Lakers or 76ers?  Both are just downright terrible.  I say the 76ers will sneak one in soon with Tony "Sharknado" Wroten leading the charge.

Lakers’ schedule is a little tougher for the next few weeks, but the Lakers have a lot more offensive talent. The Sixers do seem to play to their strengths more. as the super up-tempo aggressive style of the Sixers can lead them to be burned, but it is a better style of play for a bad team looking for an upset. But I just don’t know how the Sixers can close a game out with how bad their half court offense is.  The Sixers actually had a close game vs. the Bucks in which they were down only one point with 8:21 left, but then didn’t score a single point the rest of the way, despite the Bucks not even having their best defensive unit in the game.  The Lakers could at least steal a game in which Kobe dominates or Lin has a hot shooting night.

Bad teams should slow down the tempo for a better chance to win. The 76ers play uptempo because they want to inflate their stats.

Yes, a lower sample size has more variation, so theoretically a team has a better chance of pulling an upset if there are fewer possessions in the game.

But it doesn’t always work like that in practice.  By playing pressure defense, the Sixers can hope to get the opponent out of its offensive rhythm that makes it better in the first place.  And by making the game uptempo, the Sixers can turn it into a transition battle, which can negate the opponent’s advantage in the halfcourt.  The lack of skill in the halfcourt by players such as Wroten, Shved, McDaniels and Noel can be deemphasized if the Sixers get out and run.

I don’t think the Sixers’ uptempo style is for the express purpose of stat inflation.  I think it is just to emphasize their advantages over opponents: youth and athleticism.  The Sixers aren’t going to win by outexecuting their opponent.  They can win by outhustling them, even if that means there will be more possessions in the game.

Plus, high risk strategies can work well for underdogs.  By playing pressure, ball denial defense and uptempo offense, the Sixers can pile up scoring runs they couldn’t by trying to beat opponents at their own games.  If the Sixers can dictate the terms of the game and turn it into a sloppy, TO-filled game, they have a chance of being the better team on that night.

Yes, but the sixers don’t play good defense as a team. They’re better served slowing the game down and praying for the other team to have a bad shooting day.

And their offense is way better in transition.  Slow the game down and they have no way to score.  And their defense is only good if they can pressure the other team.  They aren’t going to defend as well if the opponent is patient or uses the full shot clock.

I hope the 76ers.  Someone else had a post basically asking if it is bad that they are enjoying watching their Pacers lose.  I say no.  I am enjoying watching the Lakers lose as I know it is ultimately what is best for them.  Granted not all Laker fans can think with this type of logic…. so naturally people will hate on this but ultimately, it’s what’s best for them.  To me, there is a difference between tanking and being a bad team… this Lakers team is just flat out bad.  Just good old fashioned bad.  And that’s okay.

I get to see Kobe be entertaining as always, heck… I am even encouraging him to shoot 30+ times this year almost every game because I know what that means for a Lakers outcome.

Lakers also have a pretty wicked schedule for the next couple weeks, I remember looking at the schedule and thinking they could legitimately start 0-14… in which case Charles Barkley would die.

Long term thinker here and to secure the best long term outlook.  A bottom 2 finish is ideal as that gurantees we keep our pick.
