Everything about Hassan Whiteside reminds me of Andrew Bynum. From his giant monster frame and wingspan to his developing post game all the way to his immaturity. Someone has probably said it before but this guy is almost a mirror image of Andrew Bynum. They both have the same body language on the court, both can commit some  dirty fouls because of their immaturity. I just thought it was kind of crazy how much he resembles Bynun, his immense talent is undeniable btw.

Trust me if anyone can curb Whiteside its Pat Riley.. The dude may be old but he still cracks the whip on stuff like this.

i think whiteside rebounds & block shots at a higher rate than bynum…bynum might have had the edge in the post…

I agree, Bynum was a lot more skilled with his back towards the basket.. But was completely uninterested in playing anything that looked like defense

Bynum actually blocked a lot of shots by default just cause his length was ridiculous lol

The difference? Bynum never seemed to really like or care about basketball.  Whiteside, it seems, is passionate about it and just a knucklehead.

The might have similar size but other than that I don’t see the similarities. Bynum had some games where he blocked several shots, but he wasn’t a willing defender. Also, his post game was pretty good. Whiteside is a very very good leaper, which allows him to deflect more shots… and he’s not particularly refined in the post.

When Bynum last played for L.A. he was 24 y/o & was listed at 7’0” 285 lbs… Whiteside was listed at 7’0” 235 Lbs when he entered the League but last year, Miami listed him at 7’0” 265 Lbs…

But I agree w/ some of the other posters in that Whiteside is more of an athletic, explosive leaper who Wants to play defense… Whereas Bynum was more of a guy w/ Giant body mass, who could really score & rebound b/c of his size & he would block a few shots per game on "help" defense… But b/c of his chronically bad knees, he never seemed very interested in team defense or consistent rim protection…
