Al Jefferson is very happy to play in Utah and to play with D-Will. I think playing with a all-star point guard will boost his stats. Does anybody else agree with me that Jefferson could/might/will average 23-26 PPG, 11-12 RPG, and 1-2 APG? Will he play good enough to make the all-star team? If he plays power forward I think he could beat out Duncan for an all-star spot because I don’t think he will get enough votes to beat out Dirk and Pau. If he plays center that changes everything. I think he would most likely make the all-star team if he plays at center, because his only competition is going to be Yao(if he completely healthy) and maybe Bynum. I am making a bold statement here and saying that if Yao is still hurt and Bynum isn’t playing that well and if Jefferson plays center I think he would start at center for the west all-star team. Thoughts?

i see him averaging about 21-10. He is a borderline all-star. He should have made the all-star team 2 years ago but he regressed last year coming off the injury. I think he is pretty much a wash for boozer.

Nah, he will average about 23-12. He is an upgrade over Boozer and I think he will make the all-star team this year along with D-Will.

Next to Duncan and Pau Gasol He might have the 3rd best post moves for a big man in the league…

    ^LOL, good question.

I expect 20 and 11. I want to see how he’ll adjust to the pick and roll Utah runs, since he more of a guy who catches off of post feeds and goes to work.

I think in Utah’s offence and teaming up with D Will he will only get better. If he stays healthy he easily has a chance to be an all star next year.

he does have great post moves, some of the very best in the league. But he also doesnt play off of dwill as well as boozer did. His pick and roll/pop game is not on boozers level. But he is a better post player. Neither guy is a shot blocking above the rim type defensively. I think it was pretty much a wash in terms of talnet for talent. The biggest thing the lakers have had over the jazz in the last 3 playoffs is length and ability to play above the basket. Jafferson doesnt bring any more of that then boozer did.

lilperez, I can see your point but Jefferson is bigger and willing to bang down more than Boozer would because Boozer did start relying on that 15 to 18 footer which is cool but someone that would bang close to the basket all the time would increase Jazz’s trips to the line. Also Jefferson can play some Center. I think people forget that Jefferson is like 6’10” 6’11” with decent length but he is not very athletic though so his shot blocking is not impressive but still more than Boozer at like1 block and so change.

Boozer was probably a better playmaker and passer but with Deron Williams all that is not really needed plus Milsap and a healthy Kirilenko will do their thing.

I think the loss of Kyle Korver will hurt more than the loss of Boozer.

Jefferson should be an ungrade in a lot of areas and he really never got to play many minutes with a point guard like Williams.
Rondo was not the player he is now when Jefferson was there and also I don’t remember them playing a lot together.

Jefferson will score a lot so 24 points or so seem likely but maybe 9 to 10 rebounds because Milsaps likes to board and Jefferson doesnt too much but he manages to get a good amount.

thing i find funny about big al (and i love watching him play), is that for a top big man with the biggest array of moves in the league, he doesnt use his left hand at all.

You guys are underrating he long lasting chemistry built between Boozer and Williams and overrating Jeffferson’s abillity to do the little things needed to be done within Sloans system offensively and defensively.

Nah, he will average about 23-12.

If that’s what you know…why would you ask the question? I think Al will post good numbers. He will put up like 24-13 this season. He’s underrated going into the season for me right now.

Jefferson first has to prove he’s back from his knee injury. He’s a large fella with a bad wheel… he did not look good last year but if he’s recovered he’s a damn good PF. A potential problem for Utah is that Al can become a black hole in the post making the offense stagnate since he’s not good passing it back out. The reason given for the firesale/trading Al by the organization was Jefferson and Rambis could no longer co-exist. That fact had never made the local papers prior to the trade.

How well Al Jefferson does will not necessarily show up in boxscores… it will show in the standings.
23 and 10 is crap if they don’t play well as a team (see timberwolves).

Well, if he averages 20-24ppg and 10-12rpg with the Jazz. Jefferson being an allstar is highly probable. Boozer has been an allstar for the Jazz twice and he averaged around 20 and 10 in order to be named, the only thing stopping Jefferson from being an allstar is if the Jazz are below 500. which is very unlikely.

I think Jefferson will suffer if he has to play Center which he hates playing especially defensively. Then again you can have Okur at the 5 and Jeff at the 4, but then once again you have arguably your best fit big and best rebounding big in Paul Milsap still coming off the bench. A bit confusing.

Al jefferson’s stats will be about the same except his points will be much more meaningful than they were in minny. His FG percentage will probably be better since he’ll have d will setting him up rather than johhy flynn/ramon sessions. He could very well make the all star team now that he’s on a good team.

Truth is Jefferson will never average 24 and 12. This whole “Jefferson is going to emerge as a Top 3 Big Man in the league” theory is crazy. He is a good player, could return to a 20 and 10 level in Utah if he plays well. Dont set the bar too high. Saying he will be a 20 10 guy at a system like Utah where noone is aloud to be ball dominant and Millsap will be pressuring for Minutes is already tough considering he was a 17 and 9 guy in one of the worst teams in the leagu last year.

At his true position, I’d say Jefferson is in the top 5 at least. Guys like Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett are aging and they are on the decline. I could see Jefferson being in the top 3 within the next 2-3 years along with Pau and Chris.
