Which of these "Raw" and "Upside" big men would make the best pro ???
This year's draft has alot of long, lean, athletic, raw, PF/Cs. Which of these guys do you think will make the best pro ? (Im not including Favors because I just want to know more about the "unheralded" prospects)
i think ed davis because he played under a great coach and he is a pretty good scorer.
Good question...I've loved Whiteside since he recorded that first triple-double. A crazy athletic 7-footer who blocks 5 shots a game, you know he's really in the zone and wants it. If he hooks up with a team that knows how to bring him along he could be special, and finally be the person to ensure Dwight doesn't lead the league in blocks for the next 15 years. Watching that Jazz-Lakers series makes you realize how important being 6-11/7-0 really is, and Whiteside really knows how to wield his frame and change the game on the defensive end.
Ed Davis. I think he's the best choice. He may not be a superstar or perenial All-Star, but we know he'll be a solid pro. He has great length, an excellent motor, runs the floor and rebounds well at both ends. He's also a very good shot blocker. I think he'll be a good pro for a long time.
He should be the first taken out of that list of bigs.
Yea good point on Whiteside. 7 footer with his agility will be highly sought after. But Ive heard he has some character issues, not sure if its true? He was bench the last game of the season by his coach because they had some conflict or some sort. Not sure what thats about, but ive been reading he might slip outside of the lottery.
The guy that Im really interested in learning more about is Larry Sanders. VCU games is never really shown on Television, so I never got to see him play, but 6'10 with 7'7 wingspan is insane.
This guy seems like the steal...Even if he's a young Camby...that would be sick to develope on young team
Why isn't favors on this list? I have nothing against him but he is raw as well. I agree with the whiteside though. He could become a force in the middle defensively. Maybe he'll be everything the grizzlies hoped thabeet would be.
The reason why I didn't include Favors in this discussion is because he is a "high profile" prospect, and most of us have an idea of how he will translate to the NBA. The others on the list however are somewhat mystery. A guys like Whiteside and Alabi for example is tough to evaluate on how he will translate to the pros, despite his huge upside.
