bloodshyParticipantWho is the big winner? Who is the big loser? Just pick one of each.
Winner: Jazz. They got Burke & Gobert out of the 14, 21 & 46. Amazing. As a Jazz fan I could not be more pleased. Burke fits the system perfectly and Gobert is a great 3rd big that can develop behind Favors/Kanter. Gobert may be a bust, but if he’s not… watch out.
Loser: Cavs. They drafted a lot of talent and I like every player they drafted. However, the pieces just don’t fit together for me. I really dislike their overall draft.

220ParticipantPeople know the Pelicans pick is top 5 protected, but the 76ers own pick will likely yield a high pick seeing as they traded their best player for a guy who will be out until the end of December and a future 1st round pick. From my perspective the 76ers entered tank mode with hopes of getting Wiggins or Parker.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantI really like what the Kings did. Ended up with Ben McLemore (who I still think is the best player in the draft) while staying at #7 and grabbed another PG in Ray McCallum in round 2.

Sewok15ParticipantWinner: Sixers…they got Noel and MCW…not to mention a first rounder next year (as long as NO isn’t in the top 5 which they shouldn’t be) for Holiday and a 2nd rounder. Add on to that Ledo in the 2nd round and that is 3 very high ceiling players that can all compliment one another if they develop. I commend them on sacrificing next year and hopefully they are able to score a stud (WIGGINS!!!!) in next years draft. I feel much better about the direction the franchise is headed today than I did yesterday. Sometimes you have to take a step backwards to take two steps forward.
Loser: Charlotte…MJ is at it again reaching for Zeller when guys like McLemore and Len were on the board. McLemore would have fit a big need of a shooter to play next to Kemba. MVPs LeBron and Aaron Rodgers were both very high on McLemore as are many of us. I think he will be the best player in this class and Charlotte loses points not just for reaching for Zeller but passing on Ben.

OhCanada-ParticipantIm not that sure who traded for what but from what I see.
Atlanta drafts three point gaurds, one international non-stash that is not NBA ready but has 5-star potential, one NBA ready with a good but not great all around game great intangibles and limited upside and one euro stash with Schroeder, Larkin, and Neto…yet PG is arguably the strongest position for Atlanta with Teague and Harris. Did I miss a trade or did Atlanta get trade pieces for a trade that did not materialize.
I think Indiana could have done better then Soloman Hill.
Spurs got a steal with Deshaun Thomas.
Utah wins big with Burke & Gobert.
Minnesota had just as good a draft imo with Muhammad and Dieng.
And my Raptors are huge winners imo with Kabongo not getting drafted. I consider him a lock for our 3rd PG.

220ParticipantLarkin got traded to Dallas for sure. The Hawks also got Lucas Noguiera and Mike Muscala in the Larkin deal. Btw Jeff Teague is a restricted free agent and Devin Harris is a free agent so the Hawks didn’t have a point guard under contract. I’m not sure if Neto was dealt or not.

TheWizardParticipantSo psyched about the Kings draft. I really like Tyreke in the rotation with Mclemore. Tyreke being able to drive in and then dish out could be effective. I really thought they were going to make a splash in the draft and get a top young point guard though.
I was also disappointed in the Celtics. I felt there were better options when Olynyk was taken.

ProudGrandpaParticipantNot everyone likes the KCP pick, but I think the Pistons did well. Mitchell was a great value pick at 42 and Caldwell-Pope is a guy who can play alongside Knight. They have a lot of talent already and its not like they needed a guy who could do a bunch of scoring. He’s a smooth, 2-way player who will fit in smoothly and nicely with the talent they already have.

Sharp ShooterParticipantNot bad, they also got peyton silva (the irony of drafting him instead of burke lol)who is a good floor facilitator. I think the pistons are one of the biggest dark horses in this draft….One way if KCP turns out to be worth the hype then, he would make joe dumars look like a genius. If not, then I doubt he has his job after this season. So it’ll also be interesting to see what they will do in FA since they (assuming) have their starting point (Knight) sg (KCP) sf (??) pf (Monroe) and c (Drummond) …

Sharp ShooterParticipantI doubt they they go after Iggy now due to the fact that they have a SG now, and Iggy at sf would make them have a undersized back court Knight(6’3) KCP (6’6) Iggy(6’6). Plus he’ll be 30 in January. Not worth the big bucks for a guard. Personally, I still like Josh Smith, the question is can he still be able to play sf. I think he can but he may have to shed some weight.
I’m eager to see Tony Mitchell play..I thought he was the biggest steal for the pistons.

OhCanada-ParticipantKCP over Burke is a huge shocker but I think Detroit made the right move, unless Shabazz out performs him. Funny thing is they brought in Bazz two workouts and didn’t workout KCP at all. They probably didn’t like something about Bazz.

arowsky205ParticipantWinner: Jazz- Get the best PG in the draft as their PG of the future. Also great value at #9.
Winner: Kings- Get the best player in the draft in my opinion at 7. Apparently they were looking to trade up for him and they got him just by staying put.
Winner: Trail Blazers- They had the worst bench in the league last year and they get McCollum, Withey, and Crabbe. I thought Withey and Crabbe were first round talents and they just added a lot of much needed depth.
Loser: Thunder- They had 3 picks and didn’t add any players that can help out right away. They’re still stuck with Perkins; I thought they were going to get a center to play right away. I thought Olynyk at 12 would have been a good pick and Withey or Muscala at 29 or 32 would have been great. They got 3 projects including a horrible value pick in Roberson.

machu46ParticipantWinner: 76ers; Will Noel be a franchise changer? I don’t think so. But at the end of the day, they basically traded being a Milwaukee Bucks kind of 7 or 8 seed for Noel, MCW, what’s likely a very good 1st round pick in 2014, and basically another great 1st round pick in 2014 when you factor in the fact that they just went from a probable late lottery/low playoff team to now being one of front runners for the Wiggins sweepstakes. It sounds like Philly is trying to move Ricky Ledo again, but if they keep him, I like that as well because he has a very high ceiling.
I also really liked what the Bucks did by grabbing Giannis at 15 and from the sounds of it, adding Wolters in the 2nd.
Loser: Celtics obviously. It’s pretty much been touched on here already. They gave up everything they have besides Rondo and got basically nothing of value in return. And then they drafted Olynyk too, who I thought was a reach, and in the very least, he fights with last year’s 1st rounder, Sullinger, for playing time. Just a horrible, horrible draft for them IMO.

bigheavyParticipantNew Orleans & Minnesota = Winners
New Orleans brings in Jrue Holliday improves their backcourt if they can hold on to Eric Gordon they could be dangerous in upcoming years.
Minnesota did well for themselves. Shabazz was a nice add they need scoring from the perimeter. Dieng gives them a much needed inside presence on defense.
Biggest loser is the Milwaukee Bucks didn’t see much they did to help themselves. The guy they took at 15 could turn out to be good but who knows.

machu46ParticipantThere is absolutely no way that in a draft with teams like Boston selling off everything they have for basically nothing, that a team that takes a chance on the guy that many perceive to have the highest ceiling in the draft can be the biggest loser. To get one of the few players in this draft that seem to have the potential to be an all-star with a mid-first round pick is pretty great IMO. I had them as one of my winners of the draft.

TheguywithglassesParticipantI like how Min got Shabazz, Gorgui Deng in the first round. Shabazz has potential to be a good scorer playing with Rubio. Lorenzo Brown is going to be one of the steals of this draft along with Ricky Ledo and Jamaal Franklin. Brown could be a great back up to Rubio and can play the two if need be. I see him being a Brian Shaw type of player in the NBA.
Ricky Ledo will be a steal in this draft. He’s one of the best guards in this draft and Dallas have a gem. Memphis also have a gem with Jamaal Franklin.
Knicks also got a good young player in Tim Hardaway Jr who can step in a play a good role off the bench.
Losers
Pacers
Solomon Hill is a reach, a major reach. They had Allen Crabbe, Tim Hardaway Jr, Ricky Ledo, Isaiah Canaan in theor grasp and they pick a guy they could’ve selected in the second round. Bad pick.Bobcats
Michael Jordan does it again…. Nothing more to say.Sixers
Did they really trade a All Star PG for a PG who can’t really shoot and has shaky handles and a Center who weights 216 and acl torn knee? Yeah… somebody’s getting fired at the end of the year. That spacing with Evan Turner, MCW, and Noel on the floor at the same time, yeah this is going to be good.

PhogifyParticipantKings are definite winners with McLemore sliding to them, we can’t forget that they also got a McDonald’s All-American with Ray McCallum in the second round.
I think the Orlando should’ve pulled the trigger on BMac, but I don’t think they completely lost because Dipo is also a great player. I think McLemore would have been the better pick because they need spot up shooters more than they need guys that can get to the basket.

moochieeParticipantI like what Ryan McDonough did for the Suns, picked up two very promising players on a team devoid of talent. I don’t think they’re the big winners, but Len plus Goodwin (in a few years) and potentially Wiggins/Parker/Randle next year (cause let’s face it, the Suns are going to suck) and you’ve got yourselves some great building blocks.

couch gmParticipantI dont mind the Goodwin selection at that point in the draft but its still a risk.
All the analytic models Ive seen scream bust for Len at 5. Bigs who dont rebound well, dont score particularly efficiently and arent athletic enough to get steals all whilst fouling like crazy dont tend to project well. Suns need to hope that his game develops more than prospects whove put up similar numbers in the past.0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/28/2013 - 6:12am #808569

mamadouParticipantIndiana made some sick 1st rounders the last 2 years, their 2nd rounders are better players…
Kings are not the winners, and mc lemore either, they still have no SF and no legit(building) PG, but a bigtime logjam at SG, no role models, no vets, no leader(s), no hierarchy, no idea…but surely a bunch of pick up game players with skills.
Mc lemore would have needed a situation ala barnes or kawhi before him, good environment, the right pieces at the right place, no logjam, legit stars/leaders and/or veterans and/or role players at every spots, 4th option, no pressure…methodic growth.
He won’t make them a winning team in a near future, and they’ll probably prevent him to fully reach his ceiling…
Solid suns draft, len was supposedly the 1st pick and then a rare 18YO player, i was quite close, i gave them noel at 5 and goodwin at 30, they passed on noel for a legit C and they got goodwin at 29.
Enough to compete with the sixers for the worst record…
Perfect fit for the jazz since 6 months now…and they got it.
Sixers are the winners fosho since they locked wiggins, parker or randle next year, this season they’ll made the bobcats look like the suns(nash era), MCW another beast from cuse…haha.
He’s only one year younger than holliday who had already 4 years in the nba under his belt, TO prone like crazy, some fluke numbers due to the system, + 26 and 28% as a jumpshooter that sounds good alongside turner (who’s himself a facilitator who’ll be better suited with a scoring-shooting point).
That must be an attempt to rejuvenated the 2007 celtics backcourt composed of rondo and tony allen, unlimited range…
Great move by gilbert(again), now we are sure lebron won’t come back with that kind of pieces in town…and why not a simple trade down to get a little extra pick in the process ?(and less committed salaries over the course of the rookie scale…for a doubtful 1st pick).
Really sad for the celts, pierce was a celtic for life ala kobe, wade, spurs big three, i like sully, he’ll put numbers, but they added olynik and we should say to ainge that we ain’t in the 70’s anymore….
Funny videogame team for the nets, they had 3 iso players, now 5…but still one ball, every player will be paid more millions than points and at the end of the day they’ll still be crushed by the 3 other powerhouses in the east, which are structured in a right way, on the court…not on paper.0- Posted on: Fri, 06/28/2013 - 1:29am #808270
King CaluchaParticipantI was expecting someone to bring this matter. Who is supposed to defend in Brooklyn? Lopez is not particularly know for his defense, Pierce is decent but losing athleticism at a high rate, then… Johnson and Deron in the backcourt? This looks good for a NBA 2K team, but in real life I doubt the experiment works.

machu46ParticipantAt this point in their careers, Johnson is a far better defender than Pierce. Pierce has fallen defensively big time. But Deron and Johnson are alright, and Garnett will hopefully get some more out of everyone on the defensive end. I think this was a move they had to make.

joecheck88ParticipantI really tend to agree with you about B Mac and the Kings. I think he needed to be in a good situation where he could be mentored. From a talent standpoint the Kings got a steal but who is going to help him become a professional. The Kings have a lot of work to do to make them an actual team. Right now it’s a bunch of dudes I would pick for a 1 on 1 tournament but aren’t receptive team players. They are in serious need of some heady vets and they need to get rid of a bunch of guys like Evans and Thornton.

khaled_a_dParticipantWinners :
Kings :gr8 pick and get one of the best players in the draft with the 7th pick ,would probably allow them to play Evans in PG again
Jazz: best PG ,probably a starting PG for the future,a good back up CLosers: Indiana & Boston
to be decided : Hornets & Sixers depends on the pick next year (is it top 5 protected or top 3? every one here says top 5 protected but from I read it was top 3) , if we are talking about a pick between 4-7 next year,Sixers could end up being big winners in the draft

PistonsFan22ParticipantWinners:
1. Utah killed it obviously. Couldn’t really ask for a better draft in my opinion.
2. Philadelphia – lose Jrue Holiday but make two good draft choices with a lot of potential. The best thing is that it puts them in position to lose more games this year and instead of being a middle of the road team they will most likely be involved in the Andrew Wiggins sweepstakes
3. Wizards- took the obvious pick and a guy I’m very high on in Otto Porter. Picking the obvious pick was definitely not a given in this crazy draft so they have to get some credit for doing the smart thing. Also Glen Rice Jr in the second round was a great aquisition
4. Pistons- I like KCP a lot, good rebounder, good defender, good finisher, gets to the line often, just a really solid overall player. Mitchell was a nice pick in the second round because of his incredible physical tools, definitely worth a chance in the second round
5.Kings- McLemore falling into their laps must have been nice! McCallum is very underrated, think he has the potential to be a starting point guardLosers:
There was one major loser in this draft in my opinion. The Pacers. It was deja vu for the Pacers where they grab a projected second round pick in the first round (Plumlee last year). I actually think Hill could contribute but they could have waited. Major reach for Hill in the first round and then Iverson in the second round who does not block enough shots for a guy of his size. Felt like the Pacers could have picked up some good shooters, a point guard to develop, or a more solid rotational big with their position in the draft0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/28/2013 - 3:46am #808398

couch gmParticipantDenver may have just had the worst draft of anyone who made a selection this year. They traded their first for a 2nd rounder and cash. Love that we selected Green but we should have got more assets for Gobert.
We also traded a productive, starting calibre centre for a pick in the 50s and an injury prone Darrell Arthur. To make it worse, Arthur is on a larger contract! In short we traded Gobert and Koufos for a lower pick and Green, whilst taking on more salary. Sucks.0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/28/2013 - 6:02am #808564

jmarg25ParticipantLoser- Grievis Vasquez; he led the whole league in total assists last year, yet is totally an afterthought now that Holiday is on board.
