As everyone knows…there’s only 1 way to win in fantasy basketball.

    OUTPERFORMING AVERAGE DRAFT POSITION.

So which players do you see sneaking under the radar on draft night?

Doesn’t matter if they’re taken in the first or 12th round…but share a player who will fly under the radar and elecate your fantasy team up the standings.

My pick is J. Nurkic from Denver. Going to get minutes and post a top-30 fantasy line through extended minutes, talent and efficiency. Average draft position I suspect will be closer to 50.

I actually agree. Walter Tavares will be a high level player for the Hawks. He has very good agillity  and coordination for his size. The Hawks may have the deepest frontcourt in the league. Millsap, Horford, Splitter, and Tavares are all starters in this league. I expect to see Millsap see a lot of time at SF this year.

*C.J McCollum – He’s being drafted in the late rounds but will provide a mid-round output

    *Rudy Gobert – He’s being drafted consistently after pick 20.. that’s a mistake. Could definitely put up 13&13 w/ 2.5 blks. Won’t torpedo ft% like Drummond/DJ/Howard either

*Danny Green – Criminally underrated in 9-cat leagues. Puts up huge 3pt, blk, stl numbers nightly

*Myles Turner – Should get playing time right out of the gate. I like bigs who block shots & hit free throws

vmmbmbmmmv I just drafted another fantasy team I think I have like 15 in all in both basketball and football combined. The joys of being 14… jk. But one guy that was really low was Lance Stephenson. I know he had a crappy stand in Charlotte, but I just don’t think Clifford was pushing him as much as Vogel did in Indiana. I think that on this Clippers team he could really shine.

I just looked at his draft percentage and it’s 2%!!! He’s better than that.

I agree with CJ having a good year.

I think the rest of the Blazers starters (Leonard, Aminu, Crabbe and Henderson) will have chances to be better then their projections.

Other players I feel that fall into this category are:

    Juluis Randle

    Stanley Johnson

    Danilo Gallinari

I don’t play fantasy, but I’d imagine David Lee is underrated. He might end up being Boston’s #1 scoring option all year, and as starting PF he should get lots of rebounds.

With so many PF’s on the Celtics, I don’t see Lee contributing to any fantasy teams unless he plays around 30 mins/game but that will hurt the development of some players on that team. The only Celtic I should be targeting on draft day regardless of playing time on the Celtics will be Isaiah Thomas.

Batum will be relied on for offense.  plus contract year. Plus he fills all categories.

I’ve noticed Eric Gordon going really late, from reports he is fit and healthy and could be a good late round option. Reggae Jackson is going a bit higher but I think he is still under valued a bit.

Jarrett Jack. This one, I’m sure will be a steal. I feel like a lot will always view him as a backup pg, when in fact this year, he has no playing time competition aside from Shane Larkin.

Andrew Wiggins will outperform his ave. draft position based on the fact that he’s the no.1 option on the Wolves which means more points and more contributions to the team and stats. Some are already mentioned like CJ McCollum and Eric Gordon but another guy would be Gerald Green especially if Wade and Deng are out for a few games but you need to be in a very deep league to even consider Green.

I think this all comes down to fantasy theory, and how people make thier teams. Personally, I go guard heavy at the top of the draft and take guys like Curry, Westbrook, CP3, in the first, and players like IT, Jackson, Kemba in the 2nd or 3rd round. After I get my guards who I know will put up the stats, I tend to fill out my bench with high impact bigs who play big minutes. I recommend this strategy to anyone, because bigs typically go later, and they also have a higher chance of going off in multiple categories like blocks/steals/rebounds/points/fg%. With that in mind, I would look to draft guys like:

David Lee, and no, I’m not saying that because I’m a celtic fan. He’s going to be playing good minutes on a team that is pass heavy, runs a ton of pick and rolls, and is by far the best overall scorer and rebounder on the team. Look for him to average 13/8/3 on good percentages for a good portion of the year.

Another player worth drafting and seeing how they do would be Ed Davis. He’s going to be the starter for a terrible POR team, will play both PF and C, and is going to be their go to guy in the post when they need him. He put up a solid 8/8/1.2 with 1.2 blocks and shot over 60% from the field in only 23 minutes last year. He’s going to be playing more, and I don’t see why he won’t atleast match those stats from last year. He’s a good guy to have in utility situations, and probably won’t get drafted that high.

John Henson. I think he’s going to have a big year, and his ability to go off is fantastic. I love grabbing a big who can get me a double-double anynight, and potentially 5 blocks every other night. Sometimes that one player, even  though he doesn’t effect other categories, Henson can push the needle in games when he has a month like he did last year in March were he put up double digit points with almost 3 blocks a game. Def. worth taking a risk on

Some guys that may get overlooked for their draft position in fantasy:

    1. Derrick Favors- As he isn’t considered a top fan favorite Favors Fantasy Value could be through the roof this year as he is a threat to avg close to 20 and 10 and also register block shots. As Utah continues to go to the young big Favors could be one of the better bigs in the Western Conference.

    2. Kobe Bryant- I know people laugh at Bryant’s inclusion here, but stop to think. In most leagues he has the propensity to possibly be a 4th or 5th round pick, which by some standards may be fair. If he can avg 22/23 a game he may have 1st or 2nd round value however based on how many teams are in your league or whoever else you have on your team. Don’t forget one thing, the list of 20ppg game scorers each year is not a long one and very few players will average above that number. Bryant will for certain no matter how much the Lakers win or lose so his fantasy value should still remain quite high.

    3. Omer Asik- A true Fantasy sleeper but perhaps a player you should consider taking in your top three rounds. Consider this. Asik will play beside Anthony Davis all year who will see double team after double team. Although Asik is not considered an offensive player this will leave him alone on the glass to do what he does best which is rebound the basketball. With more potential for offensive rebounds with Davis shooting jumpers, Asik’s rebounding numbers may continue to climb and if some of those are offensive and he gets put backs then that helps his scoring numbers to improve. If that happens he could be a sure double double threat in a league with so very few guys averaging over 10 in each category. With this being the case he has a chance to lead the league in rebounding this year or be a top 3 to 4 guy insuring his fantasy value.

     I took Kobe relatively late.

I also have Myers Leonard and Mason Plumlee as my sleeper combo.

I took Porzingas.  Can’t remember where though… He is a guy that can really do a lot of damage.

I like getting guys with size though.  I also have Marc Gasol and I think Hassan Whiteside too.

I went after some bigger point guards later on like MCW and then Derrick Rose.  I also have D Wade and he is also point guard eligible.

With my second to last pick I took Tony Allen — not bad usually with a late late pick.  He gives you some steals, boards, and still gets about 7 or 8 points a night and is solid with FG%.  I think he might be SF eligible too…

I took Paul Pierce with my last pick.  I think he can give you some 3’s, some boards, and some assists.  He might also be their 4th option on offense some nights, so he can chip in a few points.  3’s and FT% weren’t my best categories anyway so he at least helps me there.

TA and PP give you some upside if they play enough minutes.  But, they have fairly limited downside if you take them that low.  Put those two SF’s together and they might be able to equal the production of one of the SF’s taken way higher in the draft…
