Who will be the best athlete in the combine
I haven't seen much, but I think either Wiggins or LaVine will. Though WCA might be right, Markel can get up there.
Umm probably Andrew Wiggins because he's an absolute freak.
Aaron Gordon will test freakishly too
... assuming he's going to go to the combine.
Glenn Robinson III. I recall he tested extremely well for Michigan in their offseason workouts last summer/early fall. I think he tests very well in the pre-draft phase and locks up a first round pick because of it.
Antetokounbo will be tested very well
He obviously won't test out with the guards, but I think this guy will be the one of the most athletic bigs, if not the most athletic. I like his potential in the early second round and is a guy I think people are sleeping on a little bit.
I was wondering: who looks like they wouldn't test well, but will? And conversely: who looks like they'd test off the charts but will actually be slow?
For the first, I'd go with Jabari Parker. He is explosive and quick for a guy his size, he doesn't look that athletic, but I think some of that was because of injury recovery and putting on muscle.
For the second, I'd say someone like Russ Smith will underwhelm despite always looking really quick. I think he's undersized and that will ultimately hurt him.
"I was wondering: who looks like they wouldn't test well, but will? And conversely: who looks like they'd test off the charts but will actually be slow?"
This stat right here is what keeps me interested the most about the combine.
LaQuintin Ross will have a decent vert, but I suspect he'll be slow in agility and speed drills despite many calling him very athletic.
I think Nik Stoukas will win the Luke Babbitt award, he actually had some pretty solid in game dunks in traffic this year, that's just not his game.
I gotta disagree with Russ, remember that dunk on Julius Randle in the tourney after splitting 2 defenders?
Who will dominate the benchpress test?
Patric Young! Unanimous decision.
IDK, he is ripped, but he has long arms which makes it harder to bench press, I think a short, stocky guy has the best chance of taking it out.
When I was reading the OP I immedialty thought about Young and his strength and bench press ability. He might not be the leader as some shorter guys most of the time top this list but if you haven't seen Patric Youngs workout videos on youtube you should give this a look. If and that's a big if Young measures well around or above 6'10" in shoes he has a good shot beeing selected in mid 2nd round.
People always use the stereotype of the bodybuilding stiffs who really aren't agile but Young might be a Ben Wallace kind of guy down the road. I don't think he will ever be nowhere near a PDOY but he is not just a guy who just stands around the paint as a rim protector. He is a very good help defender and has quick feet.
Don't be surprised to see him having success as a very good rotation player IF he falls to the right team and coaching staff.
No love for K.J. Mcdaniels?
Also think Adreian Payne, Julius Randle, Khem Birch, Noau Vonleh, and Jerami Grant could surprise some people. By no means are they sure things like those listed above buy they could provide a shock or two.
It will be someone random like ronald roberts jr, cory jefferson, thanasis, or pelle
