Why isn't DWill a better rebounder?
I'm Your Father is right. Jerry Sloan wants his guards to get back on defense and get out on the break. Leave the boards for the hungry hippos (Millsap, Boozer, Jefferson, Memo, etc...)
Simple as that.
because he has other cogs around him to pick up rebounds like Jeffferson and Millsap. With the big rebounders and Jerry Sloans influence, Dwill lays off on the boards and passes the ball instead. Thats what Dwill does, he listens to the coach and does what is asked of him. If Coach Sloan asked him to grab rebounds, I sure he would do so and get 5-7 boards a game, but he doesn't, so Dwill averages sub-par numbers on the boards. But I do like the comparison of Dwill to Jason Kidd. I think that comparison fits him perfectly. I bet most of you didn't know that J-Kidd is actually Deron's favorite player. He idolized him growing up.
Other than size, I don't see what's to compare between Williams and Kidd.
Kidd was an elite defender, Williams is not. Williams is a very good shooter, while Kidd was not. Kidd also didn't look for his own offense nearly as much as Williams.
Two different players if you look past the size.
He didn't compare Williams and Kidd, he said they're about the same size.
Oh ok, my bad.
there is a serbian point gaurd who grabs like 5 off boards a game and averages like 9 total
Nenad Miljenovic, he is likely to be a lottery pick if he moves to the states and commits to a big name college

This has long eluded me. Maybe you guys can help with your analysis of him.
Why the hell isn't Deron Williams a better rebounder? He's always incredibly assertive but most importantly he's big for a PG at 6-3/207. So how is it that he routinely average just 3 or 4 rebounds when 6-0/6-1 guys like Paul and Rondo expect to grab 5 or 6 each night? That might not sound like a huge difference, but based on his size/physical gifts, shouldn't he be better on the boards? He's very similar to Jason Kidd from a physical standpoint, and we all know how savvy he is on the glass.
So what is it? Is it playing with great ballhawks like Boozer and Millsap (and now Jefferson) that's hampered his stats? Is he just lazy on the glass? Not as perceptive when the opponent hoists a shot? What do you think? Because I think he should be grabbing 6 boards a night.
