Will Potential Lottery Selections Have To Participate In Pre Draft Workouts?

This years draft is extremely close and it seems like not committing to a workout could be a pretty dangerous game. Lottery fringe players like Burks, Valanciunas, etc. who have not been fully scouted and under the national spotlight will likely try to increase their stockaround this time, and surge very high into the draft which could be possible. Will this make the drafts elite prospects become forced to participate as not to risk their higher spot.

Irving may need to prove he is the player he showe to be before that toe injury. Kanter will need to show despite not playing this year he can be a dominate frontcourt player n the league. Motiejunas will want to validate himself as a dynamic frontcourt player. P.Jones may want to showcase the skillset Baylor supposedly never allowed him to showcase.

How important will group workouts become, who will show up, and who has the right to decline.

I honestly believe the only players that have earned the right to decline are Sullinger, Barnes and Williams. Every other prospect should go prove their worth.

Players often don't want to

Players often don't want to work out against competing players especially the same position eg Sullinger and Kanter working out together could affect ones draft stock but increase the others' if one proved to be much better.

Once the lottery is done then we may see if someone gets a promise and then cancels any workouts as I believe Gordon Hayward may have done last year.

But as there is no sure fire number one like John Wall or Blake Griffin then I'm sure teams picking at least 1 to 3 would want to look at all possibilities and players would attend although probably on an individual basis. You may see players only working out for teams in certain lottery positioms eg Harrison Barnes may only choose to work out for teams picking say 1 to 5 and for no-one below that.

I remember Cousins dominating

I remember Cousins dominating Favors in group workouts and Favors still went higher due to personality. Although I mean Johnson didnt do many workouts grouped but still went 4th, I think this year if a player tries that it would hurt their stock. I also think alot of players have something to prove.

They still have to do

They still have to do workouts they just dont have to do them with other players if there agent advises them not too. Its a smart move if you're a high lotto lock.
