Why D-Will is a bad fit for Minny

Some may say D-Will is to similar to Beasley. Others say they now have a logjam at the forward spots. My reasoning is the 2012 draft. Look at the top players in the 2012 draft:

Anthony Davis

Jared Sullinger

Harrison Barnes

James McAdoo

Perry Jones

Michael Gilchrist

Adonis Thomas

Terrence Jones

All of these guys are forwards. Assuming Minnesota gets another high pick, would they really want Love, Beasley, Williams, Randolph, and one of the above listed players. That is a lot of depth, but they have bigger needs.

Enes Kanter should have been the pick in my opinion. His offensive game and toughness will be great in the NBA. Not just that but he fits in at C and can start right away. Not only that, but one of the above players could maybe be drafted in 2012 in Minnesota picked Kanter. Now with Williams, Minnesota elimanted 8 of the top 15 players to choose from.

I think Williams will be great in the NBA, but because of the logjam, they would got more value out of Enes Kanter, then Derrick Williams. Also, they could have added forward depth easily in 2012 in a forward heavy draft.

Kevin Love and Derrick

Kevin Love and Derrick Williams is a better combo than Kevin Love and any of those other guys.

Harrison Barnes is good but I am not sure he is the athlete that D-Dubya is.

I agree though that Kanter would have been pretty nice too. But, with Williams they have a guy that can run with Rubio. The T Wolves now have some of everything and now only need a solid 3 point sniper off the bench. With all the draft day trading that Kahn did I can't believe he couldn't come away with Jon Diebler or Andrew Goudelock.

Those guys on the list all look like tweeners to me, with the exception of Jared Sullinger who is pretty much a legit power forward.

Next year's draft looks like it has a poor man's Derrick Williams, a poor man's Anthony Randolph (or two), a broke man's Kevin Love, a poor man's Michael Beasley, and a poor man's Wesley Johnson. I like what the T Wolves have, a good young core with a couple of solid vets in Darko, Ridnour, and Brad Miller.

They have Martell Webster and

They have Martell Webster and Wayne Ellington off the bench who both shot 40% from 3 last year.

Kanter

Kanter would have been a good pick too, but MN needed to go with BPA and that was D Will. Maybe a few years from now you can look back and say that Kanter would have been the better pick but D Will has grown his game over the past two years at a high level of competition and the same can't be said for Kanter. They don't have their own pick in 2012 but they have Chicago's and can get a 1st rounder plus more if they trade Beasley. Then they will own multiple picks in a deep draft

I partly agree with that. To

I partly agree with that. To be honest I think the cavs were idiots when they drafted irving. They could have drafted d will, the minnesota would definitely have drafted kanter, then jazz would have had to decide between knight and irving, and to be honest irving isn't gonna be that much better in the long run.

So they would have ended up with d-will and knight/irving. much better than what they have now.

So with this draft, should minn have drafted kanter? Unless they trade Beasley/d-will, then it doesn't matter. If they don't trade them, then they should have just drafted kanter. But I think d-will has better trade value then kanter so.....

@mds0549: Yeah that's a good

@mds0549: Yeah that's a good Idea. They could trade Beasley for a high lottery pick and more and get austin rivers or brad beals, whoever is better and available.

The Cavs have to hope they

The Cavs have to hope they get Harrison Barnes and that he turns into a superstar. Other than that they will have to chose among power forwards and tweeners who probably aren't as good as Derrick Williams. No great center, Austin Rivers might be great, but who knows. Other than some solid shooting guards the real value in next year's draft is at point guard with Myck Kabongo (potential) and Kendall Marshall (pass-first playmaker who can quarterback a team). As far as the most polished guy that has a true position, OSU's Jared Sullinger is the top guy in the draft. Unfortantely, he is a power forward and probably couldn't play more than 2 minutes a night at center.

The Cavs really aren't that setup for the 2012 draft, especially if they can't get Harrison Barnes.

minny has no high pick next

minny has no high pick next year...

this year i think they did not went with kanter because he is similar to al jefferson. great scorer and rebounder but not really a defensive presence. if you remember they moved jefferson because he wasn´t fitting next to love in kahn´s opinion.

they are a bad team and if you are a bad team you don´t draft for need. you go for the best player avalible and that was williams. not by much but kanter had more question marks.

they collect players and hope to either find a superstar amongst them or package them and trade for one....

When will people learn? It's hard enough projecting where one player will be drafted let alone the positions of strength in the draft before the college season has even begun.

How do you know that guys like Austin Rivers, Quincey Miller, Michael Gilchrist, Brad Beal and Lebryan Nash won't emerge as top 5 prospects?

How do you know that some of these top PFs and forward tweeners like Antony Davis and James McAdoo won't decide to stay in school an extra year?

Last year at this time how many people would have said that Derrick Williams and Tristan Thompson would be top 4 picks. Or that point guards like Kemba Walker and Jimmer would go top 10 (hell I was receiving alot of flak for saying Brandon Knight would go top 10)

NBA teams cant afford to second guess their draft day decisions because of what the draft pool MIGHT look like the following year.

I have a fealing that Enes

I have a fealing that Enes won't be able to play center effectively and will have to switch to PF much like Al Horford aka his predraft comparison. So if Minni did take him they would still have the same problem.

@ the I in win: Enes kanter

@ the I in win: Enes kanter is 6'11. d will is 6'8 3/4. big size difference. And I doubt kanter will play pf. He's got a really strong body which is what every team needs in a center to compete with the likes of dwight. Kanter has the potential to be ROY
