high floorParticipantPer David Aldridge of NBA.com, Orlando had a midnight meeting with Paul Millsap. Serious interest exist from both sides.
I thought Paul Millsap was the biggest contributor to Atlanta’s success last season, and this is the kind of move that automatically vaults Orlando into playoff contention.
Orlando is also still insisting that they are matching Tobias Harris offer sheet as well. Vuc/Millsap/Harris/Oladipo/Payton is a very solid starting 5.

FearTheStacheParticipantHezonja, Gordon, Harkless of the bench, not bad

high floorParticipantDon’t forget Fournier as well. He has the talent to be a 14-16ppg scorer off the bench if given minutes. His floor spacing is key

FearTheStacheParticipantI think they’re a playoff team in the East without Millsap. Doesn’t really speak much of the team, more to how bad the East is

high floorParticipantDoes this seal the deal for Millsap to Orlando?!?
I guess Splitter could come off the bench now that Pero Antic is leaving.. but I imagine Budz did this deal to start Splitter and move Al Horford to PF. No way ATL pays Millsap 80mil over 4 years to come off the bench or play heavy SF minutes

Bmore_DCParticipantThats a good fit, they need a power forward and more scoring. he can score and rebound for sure. I kinda hope ATL matches it though, i like the Millsap/Horford combo.
If its a sign/trade for Tobias Harris that makes sense too for both teams, but who will start at the 3 for Orlando?

ZachAttackParticipantThis might get me negs, but they could go with a 3 guard starting lineup with Payton at 1, Oladipo at 2, and then Hezonja at 3. I honestly think that that would be a scary starting five.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI would start Mario at the 3.
Payton, Oladipo, Mario, Millsap, and Vucevic looks like a promising starting 5. Aaron Gordon looks like their 6th man. I could see AG at the 4 with small ball lineups featuring Millsap at center.
That is a REALLY interesting team.

King CaluchaParticipantAl Horford receiving heavy minutes at PF is very very intriguing. Also, since Demarre Caroll is leaving, I wonder who their target is now.

Bmore_DCParticipantI didnt neg you but i donno about Hezonja at the 3…
This is why i was confused why they didnt take Winslow, but maybe with Hezonjas athletism, he can guard at the 3, i just dont see it.
Think about some of the Small Forwards around the league…

King CaluchaParticipantHezonja is probably getting heavy minutes at the 3. He has the size (6’8”), athleticism and willingness to defend, eventhough he’s not great. I think he can do OK at that position.
Regardless of the overall level of the league at that position, what the Magic needed is someone putting the ball in the hoop. The other guys really struggle doing so.

Bmore_DCParticipantYea i agree completely…I guess Hezonja is bigger than i thought. They do need scoring and he can do that.

SoIntentionalParticipant$20mil a year next year and the year after that will be an attractive contract with the CAP going up so dramatically, so his $20 mill a year right now, would look more like $12 mill a year with the CAP increases

HitsterParticipantInteresting move if Millsap does go to Orlando, the tax in that state is perhaps more favourable than in Atlanta as was always rumoured the Heat used as a selling point.
I hope that it doesn’t take minutes away from Aaron Gordon long term. Aaron is still only 19 so playing behind an excellent pro like Millsap will be good for him and him and Millsap can always flip roles in 2 or 3 years time. If minutes are given to Gordon then I quite like this deal.
If Atlanta get Harris back then they don’t do badly but if they lose Millsap as well as Carroll they have lost 40% of their starters. Splitter is a quality player but won’t score as much as Millsap and for ateam without a real volume scorer these could be two big loses. Korver is pushing 34 now so may not be contributing so much long term, I wonder if he may move to SF if Harris didn’t come over and allow Schroeder to start alongside Teague in the backcourt.

Bmore_DCParticipantI forgot to mention, a big reason Orlando drafted Gordon so high last year, was because they think he can play the 3 a little bit as well, so we shall see…
