Without much Fanfare & Against the wishes of Shaq..Magic name Jacque Vaughn new Coach

Saturday morning GM Rob Herrigan announced that the team has hired 37 year old 12 year veteran Jacque Vaughn as their new coach..Most fans here in Orlando were hoping for a coach with a more impressive resume than Vaughn, who'll be taking his 1st coaching job...Despite having been in the nba for 12 seasons, alot of fans still dont know Vaughn that well..

For a team that only a few years ago was competing for a title..The Orlando Magic are now a team with no direction...Orlando was 1 of the few teams that didnt have any major additions, besides picking up rookie Andrew Nickelson in the draft...And with Howard's sitaution holding the team hostage the team really cant make any major moves...

Dwight was once 1 of the league's most engaging & likable personalities, but now it seems that boyish grin was a fake..Fans were turned off after he had coach Van Gundy fired and all of the i want stay in Orlando 1 day..To the i want to be traded drama the next day..Howard's fans that once hoped he would be part of the team forever, now cant wait until he leaves town...

Interesting...

Although Vaughn played in the NBA for a long time, he was never much of a player. During his best season he averaged 6 ppg, 2 rpg and 4 apg in 22 mpg. However, he was well liked by those he played with and by all accounts is a great guy. Moreover, experience has taught us that ability to play and ability to coach are not always connected. Hopefully he has a successful tenure in Orlando. It's always nice to see good guys succeed.

Vaughn

Vaughn while he couldn't shoot a lick in the pros he was a smart tough nosed defensive PG and I think he could be a steal as a coach. I agree whole heartedly about Howard , he went from being so likeable to now he is the NBA equivalent of Sammy Sosa minus the steroids and corked bat.

Jacque Vaughan was a stud at

Jacque Vaughan was a stud at Kansas, but never really did anything in the NBA. I'm kind of stunned that he's gotten an NBA coaching job with ZERO coaching experience.

Im not surprised he got the job, becuz i hear he's been a great addition to the coaching staffs, hes been on...

And most of the best coaches, were average players...

I just expected with so much uncertainty with the team..They're try bringing someone with a bigger name,to try to bring some stability to the team ....But i guess alot of guys didnt want to become involve in that MESS

If you get the coffee in San Antonio someone will

give you a head coaching job. Its like the Parcells-Belichick or Walsh-Holmgren tree in the NFL.

Quick response.

No coach with any kind of resume would have taken on this team. I'm from Orlando and I know of jacque Vaughan pretty well. He played here a couple seasons. He was tough nosed player. When we hired Doc he had no real experience and he is a damn near hof level coach. So, you never know. And I don't care what shaq thinks about anything that goes on in the Orlando organization at this point, the dude could've had a job here making those decisions if he wanted to. But he didn't.
