KHAM83ParticipantWith Howard expected to opt out and up for a max deal starting at 29+ million, do you think any team would actually pay him that on a long-term deal?

For_Never_EverParticipantI don’t believe any team would give him a Max deal.

Magic JordanParticipantI don’t think anyone will pay that either. And I wish there was a camera following him in the off season to capture the moment when he realizes no team will pay that. That tantrum will be priceless.

For_Never_EverParticipantI’m trying to think what team even wants him, and I’m having a really hard time thinking of one.

r377Participant$60m over two years. $30 mill per season. How did this get +10 ? This is not 2K 2011, no way he is worth $30mill
Dwight Howard has a lot of miles. Next season will be his 12th season. He has a bad back and a bad attitude

DaGuywhodidurmaParticipantI could see the Nets trading brook Lopez and signing dwight.
Both guys are injury prone but dwight is an easier guy to build a competitive team around. His defense even though it has declined is so much better than brooks that it makes up for his offense being sub par.
If they can trade Lopez for either a young complimentary piece or a veteran on a good deal then I think the Nets might be half decent next year.
Other than the Nets I don’t see another team desperate for him. well Maybe Boston who needs a center signs him to the max since they already have the Nets picks anyways and don’t need more young players.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantMiami will show interest if Whiteside bolts. Atlanta probably will too if they don’t keep horford. Celtics, Knicks, and nets will all be in the mix as well. He probably will either have to take less or sign a shorter deal as no one will offer him a 4 year max at this stage of his career.

oogellsParticipantOf course he should go to the Lakers, Jim Buss is dumb enough to pay him, and he would love trying to be funny in LA. And the Lakers have a glaring need at center. Wait, getting long term memory back… o yea that went horribly. Shame he can’t go ruin the Lakers a 2nd time. But seriously as someone said before someone will give him at least 2-60. Dallas I would think would be a legit landing spot for him.

OaktownWarriorsParticipantGM/Coach/Cry-baby Doc Rivers has made plenty of bad moves and trades. And the Clippers are very desperate. In the beginning of this past season, the Clippers thought signing Stephenson and Josh Smith were big moves? I could see them trying for Howard.

Chariot OrgI think a small part of the reason the Celtics are playing so well is because they all get paid between 2-7 million dollars, except David Lee at 15, and Amir Johnson is making 12.
If Dwight showed up and was making 29 million next year, I think that would cause some resentment from guys like IT, Bradley, and Crowder.
That goes for Horford too.
But even half a season with Dwight, or one third as the case may be, would be very valuable to the Celtics.
Celtics are already low level contenders, and adding Dwight would make us as good as any team in the East.
And the Celtics already match up incredibly well with Golden State. So well that we took them to overtime when they were still undefeated.
Dwight might give Boston a 25% chance to win a title this year, and that’s worth a good amount of assets.
But Houston is dumb, and they’ll screw themselves by being too greedy for a half year rental of Howard.
Ainge is probably trying to low ball them and make them sweat. The Howard/Harden situation is probably already beyond toxic, and days away from spilling out into the media.
Houston has very little leverage.
You’d think three mid-late first rounders would do it, if Houston smartens up before the deadline.

morestealsthanscoresParticipantI looked through the whole NBA trying to find potential trade partners, given that he’s now on the block.
The only good ones I could find were Milwaukee (ending the Monroe experiment – but they’d probably need something else from Houston, and would be taking on salary), Portland (could be done, especially if they want to flip McCollum whilst his value is high), and Indiana (consistent coaching and great setup, but need more talent).
Two left field, unlikely options – Dallas (always hungry for a deal – but would they be able to find one with Houston?) and OKC (Need to ramp up their D and need a consistent third option – but do they have the assets or the capspace, and would Houston want to help them towards a title)
