammed, Nikola Pekovic
After trade notable players (free agency still needs to happen)
Min
PG: Rubio
SG: Hayward+
SF: Wiggins
PF: Dieng
C: Towns
6: LaVine
7: Bjelica
8. Tyus
9. Payne
10. ?
UtahPG: Exum
SG: Burks
SF: Hood
PF: Favors
C: Gobert
6: Jamal Murray/Kris Dunn/ Buddy Hield +
7: Shabazz Muhammed+
8: Trey Burke
9: Trey Lyles
10. Nikola Pekovic+I’m not sure how I feel about this trade on either side…Utah gets the 5th pick so that’s great for them, MIN gets Hayward which is awesome, but looking at the depth chart MIN goes from thin to anorexic.

juves4783Participanti can’t imagine that utah would move the #12 pick for george hill; just to trade one of their franchise players for a higher pick.
to me, they are adding vets; not getting rid of them. on top of that, taking pekovic off of minny’s payroll would be a huge favor. $12M through 2018.

nill650Participanthill will probably be waived to clear cap and pekovic only has 2yrs left on his contract

nill650ParticipantThat trade idea seems fair if the salaries match , not sure Jazz would pull the trigger though.

dbeal21ParticipantThis trade works financially I tried it on the Trade machine. And this trade completely came from the buzz that Hayward may or may not have requested a trade. If he did this is a decent package for somebody your going to lose anyways. But if he didn’t than I agree Utah would not even consider this trade.

nill650ParticipantDefinitely a win for twolves if it happenned, Gordan and Wiggins can switch between sg/sf pretty easiliy.
I just don’t know if Utah would be interested in the one dimensional Shabbaz, would probably demand Lavine.

binetParticipantThis is not a high quality draft, pick 5 is not worth much, and the rest of the package is worthless (Shabazz is a risky bet and Pekovic a contract absorption you would have to give assets for from the team that gets him), even with Dieng and LaVine more it would not be fair because of the contract absorption of Pekovic and Shabazz is irrelevant when you get LaVine.
Not to mention the Jazz are the closest to the playoffs among the two teams (even if this should change rapidly).
I agree Minny should/will try a trade but it should involve LaVine, not only #5 on a not-so-good draft. (to those who disagree, when most mocks and analysts put seniors and international prospects going in the discussion for picks 3-5, it means a lot, when teams are ready to dump a #22 for one year of salary worth 6M also…)

BiggysmallsParticipantThat would be an amazing trade for the Wolves. Not only would they get their coveted young veteren, they’d still have money to go out and fill the bench in the offseason.
There’s no way Utah would take that deal though. Even if he is essentially on an expiring contract, that deal just doesn’t make sense for them. It’s a weak draft and Hayward is one of the best wing players in the game. Utah has a team that could get to the playoffs next year if a few things go well and Hayward is their go-to guy.

Captain LParticipantI can’t believe any of you guys are thinking the Jazz would do a deal like this or that Hayward is really unhappy and wants to leave. It’s not true and nothing with Hayward is going to happen. A number 5 pick in this weak draft isn’t worth Hayward, Hayward is a top 20 player, 20 pts, 5 Rebs, 4 assists, per game, not 10 players in the league do that.

tonyl33ParticipantThe Wolves should trade Lavin and Pek to ATL for Kyle Kover. This would be a better trade for MN and ATL.
ATL is going to loss Al Hortford in FA, Pek can help fill that void and they get Lavine who’s stock is still high two for one.
MN will get the shooting threat they need and keep their draft pick and dump Pek’s contract.
Wolves lineup
Rubio, (Draft pick), Tyus
Kover,
Wiggins, Bazz
Town, KG, Bjelica
Deing

BlueLacesParticipantWhy in the world would the Wolves trade a 21 year old Lavine who could potentially be an all-star for 35 year old Kyle Korver?

mixtape2003ParticipantATL also still has Splitter so no need for Pek. Plus you can get more for Lavine
