first thing come to my ming - nice person..
hmm hope they will draft him because i would love Cousins in Sacramento a lot.
I like this guys personality a lot.
btw, Flynn and Johnson weren't teammates in Syracuse
And yeah, Johnson seems to be a good guy, I like his play style, he has a nice overall game, good shooter, good athlete, i think he'll be just fine in the NBA,
Flynn and Johnson were teammates at practice....not during games in Johnson's transfer year
Yea Johnson was on the Cuse's practice squad, and that's when Boeheim said Johnson was the best player on that team despite Flynn, Devendorf, and Paul Harris being on the team. That's what caught my attention about Johnson.
I think it's just about a done deal that Wesley Johnson is going to Minnesota.
Johnson is not going to MN outright at the 4th Pick, I can guarantee that, if anything Cousins will be selected and will be traded to the highest bidder, hopefully for a package like Anthony Randolph and Wes Johnson. Kahn has been on numerous AM Radio shows the past couple of days here in the Twin Cities and he claims Johnson is in the same tier for them as Aminu and he said another player he won't mention, I believe it's Paul George. Look at Kahn's interview after the Johnson workout, he doesn't sound too convinced Johnson will be their pick.
Kahn's interview after Wes Johnson's workout:
I agree, after listening to Kahn and Rambis over the last week, I don't see us taking Johnson at 4. Were going to take the best player available(presumably Cousins) and then start talking trades.
Oh, I did not know that..
Johnsons an interesting guy, but does anyone thing his age will hurt his as far as potential goes? that seemed to be a concern that was brought up often earlier in the season, but I guess people realized 22-23 isnt all that old for a rookie
actually 23 is old for rookie for sure..
out of all first round picks he will probably be 29th youngest. Derrick Favors is the number 1 there. Even as a sophmore Aminu is 5th youngest. IDK in my opinion it's a pretty much big deal to pay a littlie attention.
It's old, but I don't think potential is hurt until you get into the very late 20's. Johnson can get better, but he does have a polished skill set. If he improves his ball-handling, he can be a WAY better player than he is right now, which is a little scary.
IDK if four years of college(and one of four with nothing but practices) didn't help him to become good ball-handler i have some doubts if he ever become
"IDK if four years of college(and one of four with nothing but practices) didn't help him to become good ball-handler i have some doubts if he ever become"
This is why I think Kahn has Johnson, Aminu, and presumably George in the same tier, why does Johnson still not even have a semblance of a handle with all that time practicing and playing?
didn't watch cuse that much last year, but I never watched and thought he had an awful handle... To me, they just let the PG and Rautins handle the ball primarily.
I love how 666 guarantees we wont take Wes at 4 straight up. like you have any idea
I guess you T'Wolves have given up on Turner huh...Just Trade us all your 1st rounders and throw in a Mighty Ducks DVD...That'll seal the deal...Fly Ducks Fly......Wes or Aminu...You'll settle on one of those guys over Trading those picks Away...SMH...So I guess this draft is already a bust for Kaun...
david kahn is a joke. since he can't make the t-wolves any worse than they are, he'll never get the full credit for being a crap job gm. he drafts 2 point guards with the idea of playing them together. what? stephen jackson and most shooting guards are half a foot taller than flynn and rubio. how could they ever defend them? plus, he drafts rubio who obviously doesn't want to go to minnesota. you draft the only player that can leverage his way out of ever playing for you. reminds me of fran vasquez all over again. so basically he flushed a number 5 pick down the toilet.
now for this year, if you have a top 5 pick; you don't draft someone with hopes of trading them. you draft the best fit for your team. the only way i could see this not blowing up in there faces is if they already have a deal in place. they should just trade cousins and the rights to rubio and their 20+ pick for evan turner and thaddeus young. that would save face if rubio decides never to come to the states and they would get 2 young wings. then they can draft a center with their other first round pick and sign shaq.
Shouts out to Eric Devendorf, who is killing overseas!!!!
Dhamp2...the greatest basketball mind in the world. Next to Hubie Brown anyway.
If you lived in MN you would know they're not taking Johnson, Kahn and Rambis have both stated on AM Radio recently that they want a star that can create and be that guy in the Triangle that takes shots at the end of the shot clock. So you think Wes Johnson can run an Iso and get a bucket? Yeah right. I also went to several games this year where in fan meetings before games Kahn and Hoiberg both emphatically said the team needs a star they can rely on to get them buckets, again, do you honestly think that can be Wes Johnson? Another Kahn quote, he has Wes Johnson in the same tier as Aminu and presumably George, would you take Johnson at 4 if you have him in the same tier as both of them, wouldn't the more logical thing be to trade down and get your player of choice along with another young player? Dude, I'm just going off what I've heard straight from the horse's mouth and what's been chatted about locally. I pray none of you actually take what Chad Ford says as the truth, guy's a complete idiot, 90% of the bloggers on here could do a better job covering the NBA Draft for ESPN. What's funny is that he doesn't actually watch College games, he just goes off what other GMs/Execs are telling him, how much of what they tell him is bull &$#%#&@!? 90%?
Do you not also realize the Wolves owner Glen Taylor has lost over $60M the last three seasons combined on the team. Drafting Johnson will not solve that dilemma. They need a star they can market and bring fans into the Target Center to see, unfortunately Johnson will probably never be more than a good complimentary player to a star. Honestly, if Taylor continues to lose money like that the next couple of seasons they're as good as sold, and to be honest, with the lack of fan base the Wolves have here in MN, why would any new owner want to keep them here, to lose money? I work at a company that has about 50 employees here in Minneapolis, most of which are young sports fans and to tell you the truth I'm the only one who gives a you know what about the Timberwolves, does that not say something?
Why would the wolves trade all of their picks just to move up two spots in the draft, you act as if we're picking 12th and trying to move up to pick 2nd. That's the most idiotic thing i've ever heard!!!!
