Who will the Pistons and Rockets pick?

Pistons: I have the Pistons pick narrowed down to two players but currently cannot decide between either. Jonas or Brandon Knight. Both are needed because Stuckey is more of a two guard and Knight seems to fit the Pistons better than Walker. Also Jonas would fill a need too because Monroe is more of a 4 than a Center. And Jonas might be the only center available at the 7th pick unless Kanter somehow falls here, but I don't think Kanter gets past the Raptors. Also Jonas has a contract issue and might stay over seas for a bout 1 or 2 years before he comes over. So will Pistons risk that and select Jonas or will they go with Knight because they want immediate help.

Rockets: I know the Rockets need a Center badly, but it seems once again that a Center might not be available. Bismack might sneak into the lottery but he is also a little risky to go with for the 14th pick. The Rockets aren't ones to take risks. Unfortunately Bismack is the only Center worthy of going in the lottery because both Jonas and Kanter will be gone by the 14th pick. So if that is true and the Rockets do not want to take a risk by selecting Bismack then who would they go with? Here is a look at the Rockets depth chart:

  1. Lowry/Dragic
  2. Kevin Martin/Lee/M. Harris
  3. Budinger/T. Williams/D.Carroll
  4. Scola/Patterson/Hill
  5. Miller/Hayes/Yao*

Looking at that their second need after Center would be a second PG and most likely 6th man or a SG in case they deal Lee. Unfortunately I don't expect either positions to be available at the 14th pick. The Jazz desperately need Burks because they have needed a two guard since the dawn of time it seems. And we also know that Jimmer might be their pick at 12. Also Phoenix might go for Jimmer too, because Steve Nash will retire soon and Brooks might be better served as a backup instead of a starter. (If he really is a starter then he would have played better when he was with the Rockets once he came back from injury and Lowry started. He would have proved to the Rockets that he deserves to start over Lowry instead of just whine and pout. Who knows what he'll do if Nash retires and Brooks has to start.) Burks is the only SG in this draft worthy of going in the lottery and I expect both Knight and Walker to be gone by the 10th pick. So Jimmer might be selected by the Rockets but he's more likely to go to Pheonix or Utah. So if I am correct, meaning the Rockets don't want to take a risk on Bismack, and both Jimmer and Burks are not available by the 14th pick, then who would the Rockets take? This one really has me puzzled.

bigs

Unless we get Kyrie or Derrick with the number one pick... Pistons should definitely take Enes, Jonas, or Biyombo, even with a #7 pick.

Enes has strength and scoring talent, Jonas has length and energy, and the ability to block and rebound.

I know Aran's not big on him yet... but Biyombo is more than hype, he's production on a Euro pro-level, and a defensive triple double against top American HS players. He has size, strength, and a 7'7 wingspan. A 7'7 wingspan is an 8 inch lateral advantage and a 4 inch advantage vertically over a 6'11 wingspan.

The Pistons need his defense desperately, and on offense all he has to do is catch dunks from Greg Monroe... which supposedly is all he can do at this point. So he'll fit in perfectly.

What about the Rockets

But what about the Rockets. I'm not really too concerned about the Pistons, just a little. The pick that really has me puzzled is the Rockets. I see what you are saying, Oh Canada with bpa but the problem is the best player available at 14 is likely Markieff/Marcus Morris, Kawhi Leonard or Terrance Jones. All of those players play positions that the Rockets really don't need and are really stacked at. Neither of the 4 would get much playing time if the Rockets selected them.

Could the Rockets trade their 14th pick to either the Suns or the Jazz. (whichever team picks Jimmer) The Jazz are in need of a SF in case AK signs elsewhere next season, so I could see the Jazz trade down to select either Kawhi Leonard or Terrence Jones and a trade with the Rockets is very possible, I think, since Jimmer might not be available at pick 14 and certainly Burks won't be there either.

Lol at taking Biyambo with

Lol at taking Biyambo with the 7th overall pick. Sorry but that is just wrong. I know you guys have been comparing him to ben wallace, and that would be an ideal place for him to try to conquer those comparisons, although you do not take Joel Anthony with the 7th overall pick. Valanciunas will likely be available at that selection and if your so keen on draftin a Center picking him would be smart. I love Biyambo but hes just not that guy.

I Dont know why everyone is

I Dont know why everyone is Hyping Bismack....Dude has no offensive skills and his dynamic athletic skills in an all star game against high schoolers is no reason to say he's the next Big Ben...

There is question marks about

There is question marks about bismacks age, But if he is 18 really than he absolutly dominated his age group at the Nike hoop summit. If those question marks are answered there is no reason he shouldn't be considered a Major Prospect.

I agree that the Pistons

I agree that the Pistons should look for a true point guard or a C. If they get in the lottery top 3 then Irving is the logical pick, at 7 they could take Knight or maybe take a shot at Kemba but he may be a bit too similar to Stuckley and a 6ft PG alongside say Ben Gordon would be a huge defensive liability.

They need a genuine C to allow Monroe to develop as a full time PF so Kanter if available at 7 would be the best fit but a lot of frontcourters in that range are European bigs so could Dumars risk taking someone who could be Darko number 2 I wonder. Bismark would be a huge risk at 7th in the draft for an undersized frontcourt player, in the md first round he becomes a less risky pick.

For Houston it's hard to say where they go as they have a decent frontcourt and several prospects already in situ like Patterson, Hill, Thabeet and also have Hayes and Miller under contract as well as Scola. Maybe they look for another intangibles guy now they have lost Battier and released Jeffries or they look at someone like Jimmer since they traded Brooks. Terence Jones might be a decent fit at SF if he does fall to about 14th.

But with Daryl Morey having all these picks stashed and young talent stashed I wonder if he might look to make a bold move and move up to try and get someone like Jan Vesley if he goes say in 5 to 8 range.

Rockets should package their

Rockets should package their pick and another young prospect to trade up in the lottery.

I played on NBA2K11 and non-stop lottery pick offers for Patrick Patterson who I prefer to keep.
I know it's a game, but I think he is valued high around the league.. Although I see him as our Power Forward of the future. If anything, see if Terrence Williams, Jordan Hill, and a veteran with the pick can help us move up. We are in desperate need of a center.. We've waited on Yao enough..

At worse, we draft Terrence Jones and see his future. Would the Raptors be willing to trade Bargnani for the 14th Pick and a Prospect?

Or draft Jimmer, bring some excitement to the city.

Rockets will go for SF imo,

Rockets will go for SF imo, Budinger probably isn't a starting caliber player at that position, he is much more suite to a six man role and also doesn't complement Martin well, they need an all around SF who play good defense and there is in this draft some good options: Kawhi Leonard, Jan Vesely or even Terrence Jones if he falls there!

I think its funny how as soon

I think its funny how as soon as Aran puts Vesely in his Top 5 prospects everyone jumps abourd the Vesely train, another funny thing is how Mirotic was veiwed by many as the better prospect in their head to head matchup and most people dont even know his name.

There should be no moving up in this draft to select Vesely over Leonard or T.Jones that is just a bad idea. Especially when Vesely isnt even a true lock for 1st half of the lotto, this website just really likes him.
