The Grizz are playing their best ball with ZBo/Gasol as the focal point on offense. Has the success of this team made Gay expendable?
RGay been a fan since fresman season @ UConn, great finisher, great shooter, has the length to play great D. But has he reach his ceiling as a player, which is still a perenial AllStar play he could avg 18-22ppg/5rbs/3assts. But can he get those # with this current Grizz team that is playing well as a team.
just read a rumor on yahoo/nba about a Iggy trade RGay
I think this would work for the Grizz as Iggy could replace Gay & Battier
So 2 1st rnd picks/Iggy for RGay
Now Mayo has played well since the midseason problems. his trade value could be high, but i would keep him.
Battier should get offers from teams wanting to fill a defensive minded wing position.
so here's the grizz next year
with 76ers pick they could draft for depth. This current team have to make the playoffs next year to keep fans interested & i think this move will help them stay relevant in the West.
Gay is not leaving, I'm 100% sure they plan on keeping him. Even though they have been playing good without, they are better with him.
no one leaves - the grizz make 1 or 2 additions in the offseason and go on their merry way :)
Gay isn't going anywhere. I don't think anybody is going to get moved. The only weakness I see with this team is their perimeter scoring and some slashing. Rudy Gay brings just that. Zach Randolph is having trouble with OKCs bigs. He's getting double teamed play after play because they aren't afraid to let guys like Allen, Vasquez, Young, and Conley shoot the 3 ball. They only have two guys that can consistently knock it down with Mayo and Battier, throw in another with Gay and that team could be even more lethal.
Stop with the trading Rudy talk..Heisley addressed that in a meeting of season ticket holders last week and said they're playing great without Rudy, but they'll be even more dynamic with him....
I still think they need to get more perimeter shooters and a defensive minded athletic 7 footer that can rebound and block shots....OKC's length has bothered them at certain times this series..
They do have too many wings,so someone has to go..The organization loves Battier, but can they afford to keep him? Henry will be back..I think he has the chance to be a star....
I think he can stay with the Grizz and keep XHenry as a Defensive minded wing, i just hope Henry is not injury prone.
The consensus pick for this question will be Orange Juice Mayonnaise
Gay won't be moved, but he'll def. have to adjust his game offensively. He can't hold onto the ball like he used to and needs to start making the extra pass. He also needs to learn how to start moving better without the ball and cutting to the basket.
I still think Mayo will be moved.
Probably Mayo. Battier's veteran leadership,D, and knock down open 3 ball has really been one of the undervalued reason's for the turnaround. Allen and Battier have truely helped that team defensively on the perimeter.
Although the organization has said they wanted to keep their core I don't believe they were referring to Juice in the core, because they tried to ship him. I don't are what they say that showed he is no longer wanted.
The Grizzlies need to keep everybody, including Gasol, OJ, Shane, and Hamed. They might need to trade Xavier Henry though for cash and maybe a draft pick if that is the only way they can keep everybody.
At 49 they need to go with an athletic forward who can shoot. Easier said than done though.
I really like the Grizzlies if everyone comes back. I love OJ as a sixth man who can play 30 minutes a night off the bench. GV is a good backup point guard. OJ can handle the ball some and Ish Smith is a passable point guard with great speed. I think they are covered at point guard. They might need another shooter at the 2/3 but Gay, Shane, OJ, and Conley can all hit 3's and there might not be enough minutes to go around with Sam Young and Tony Allen also in the rotation. They have two good power forwards in Z Bo and Darrell Arthur (and Battier can play some minutes there). Gasol is great at the 5 and Hamed is a good, solid backup center who needs more minutes. The team could use another shot blocker though since Z Bo isn't a great shot blocker and Gasol isn't an above-the-rim guy. So I think they need a guy like Joel Anthony who can block some shots and get some rebounds who doesn't need to score to be effective and doesn't mind coming off the bench for just a few minutes a night.
I would be very thrilled with the Grizzlies off-season if they resigned everyone and turned Xavier Henry into a reserve shot-blocker and a spot-up three point specialist like Jon Diebler.
Now this board has us taking Jamie Skeen. That would be a great fit. He would give us an outside shooter who can also play inside. That would be a perfect pick. I think he might go higher though.
I agree I would ship Henry
