Why Washington May Have Won The Lottery, But Sacramento Will Win The Draft

Yes I agree John Wall is a stud. But the fact is Washington will be rebuilding for AT LEAST his whole rookie contract. That team is still a mess, but Wall will be the player they can build around. I say this with the expectation that the new owner will at best be average and not great. If he proves to be one of the smarter owners in the league, well then look out. But let's look at the present. Sacramento actually has a great front office and ownership that genuinely want to WIN. They have consistently drafted smart and have solid to great pieces already on the team. This year it looks like they will have a choice between Cousins, Monroe. I think all the other rumored prospects are smokescreens and/or back-up plans. I have a feeling a trade is in the works with Detroit. Golden State has expressed interest in Detroit's target Cousins, so that means Sac will pick Cousins for Detroit hoping GS won't pick Monroe. If GS picks Monroe, the Kings will keep Cousins and have him and Evans beasting the rest of the league for the next decade. If GS passes on Monroe? Sac and Det swap picks and the Kings get the safer pick, a guy who it has been reported reminds some in the Kings' brass of Chris Webber. Game, Set, Match.

I hope so

As a Kings fan, sounds good to me. The key is that no matter what, we come away with either Cousins or Monroe in the end, and I believe we will.

I do think that new majority

I do think that new majority owner Ted Leonsis will be a great owner. I mean, look what he did to the Capitals. They use to be terrible but over the years, he has turned them into a championship-contending team.

If it was that easy with Cousins don't you think a few other teams selecting before Sac. might have figured it out if you could? What makes you think that Cousins and Monroe aren't the "smoke screen"?

I dont think they will be in rebuilding for that long.....

You cant really say that the wizards will be in rebuilding for his entire rookie contract ecspecially since the wizards havent even drafted anyone or looked into free agency. say they get a chris bosh? then this thread is meaningless for the wizards side. First let thing weigh out before you make descisons.

If Gil is heathy ther Wizards can do some things along with their capspace. If Gil's knee isn't good..... it becomes an "achilles" for the team.
