Where would this team finish in the Olympics?
Obivously they would not win a gold medal, in fact, they probably wouldn't even medal, but how would they fare?
They'd get outmuscled by men who are in their late 20s and early 30s, but their athleticism would still be the best in the Olympics. They wouldn't really have a PG other than Kasey Hill, because the current freshman class entering college right now doesn't really have a great PG prospect.
Would they still win some games though? Against some of the lousier teams?
I mean the 2012 Olympics btw, if this team was representing the U.S. right now, not 2016 or 2020.
international teams. They would finish last.
Imagine that team trying to stop Spain. In 3-5 years that team could indeed be scary. Right now they're high schoolers.
You're kidding me, right? They'd be in the bottom 4 for sure. Maybe 20 years ago they could've competed for a top 5 finish, but not in today's game.
I bet they could take Tunisia, Nigeria, China, and Great Britain.
Wiggins is from Canada why would he be on our team?
^Tunisa and probably Nigeria and Great Britan, but not China, Yi plays like a superstar when he plays for China, the high school guys wouldn't have the patience to guard him, although their athleticism would be off the charts.
They would get 4th or 5th in the division, Tunisia would be an easy win Nigeria would be a good game. Don't think they beat France or Argentina.
They would get smashed...Half of these players played in Portland a few months back and got smashed by the U19 international team. They would be playing against grown men who play pro bro proffesionally for years....
I just had to point out that their athleticism wouldn't be the best in the Olympics, USA would clearly be the most athletic team, and France is also filled with outstanding athletes.
Wiggins is Canadian, so replace him with a PG.
It's really talented groups. I think Spain and Argentina would be beat them, but they would probably beat any other team.
1 you put a team made of teenagers to play against guys like Ginobili,Gasol brothers etc.
2 Wiggins is Canadian sto you replace him with somebody elese
3 i notice that you dont have a Pg in starting lineup even if you put wiggins in usa.
3. Maybe in olypic 2020 you will have some of these guys on US roster and ofc that team would be 1.
im sorry, but i highly doubt this team wins 1 game. its not like any of these guys are the next lebron or kobe or MJ. they might be NBA all stars in the future but thats as far as i see it going, but the key would is future. right now theyd get man handled by every team, especially since these teams have been together for a long time.
out of those guys you listed, i say... 5 of them are future all stars. the rest are starters or role players. really thats as far as it goes...
theyd get smashed every game they played as already mentioned when half these guys played the u19 international team they got their azzzes handed too them smh
Honestly, they would be dead last. They have tons of talent but they are just teenagers, they might be superior athletes, but experience wise they are so far away compared to others, strenght would be a major problem too. Just be realistic even if you are hell of a talent the diffirence between this teams and olympic teams understandin of basketball is very very wide. Tunisia is the weakest team, but even they would beat them probably 7/10 times. We saw how Nigeria dominated Tunisia in the first half and they still managed to come back and were close to win, and Nigeria with it's great athletism is a really good team.
The main difference is not physicality but experience and understanding.
for example. wasnt brandon jennings very highly touted out of HS, and he went to Europe to play w/ the big boys. what happened. he did SQUAT! now look at him, experience, and maturity is key!
if this team played australia, Patty Mills would score 35 points with 12 assists.
No one on that team is over 225 lbs. It would get ugly down low.
Luol Deng and other average to outstanding European basketball players compete for GB. The Tunisians, while not particularly talented, are grown men that have been playing five to fifteen years longer than any high schooler.
They wouldn't win a single game in the Italian League, let alone the Olympics. MAYBE after a year playing together against men--and getting the snot beat out of them--they would be semi-competitive the year after.
Yeah, gotta go with finish last. Maybe pull out one game somehow...I like the topic though, interesting to think about. Brought some creativity in here.
Wiggins is actually a US citizen since his father is American, he could play for Team USA if he felt like it.
