Who's Better?!
It's close, but I think Harris is better. Brooks had a better year than Harris did last season, but if you compare Harris 08-09 season to Brooks' career season last year, Harris is better. You aren't alone in the thought that Harris is overrated though. I've been saying that since last off-season.
Also, even though the scoring ability of both of them is pretty even and neither is a pure playmaker, Harris is better as a natural playmaker for others than Brooks is, which has to count for alot being that both are PG's. Also, even though Harris hasn't defended for the Nets like he did for the Mavs (largely due to the offensive role he's shouldering), he's still a better defender than Brooks is. Brooks is EXTREMELY mediocre on D.
It depends on what you want from your player. If it's shooting I'd go with Brooks, if it's slashing I'd go with Harris. Also Harris has the height advantage over Brooks, so to me he is the safer bet.
I think Brooks is a better scorer especially shooting wise & getting to the basket and finishing, if you watch some of his moves. they're amazing for his size.
I didn't think of the size difference though, that's a good point, good reason to pick Harris because Brooks can be a defensive liability, but then again he makes his defender work just as hard guarding him. I think having Yao back there will help make him look better this year & him & Martin have been saying their focus is Defense.. Just have to wait 'till the season to see if it works out.
IF healthy, I'd go with Harris. He's a top 10-12 point guard when healthy and not too many guards have his combination of size, speed/quickness, athleticism, etc.
I think Brooks is better because he is younger, has more potential, is a slightly better athlete, is an easily better shooter, and most importantly the Rockets win with Brooks. Harris has always been overrated in my eyes. You're talking about the 5th pick of the draft coming out of college as a JR and it took him over 3 years to even average over ten points a game and when he did his shooting percentage dropped down to like 42 percent which is bad.
Harris is a better defender and I wanna say he is a better playmaker but not by much because Harris is not known for making his teammates better.
Brooks is still getting better, I bet Harris never averages over 20 points a game again in his career, not unless he improves his outside shooting which he loves doing but is not that good at.
Devin harris averaged 9.9 in his second year and 10.2 pts his third year. So it did not take him over 3 years to even average over 10 pts. And he shot 47% and 49% those years respectively.
And aaron brooks has shot 41, 40 and 43% in his first three years.
I'm not that pro harris, but i would say he has been better, but brooks' season last season could be a sign that he can be better if he holds his numbers.

Who is better of the two, Aaron Brooks or Devin Harris, and why?
I'm completely serious with this question, I honestly feel Harris is overrated & I think Brooks may be better at this point and has more potential as well.
