Why did Orlando trade Gortat?
I know its a question that is looooong overdue but why did Orlando trade Marcin Gortat? Why? It's obvious to the core that the Magic needed a back up big man to give Dwight Howard and SUDDENLY Gortat is having a marvelous season with the Suns... Him and Nash played beautiful music together... I am pretty sure he is very happy with Suns now...
Orlando's offense hasn't changed since Howard got there. Let Howard pack the paint, and when he comes off the court, use Jameer or one other person to penetrate and kick it to the out side for a three. Keep doing that and when Howard comes on the court, he packs the paint again and does what Howard does. So they went with what they know. Meaning, they probably didn't think Howard needed back up. So they just picked up another known excellent shooter J-rich. And J-rich is also a slasher. They are a jump shooting team. They chose to live by the '3' whether or not it will get them through the play offs only time will tell. Just my take on the trade though...
Btw, some players need a change of scenery to capture magic they may have had, or never had. So Gortat, Marcus Thornton, and from what I can tell Kristic are hustling to show they have something to prove.
Not sure why but he's doing well in Phoenix. I thought the deal would work out for them. Gortat averaged 13 pts, 9 rebs and a block in 30 mins.
steve nash can make anybody beter than they really are. The suns have looked real good of late.
For the Suns last month.
They actually thought they were getting the old Turkoglu back! Great move for the Suns , hate to see JRich go but V.C. isnt a bad replacement. They lost so many games at the begining of the year because they had Frye at the 5 and Turk at the 4 and some d-leaguer as a back up 5. Now they have a decent tandem of Centers with Lopez/ Gortat.
Gortat had to go to get Turkoglu and Richardson, it made both teams better teams, and as far as i'm concerned, i'm sure Orlando is happy with Earl Clark development since coming from the Suns, but i'm sure they would love to be able to play Daniel Orton in the backup minutes for Howard. Maybe they should do that just to see how he goes.
