omphalosParticipantSo many terrible calls on both sides throughout the game, but the ones against UK just happened to be concentrated in the last 3 minutes.
Devin Booker cannot guard anybody.
Dekker is a mismatch nightmare.
The Harrison twins should stay in school.
WCS is never going to be an offensive threat, he should declare.
I’m heartbroken that we don’t get to see Towns vs Okafor.

MopgrassParticipantThey should have fed Towns more. Harrison twins kept driving down the middle over and over to miss difficult challenging shots. It’s exactly why their stock went down so far. They get selfish when the game is on the line. WCS only got one alley-oop. They created almost zero fast breaks. Why did they run more?
Dekker really reminded people that he’s a gamer. Kaminsky must be helping his stock, being guarded by all-world defensive player WCS, but big guys scoring 20 points on Kentucky at a good FG% is really rare. He has to jump up the boards a little with this tournament. Even his defense wasn’t too bad.

B-ball fanParticipantDespite Kentucky drove into the middle of the floor constantly, forcing Kaminsky to help, but he still managed to get 10 defensive rebounds on the game. I thought he did an excellent job helping and then getting back to find his man to box out. And, while he did let Towns get some low touches, as was inevitable given how strong Towsn is, he had a couple nice stops of Towns in the post and even had that one possession when he pushed Towns out near the 3-point line. Kaminsky was definitely the most important defensive player in this game. Not saying best defensive prospect, but in this game, his defense was the best.
I could see Kaminsky going top-10. His overreliance on spinning back right is a weakness, but he is going to be more of a shooter in the NBA and won’t be asked to be as high usage or to handle the ball as much. And his spin right is a move not many big man can defend well and he can keep his dribble alive if the bucket is not there. He should be working on a turnaround jumper over his right shoulder, though, to keep the defense honest.

sitlbitoParticipantAlso we have to remember Kaminsky had a star role in Wisconsin. He’ll not face any double teams in the NBA,and he could have his way against some defenders. But as often with prospects, how much of a liability are their weaknesses. If he really has trouble to guard anyone,he won’t be on the floor just for his offense. At least he seems to be a really smart player,so he could understand positioning, rotations easily.

mgreener_34ParticipantNo ones going to mention how poorly coached Kentucky was down the stretch? Trying to mink the clock with only a 2 poiny lead was almost as dumb as Pete Carrol going for a pass play on the 1/2 yard line. For real, KT had like 3 strait shoy-clock violations.
Personally I’m glad we get to see Duke vs Wisconsin. I don’t really think Coach Cal is that good, and it shows every year when his teams fall short in big games even though they have more talent on their bench than most teams have in their starting lineups. Now we get to see the rematch between Okafor and Kaminski, Dekker gets to keep his great run going, same with Winslow. Should be a great game, I’m hoping for a classic.

King CaluchaParticipantI couldn’t have said it better myself. See… a good coach does make his roster perform better than it actually is. Winning with the best roster doesn’t prove much. Of course, Calipari is the best recruiter out there, but NOT winning having the best roster each season… hmmm That was my opinion on Spoelstra as well.

Memphis MadnessParticipantBetter matchup.
Okafor vs. Kaminsky. Offensive maestros inside.
Dekker looked like a whiter, more aggressive Larry Bird the past few games. Winslow is a bad man.
Duke’s guards vs. Wisconsin’s guards.
Bo Ryan vs. Coach K.
PERFECT title game for college basketball purists.

vulture711ParticipantThey’ve already played. Well coached. Terrific centers.
Dekker actually reminds me of Keith Van Horn which isn’t a knock. Keith was pretty damn good.
Really a pick em game – maybe the edge to Wisconsin as simply the more veteran team vs Duke’s freshman

Ghost01ParticipantNo doubt there were awful calls in this game (like most college games) but any narrative Kentucky was getting screwed is just wrong. Reviewing that slap by Lyles, and determining it was a nothing, is purely terrible officiating. Between that and the shot-clock violation shot by Hayes, either way, Wisconsin should have got 2 points. So in the end, it doesn’t really matter. If Towns his his free throws, or "the greatest clutch shooter in the history of basketball" Aaron Harrison doesn’t miss by about 10 feet on a late three, the story is different. Make shots. In a game which was mostly controlled by Wisconsin, Kentucky had 2 possessions, included one where they got an offensive rebound, so 3 shots at extending a 4 point lead late. They didn’t.
The better team won. Duke, Wisconsin, and Kentucky were clearly the 3 best teams in college this year. I know UK was undefeated but this is a legitimate championship matchup. Not UConn-Butler.

HitsterParticipantIronically Bo Ryan and John Calipari are both potential HOF contenders this year, wonder if this result will have any sway on the voting.
Would have loved to see Okafor vs KAT and Calipari pitting his wits against Coach K. Other neutrals will have a smile that Kentucky lost.
I was waiting for Coach Ryan to start doing a Paul Heyman type speech "I’m the one behind the one who made Kentucky 38-1"
