Moncrief might be 1 of the most underrated and least talked about players in history..The thing that hurts him he only did it for about 5 years..But during those few years coaches and players respected him...Players voted him the league best player in 1986,thats when guys like Magic, Jordan, Bird and Hakeem were in their prime...
Terry C_mmings was another underrated guy..Maybe 1 of the best post players ever,good rebounder and he had a nice touch from the perimter..That dude was so skilled..

talk about respect...Jordan really respected him because I think he was one of the best defenders Jordan ever played against...for those who dont remember Moncrief, defensively... he was like the guard version of what Ben Wallace was in recent times....5x All Defense including 2x Defensive POY. The difference was, Moncrief could score. You would be hard pressed to find as good an all-around offensive/defensive presence as he was.
When Len Bias died I was 15 years old ( I'm the big 40 now) so I would have been doing exams in school. It was a few days before the hand of God football match between England and Argentina so I can remember that time quite well.
I was at work when someone told me about 9-11 so we put the TV and radio on and watched all the horror unfold.
I heard about Magic's first retirement on UK breakfast TV news, the big story was him being HIV positive.
As I'm UK based I only heard of Hank Gathers in more recent years when I got back into basketball about a decade ago and the Ralph Sampson game I'd have been about 12 years old then.
