Who's impressed with Brandan Wright?
Has only missed 1 fg attempt in these 2 games. 5 for 5 vs lakers 7 for 8 vs jazz. 5 Blocked shots already. He's put on 15-20 pounds and it seems to have made a big difference. Always had huge upside. Thoughts ?
This is the typical Jermaine O'Neal Portland to Indiana situation. A prospect gets stuck on the bench and people say they are a bust etc. but then when they get minutes it is like a revelation that this guy is pretty good.
Are you guys even watching the games? Collison penetrates, the defender slides, and he just dumps it to Wright so (with the added weight) has been able to have a few and 1 dunks
I have watched the games and Brandans been in position on defense, alterting shots. He's been moving without the ball well, being very active. I am not saying that Brandan is an MVP candidate but with him in the starting lineup these first few games he looks like a solid NBA role player in that Tyson Chandler kinda way while before he was thought of as a bust.
Tyson Chandler's a solid name to bring up when talking about how Wright's getting his buckets. He's being a very efficient finisher. They're not really calling any plays for him, but he's catching in traffic and utilizing his length and soft touch to finish. He's also challenging shots well, but he needs to be a bit more active on the boards.
It's taken him 4-5 yrs with all those setbacks to get physically ready to contribute, but he's primed now. I don't think he'll ever be a star, but it's possible that he could be a slightly below average to average starter at the PF position
He still doesn't rebound enough to be a starting PF. I see him as an energy player who will run the floor and block shots and score in variety of ways.
Wright has always put up impressive per minute stats. His issue has always been health. The guy can put up solid numbers if he can stay healthy and I hope he stays healthy because I think he is a talented player.
Brandon wright has all been good for the Mavs but the situation was that we have dirk at the 4 and wright wasn't big enough to solidify the middle and rebound at the center position but now that he is bigger he can more at the 5 and show what he gots
I think he's a solid player and his length is crazy. It's good to see him playing well because he looked like he'd fall out of the league at one point.
