LindseyParticipantStill dribbles a bit high, but I like his fluidity as he steps in-to his jump shot, and the change of direction is drose level.

IndianaBasketballParticipantHis change of direction is D. Rose’s level??? You’re nuts…

LindseyParticipantOnly thing slowing this guy down is when that ball leaks up and onto his wrist with the handle. I always felt this guy moved like a huge D-Rose or Westbrook. The effortless athleticism and quick movements are super similar.

tuck243Participantby watching him over the years? If it’s over the years then I truly agree on the Westbrook part, but no one changes speeds like D. Rose, not since Jordan… AI and D. Wade could do it well, but D. Rose is practically unstoppable with that… Westbrook doesn’t have it like D. Rose and Jordan did..

Chilbert arenasParticipantAgreed Lindsey, those handles are going to need work, but they aren’t fixed overnight.

OhCanada-ParticipantIf he develops his dribbles to where an above average NBA gaurd would have them and he can master stepback and turnaround jumpers he will be ungaurdable. He is just too freakishly athletic. His one step is like four of mine. His stepback creates so much space and he gets alot of height elevating for his jumper with a 7’0 wingspan. He should be able to shoot over any SG at the NBA level. I think thats the position you develop him at but you could also argue you should develop him at SF for a quickness advantage.

LindseyParticipantWatch Barnes’ Workout from his draft year. Its like taking the same size player with similar movements, measurements, but just playing the tape at half-speed. Everything that makes Barnes succesful, if he can be considered that outside of the one playoff series, Wiggins will be able to do twice as fast. And Wiggins don’t need that set-up dribble to get by on the first step. Some guys need a dribble to freeze the defender, thus stoppng ball movement and stagnating offence, and some guys can catch and blow by from a standstill like a sprinter. Kahwi showed how imprtant this trait was in the finals.

kobyzParticipantyeah you right, Wiggins is probably the best pure athlete that comes to the league since MJ…

omphalosParticipant@kobyz: I see them as very similar prospects. Wiggins is more athletically gifted end-to-end and vertically, but Barnes has a clear strength advantage and also had a few advantages in terms of passing the ball and aggressiveness.
Wiggins has a similarly “bad” handle to Barnes and a developing perimeter shot, but obviously he’s a better and more consistent defender.
Honestly, I think Barnes is a mix of Parker and Wiggins, he’s a better defender than Parker, a better scorer than Wiggins, and more athletic than Bari but less athletic than Wiggins.
I think, like Barnes, it will be crucial where Wiggins ends up for him to reach his potential.
Barnes was in a great situation as a rookie, but the Iggy signing was a bad move for him.
Hoping these two both work out.

IndianaBasketballParticipantWhy am I not seeing it? This video is obviously just bits and pieces of his best moments/highlights from his workouts, but all I see is an elite athlete. He has A LOT of work to do… Especially his ball handling. His ball handling looks horrific. His jumper, while it looks a little better, still needs a lot of work too. He’s just so raw and his skill level just doesn’t look that impressive to me at all.
I don’t get the same feel from him that I get from Jabari.

tuck243ParticipantEspecially when he posting up a player that’s maybe 5’11… What did this video prove? That step back and fadeaway was slow… I know it’s faster than that by watching actual games, but I didn’t see how he improve any of it… I’m not going to harp on the ball handling because I think everyone already touched on that…
This was like the Nik workout video for me… He did everything I knew he was good at, but slower… How is that impressive?
