Who wins one on one? Kobe vs. Kyrie
Kobe has a better 3 point shot and has the height that would be very difficult for Kyrie to contest. Many 1 on 1 games are decided on who is the better outside shooter.
Kobe may be the best jump shooter in the league right now, but he is not a better 3 point shooter. His mid range game is phenominal and if he is on shooting wise he would win every time due to height/length. There are many guys in the league that are better 3 point shooters than Kobe.
Lol are yall serious??? Kobe Bryant would Kill Kyrie in one on one game RIGHT NOW, Kobe is the ultimate one on one player.
And JoeWolf, i agree to an extent, alot of one on one games are determined by your defense as well, if your guarding someone quicker than you or just a person who can get to the rim really good in a real game it's always harder for them to get a bucket because they have to worry about helpside, spacing, other teammates in the way etc....
But when it's just him and another person it's curtains, you have no help, your defense determines alot as well.
Long story short I hoop against this super quick dude on the regular in rec leagues, pick up games and he is super quick but I can somewhat stop him because it's 4 other ppl out there helping, but if it was one on one and me and him just on that island it probably be a wrap lol.
^ Yeah, and a 20-30lb weight advantage in a one on one game is a pretty big factor as well.
Right, I think Kobe would kill Kyrie my honest opinion, shut him out honestly. Kobe is going to stop Kyrie, maybe not all the time, but he will get stops, he's stronger and bigger than Irving.
There's not a chance Kyrie is stopping Kobe, and Kobe's not going to play with him, he's just going to take him on that block and kill em.
If they play to 10 Kobe wins 10-2.
Funny video. Love the kid Kyrie. Would be interesting to watch though. Don't sleep on Kyrie, we haven;t even seen most of Kyries crazy handle and one on one would be a great time to show it. Kobe does have major height and weight on Kyrie. Would you still pick Kobe if Kyrie was the same height and weight on Kobe?
Yes i'd still pick Kobe if Kyrie was 6'7 220, Kobe is a SCORER a big big big time scorer at that, one on one is his game,Kyrie can't beat Kobe at his own game, it's like Kyrie playing MJ one on one, not much of a drop off.
Kobe has his great days and bad days just like everyone else. If they played 1 on 1 ten different times I would say Kobe would win 7 and Kyrie 3. Wouldn't be surprised about an 8 to 2, but 7 to 3 seems about right.
Naw if they play 10 times, Kobe wins 9 to 1 maybe even 10 to 0.
I understand the hype about Kyrie, but yall are really disrespecting Kobe right now, Kyrie is a kid still, Kobe is a grown man, and has been doing this for years, no disrespect at all to Kyrie, but cmon yall let's be serious here.
How cool would that actually be if at all star weekend they had a 1 on 1 tournament instead of some of the lame stuff they have going on. I would take Lebron, Durant and then Kobe....Kyrie is very nice but I wouldn't even put him in the top 10 of 1 on 1 players yet.
This can't be a serious question, Kyrie is good but there are a good amount of 6'6 sg/sf that would beat him. Kennith Faried and Gereld Wallace would. Not because they are more skilled but they height and size factor is very importan when it comes to one on one. You miss one shot and that could be it
@fastandfurious I think Kobe would give a good 70% of the time and maybe even 80% but sometimes his shots just isn't falling. I am a huge Kobe fan, but I am not going to say he would win 10 times out of 10. Kyrie is going to get hot tooand win a couple.
Kobe give 70-80 percent??? You must not know kobe very well, there isn't another star as competitive as him, he would not want to lose at all. He would take zero jumpers and just back down Kyrie for every point like you're father or uncle would do when you were young if the game was close( not just you personally but all of us who have played our fathers, uncle's or older male when we were young)
I am a huge Cavs fan and Kyrie is amazing, but Kobe would win a best of 10 for sure. In just a single game though, not sure how you can be that confident one way or the other. On any given night a player can be feeling it and beat someone better than them.
Overall, as long as Kobe is alright being beat off the dribble a few times he would win it on the perimeter with length and defense. Kyrie is not a great defender to this point and really wouldn't be able to contest any of Kobe's shots.
I don't think Irving could beat Kobe once. Maybe he'd score some nice buckets or Kobe might toy with him until things got serious just so he could make it interesting.
Irving's margin of error to beat Kobe would be so small. Like it was said above... One miss and that could be it.
This is not a real basketball game, I doubt if Kobe shoots any jumpers on Kyrie, he will just back him down to the post man, bullyball, grown man style.
50,000 dollars is on the line, Kobe is not going to play with him.
Depending on his shoes, D. Wade is 6' 4.75" - 6' 5" with a 6' 10.5" wingspan... Before last season he came in at 232 lbs with like 4% body fat, according to Michael Wallace's twitter.
He's not a giant, but he's big and strong as F. A lot bigger than Rose and Westbrook in just about every way.
I think Westbrook and Rose could beat or give guys like Joe Johnson,Rudy Gay, Tyreke Evans, Carmelo Anthony(No Defense) a run for their money.
They may be little, but guarding them one on one for any of those guys Kobe,Lebron, etc with no help would be a nightmare, im tellin yall.
Joe Johnson is 6' 7" 240. Carmelo Anthony is about 6' 8" 230. Rudy Gay is 6' 8" 230. Tyreke Evans is 6' 6" 220.
I think D. Rose and Westbrook would compete hard, but I just don't see how they could beat these guys in a half court setting with no picks. One miss and it could be a wrap.
How about we start another game between:
D. Rose, Westbrook, CP3, D-Will, Irving, Wall, Parker, Jennings, Holiday, Curry, Bledsoe and Teague. Throw Rondo in there too. Throw in a couple of combo guards like Gordon, Ellis and Mayo.
Now, that would be fun. No pick and rolls. Just straight up one on one. This is how they do it in training sessions. They play a game where everybody gets in a line and the player who beats everyone once, wins. IF not, you have to go to the back of the line and start over.
Kobe is the league's premier 1 on 1 player. We haven't seen anyone as good as Kobe 1 on 1 since MJ, who is probably the only player better than Kobe 1 on 1 in league history. Kobe has an advantage in height, weight, strength and defensive technique. He might still out jump Kyrie, who is not a freakish athlete, and their outside shooting is pretty similar.
To be clear: I am not a Kobe fan. I am a Kyrie fan and I love his game in a team setting. But I try to be fair in my judgements despite my personal preferences. Kobe is simply an amazing 1 on 1 player and one of the best technical scorers in the history of the game.
I think it would be pretty close actually, just for lack of stops. If 5 guys can't stop Kyrie from getting to his spot with that handle how can 1, even Kobe? Kyrie wouldn't be able to guard Kobe in the post though, like at all. Maybe like 11-7 or 11-8. And how is Kobe's 3 better? IMO Kobe's 3 is the most overrated part of his game.
I say Kyrie has the advantage in quickness, athleticism (don't sleep on it, he can actually get up), ballhandling (in the respect that he uses handles to his advantage more than Kobe would in 1 on 1), and outside shooting stroke. Also, don't forget how crafty of a finisher Kyrie is. I'd say that his body control in the air is better than Kobe's is in his old age (and no I haven't forgotten about how amazing Kobe's is, he just doesn't choose to finish that way as much as he used to)
Kobe's advantages lie in defense, size and length, post game, midrange game, experience, and FOOTWORK. Footwork is the biggest reason Kobe's unguardable one on one. He has a counter for every move and a counter for every countermove.
Still, I'm willing to bet Kyrie is one of the best 1 on 1 players in the league especially at pg. Kobe's probably one of those guys who can't be beaten (like LeBron and Durant)
Kobe would kill. Kobe is a one on one machine. Also Kobe may have bad games against team defense but one on one Kobe will put himself in position for easy shots. His foot work is crazy. He can do those move and fake out 3 or 4 people so you know against one person, it would not be fair.
The only way Kyrie is scoring 7 points on Kobe is if Kobe spots him 6 points lol Kyrie may have the advantage in quickness by a tad, but Kobe's length will elimiate that small advantage Kyrie has.
That's the only thing Kyrie has going for him and it's really not an advantage, Kobe would blow Kyrie out, no questions, Kobe would only have problems with guys like Lebron,KD,Melo that's it.
@RICO: I too think Rose and Westbrook could beat some top tier guys in the NBA one on one.
Kobe would hav his way offensively. I dont think he would shut kyrie out though. I think Kyrie could score, but the game wouldnt be close. Once kobe goes in the post its pretty much over.
That is a seriously good idea for one on ones on all star weekend. I would love to watch that.

Video
Lol Kyrie "What you think I'm Bow wow?" Kobe "You two are about the same height"
But seriously who do you guys think wins? My money is on Kobe because of his post game.
(Sorry guys I would embed the video but it's not showing the old embed code. Does anyone know how to deal with that?)
