I’m not usually one for trade proposals.  In fact, I hate them.

Who says no to this?  I don’t think it’s terrible for either team.  This assumes Blazers want a rebuild which they have given no indication that they do.  This also assumes the Bulls would rather have someone that fits Hoibergs vision and they are over the Jimmy Butler era for whatever reason even though I don’t believe they are.  Essentially there are a lot of assumptions here.

Blazers get: Marcus Smart, Tyler Zeller, Jaylen Brown, Denzel Valentine

    Boston gets: Jimmy Butler

Chicago gets: Damian Lillard, 20th pick in this years draft from the Blazers, 19 1st round pick of the Clippers from Boston.

Chicago: Jae Crowder and Marcus Smart Rights to Markelle Fultz

    Boston: Jimmy Butler

No need to involve Portland, Fultz is pretty much the same player Lillard is and younger.

Love Jaylen and Smart but that’s not enough for Portland to move on from Lillard.

I think Fultz is staying in Boston. The Celtics will be able to make the ECF until their real finals push, which will be with Fultz, Bradley, Brown and the big they get with the 2018 pick are in the starting lineup, IT and Horford off the bench. Probably 2019, 2020. The Sixers will be the danger by then if they are all fit. Perhaps the Bucks too,

Lillard isnt going anywhere. They only got half a season in with Nurkic. Some smart pick ups would make them a really good team, but I dont know what you do if you are in the West . Is it really worth chasing right now if you know you are good, but cant win? If San Antonio can win 60+ with Pop and Kawhi and still get swept in the WCF then you really need to consider the value of spending major money in this period.

No way I’d do that if I’m running Boston.

Take Fultz. I view him as "Asset A" and my plan would probably be to try to consolidate Assets B, C, D and E for an impact big man but I’m not moving Fultz. You don’t trade 9 years of controllability for a 28-year-old Jimmy Butler.

In the scenario I mentioned above, Fultz or the pick stays with Boston.

Oh whoops I got caught looking at Robb-C’s trade.

Yeah I would do that if I’m Celtics. Draft Fultz and get Jimmy Butler – that’s tough to turn down. Especially if you can get him without giving up that 18 Brooklyn pick which i would be shocked by.

I don’t know why Portland would want to make that deal though. Lillard is one of the best players in the league. I realize they are going nowhere but I guess I’d rather have Lillard, win 40-50 games a year for the next 6-8 years and lose in the playoffs than trade him for some role players to win 30-40 games and lose in the playoffs or not make the playoffs at all.
