WHERE WERE YOU WHEN....
...you learned that Len Bias had died? my friend rode by on his bicycle while I was helping my mom outside...when he told me I kept telling him he was lying. didnt believe it til I saw it on the news.
...Magic announced his first retirement? at my girlfriend's house, she was older than me and this is around the time I was becoming really "experienced" if u get my drift...it was a shocker and big news to people who were not even fans of b-ball
Hank Gathers died- High school, another shocker, I loved LMU's run and gun game and enjoyed watching Hank and Bo
Chaminade upset #1 Virginia and Ralph Sampson- Junior high, talk about upset...just couldnt figure out how that happened.
...the Twin Towers collapsed? at work, thought it was a an accident when the first plane hit, then when they said a 2nd one hit...I was like OMG...WTF???
feel free to add your own.
you saw chaminade upset virginia, you are in your mid or late 30's?
another old schooler,i like dat...
u remember otis birdsong or sidney moncrief?
I am 40! I saw some of Birdsong, loved him...I saw more of Moncrief and thing he should be in the HOF. Milwaukee was a great team to watch back then, Moncrief, Pierce, &$#%#&@!s....etc. Actually, I remember &$#%#&@!s and Aguirre at Depaul.
forgot about the filter, lol...thats Terry C**mings for those who dont know.
Moncrief might be 1 of the most underrated and least talked about players in history..The thing that hurts him he only did it for about 5 years..But during those few years coaches and players respected him...Players voted him the league best player in 1986,thats when guys like Magic, Jordan, Bird and Hakeem were in their prime...
Terry C_mmings was another underrated guy..Maybe 1 of the best post players ever, good rebounder and he had a nice touch from the perimter..That dude was so skilled..

Dude sick! Way to have a girlfriend 20 years ago
...you learned that Len Bias had died? UNBORN
...Magic announced his first retirement? 3 1/2 months old...probably sucking on a nipple at a nearby park
Hank Gathers died- UNBORN
Chaminade upset #1 Virginia and Ralph Sampson- UNBORN
...the Twin Towers collapsed? at my house trying to figure out why my mom was crying...i wish i was older than 10 at the time because i didn't appreciate the severity of the situation
"Dude sick! Way to have a girlfriend 20 years ago"
talk about respect...Jordan really respected him because I think he was one of the best defenders Jordan ever played against...for those who dont remember Moncrief, defensively... he was like the guard version of what Ben Wallace was in recent times....5x All Defense including 2x Defensive POY. The difference was, Moncrief could score. You would be hard pressed to find as good an all-around offensive/defensive presence as he was.
When Len Bias died I was 15 years old ( I'm the big 40 now) so I would have been doing exams in school. It was a few days before the hand of God football match between England and Argentina so I can remember that time quite well.
I was at work when someone told me about 9-11 so we put the TV and radio on and watched all the horror unfold.
I heard about Magic's first retirement on UK breakfast TV news, the big story was him being HIV positive.
As I'm UK based I only heard of Hank Gathers in more recent years when I got back into basketball about a decade ago and the Ralph Sampson game I'd have been about 12 years old then.
I somehow stubbled into the senior citizen center, excuse me as I find my way out...

I was back in nam for all of them.
Really only one I remember was Twin Towers. I was in gifted class circa 7th grade.

...Magic announced his first retirement? wasnt born yet lmaoo sorry
Hank Gathers died- not born
Chaminade upset #1 Virginia and Ralph Sampson- wasnt even a fetus.... not close
