Wizards begin contract negotiations with John Wall

Looks like he'll be getting a max contract extension.

I had my doubts about him,

I had my doubts about him, but after he came back from injury he looked every bit a max contract player and "the guy" for Washington going forward.

It will be interesting to see what sort of contracts this draft class gets. Quite a bit of talent, although some of them have not shown or had the opportunity their full talents.

I wouldn't give him a max

I wouldn't give him a max contract until it's time for his second contract, and kept proving that he is worth and deserved it too.

I would agree with you

I would agree with you because it isn't like you have a chance to lose him since he will be a restricted free agent. In all likelyhood he will play well enough to deserve a max extension but he doesn't deserve it at this point when you can play out the season with no risk.

The Wizards really have no

The Wizards really have no choice...hes obviously a franchise player and if they dont sign him, somebody else will gladly. Ive watched almost every game he has played, and if he gets some help, he will have the Wizards contending...thats a big IF though with this franchise...I love Beal and i hope Porter is good, but Ernie has a history of messing things up big time...he didnt mess up John Wall because he was the consensus #1 pick...

If the Wizards don't give him

If the Wizards don't give him a max contract, somebody else in free agency will and the Wizards will be forced to match anyway so might as well not go through that process and let him know that you want him to be your centerpiece.
