Messing around with trade machine and came up with a straight up 3 team deal that may help each side.

    espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine

All 3 guys have similar PER, but the skillsets may be better utilized elsewhere.

Why ATL does it: They’ve been after Monroe for about 3 years now. He’s a capable passer and gets very deep post position to create easy scoring opportunities at the rim. They also struggle mightly on the defensive glass Monroe would help there. It would also allow Horford to play full-time at the 4 which he prefers.

Why MIL does it: Their defense has fallen off a cliff ever since Larry Sanders walked away last year. The addition of Monroe was a big get for them in free agency, but hasn’t yielded too many positives on the court. Their offensive rating is still in the bottom third of the league and while he’s put up strong numbers individually, it’s not resulting in a winning record for the Bucks. Adding someone like Favors who is more athletic and active at the rim defensively might help up their defense and fuel transition opportunities where they are at their best. He won’t clog the paint as much which can help create better driving lanes for MCW, Giannis, & Jabari.

Why UTAH does it: Millsap is a vet who has familiarity with their organization, coaching staff, and city. He was a fan favorite during his stint there and has only gotten better on both ends of the floor since going to Atlanta. Rarely would I advocate moving a 24 year old productive player who’s under contract long-term for a 30 year old, but this I might make an exception for. Utah wants to make the playoffs now if they can and adding a piece like Millsap who can change the dynamics of their offense and also defend quicker stretch 4’s better can help them achieve that sooner rather than later.

I doubt this would happen as all 3 teams are happy with their guy, but would anyone really hurt from the swap?

I see is something you already mentioned. I don’t think the Jazz would trade the much younger Favors for Millsap. True they would get the better player, but shorten their playoff window from 8 years to 3 years and would then have to find a new go to post scorer.

I also think Trey Lyles is ideal for playing against the small ball 4. He is just not ready yet.

The Jazz won’t trade Favors unless we are getting a back a star or a potential star player. Getting Millsap does nothing for us, he likely doesn’t win us anymore games than Favors would. Favors is also on a much better contract than Millsap.

Now if we are talking a Favors for the Greek Freak I would consider a deal with the Bucks.

Jazz should keep Favors no matter what at this point. He gets better every year and is only 24. He will get better. Paul Millsap is getting older, so we shouldn’t trade for him. Keep Favors for sure.

Atlanta gets considerably worse in this deal.

All the players fit with their teams. Favors is the age of the core in Utah. The hawks are built on passing and spreading the floor and are looking to win now. Millsap fits all of those. While monroe isn’t the best fit for the bucks, he does provide them with a consistant post option and is around the age of their core.
