What is with these college players coming to the NBA thinking they are better than the Grizzlies. We should be a playoff team next year and I am sick of it….

I Like the grizz but everyone wants to score and when you got gay, mayo, randolph, young all scorers how do you think your going 2 shine. I think they should go after someone that don’t need the ball to be effective. Maybe thats why george doesn’t want top play there

I think that is a damn joke. You come into the league to make money and win titles. These guys don’t want to play in cities like Utah, Milwaukee and Memphis because the night life isn’t as big as a city like New York or Miami. It has nothing to do with playing time like they’ve been lying and saying. If your good, you will play your way into the rotation. They are just worried about playing in big markets and getting shoe deals. The NBA needs to start cracking down on agents and their influences, cause I know these guys are just happy to be in the league and they don’t care what team they play for.

I don’t Blame them. The NBA is a entertainment league, they have players to entertain the fans and money to entertain the players , but money and rings is not just it. Location, teammates, coaching can be other reasons. If i was a scorer like paul george i wouldn’t want to play for a team stacked with a bunch of those.

Paul george has already shown what he is worth. He doesn’t mind if one team says no, he got 29 others waiting. Its a big league and you got to prove what you got, don’t got anything why would someone want to play there

Idk ive got no clue just wondering, how is the rascism down south in Memphis Tennessee is it an issue?Being from Canada ive heard stories on how Tennessee is a very rascist state in general (my Boss’s son told me he went to a Vol’s game and in Tennessee ppl were not to kind to him and openly rascist).

Once again im sorry if im wrong and offending anyone i havent been down there and should not judge the people without proper knowledge of the state so im just asking…

Memphis is mostly black anyway. I have not experienced any racism but I am sure if you go more to the country you may find some. Never thought of it as an issue

man i live in memphis and i bet memphis is 70% black at least. racism isn’t an issue here and it shouldn’t be reason these players dont wanna play here.
i’m sick of people not working out for the griz.
if the wanna go play for some rebiulding team and lose fine by me but if you wanna have a chance to go to the playoffs and play on one of the most exciting young teams in the nba then come to the griz.

    i’m freaking sick of it!

well i live in mississippi 30 minutes from memphis, its country and dirty as hell here, but no racism, iono bout the other areas of mississippi but i’ve never had any experiences with racism in memphis or my area, the crime rate is crazy tho, but most likely the NBA players would have their homes in Germantown, Mid-Town, Collierville etc…

the stereotype of memphis being a ball hog team continues. Our team not leading in assists doesn’t mean we don’t pass the ball.

These college kids have the right to say no to workouts for the grizz, but it really shows who they are as a person to deny the grizzlies the chance to test them.

Btw, if anything, memphis needs more scorers off the bench. READ THIS, on a grizzlies blog, a stat stood out to me.
In 2009-2010, Memphis lost 17 games but had lead by double digits at some point in the game. 17 GAMES…..

sam young…and thabeet. Those are the real options off the bench, and thabeet’s not an offensive threat. Carrol/arthur/m.williams didn’t help the scoring so much.

Hayward and George cancelled the workouts due to concerns over minutes. Or at least that is what they say. Both are SFs, Memphis could have Mayo, Gay, Brewer, and Young at the wings. That is not a lot of available minutes for a lottery pick SF. Memphis could pick either prospect if they want. The Bucks wouldn’t mind if they passed on George.

any of ya’ll heard the Griz are pretty high on Armon Johnson? they think he’s nba ready right now and could contribute right away.

i think they might use one of those late 1st round picks on him

I think after they traded Gasol to the Lakers for stick of gum they lost all credibility.

how can you say they dumped gasol?

it has allowed then to get Zach Randolf and they draft Darrell Arthur and they have another pick in this years draft

what about some other grizzlies trades that have worked out good

like darko for q-rich then q-rich for zach randolf (basically darko for z-bo)

or shane battier for rudy gay

i’m tired of people saying the grizzlies make stupid moves all the time and that they’re a joke in the nba. thats bs we’ve made some quality trades that have put us in a position to be a playoff contender

Are you kidding me? The owner admitted they didn’t get fair market value for Gasol. Just because things have turned out okay for Memphis doesn’t mean the trade was the right one to make.

It should have gotten someone shot…Marc Gasol being a good player was not really an issue…Marc being a decent Center and getting those late picks doesn’t make up for giving away a top 15 player in the Game…They lucked out with Zac not tanking (but he is playing for a new deal right???) They could have Gotten Pau Help by trading for Marc and darfting Rubio last year…Maybe they would have kept Calderon…They’d have Rubio/Mayo/Gay/Pau and Marc Gasol/Calderon and others on the bench…That Team is A contender in the West…The Grizzles front office is cheap and has no vision of how to run a first rate organization…Getting Lucky w/ Zac,The T’Wolves Blunder of Mayo for Love and the progression of Gasol doesn’t make up for These 3 Things…

1.Letting Jose Calderon Leave To Spain sent the message to Pau that the Grizzles didn’t want to build around Him and Jose, and they were never going to extend his deal and Win something in Memphis…

2.Salary Dumping Pau…Not Just Keeping Jose and buying Marc’s Draft Rights from the Lakers to help him out in Memphis…It got you Marc Gasol…But couldn’t Mike Conley have gotten you Marc Gasol Too???

3.Drafting Thabeet over Rubio+Jennings,Curry and Evans( But Uf You Kept Gasol and added Marc, Ricky would be happy to be on a Team That had 3 other Spaniards and Mayo and Gay)

That Team would have been Great…Rubio, Mayo, Gay, Pau and Marc Gasol, Calderon…

i dont agree with people who say the griz should have drafted curry or evans because they are scorers first and passers second. we already have 3 good scorers in oj rudy and zach and there just wouldnt be enough shots to go around. i dont think ricky rubio would have ever come to memphis because he wants to play in a big market and memphis is not a big market like new york or la. i wouldnt have minded them drafting jennings but let me remind you the griz had a glaring hole at center because nobody knew that marc gasol was going to have a huge breakout season like he did. i’m not saying they made the right choice with thabeet at number 2 but i still think he can be a good center in this league and he provides tons of depth there.
