When is young to young?

Let me just say first, i know in todays society everybody's very impatient. People today like to see the next BIG thing the new flavor of the month the latest technology. Recently I came across an article on UNC commit James McAdoo graduating high school early and suiting up for the Heels next college basketball season. I feel that yes, Roy Williams needs to fill a need since the Wear twins left, but isn't this pushing? Can't these kids enjoy there high school years instead of just rushing everything? I know this was James McAdoo's decision to pursue it, but quite frankly I don't want to see a raw high schooler playing in college it's a complete mockery to the college game! I also know others have done it, but they don't have the same magnitude as James does seeing he is one of the top players in his class. As a result I rather see the NBA develop a minor league system stick all these naive kids there, expand the NBA draft and let them have there ups and downs there instead of on national T.V. I wish I leaved in the 60s and 70s so I could truly witness players who where finished products playing at the professional ranks. Sports today has no substance like it did in the past. Back then you would see once in awhile a prodigy, truly a remarkable talent take over the sport, but it was rare. Now it seems we are overusing the words prodigy and phenom. Seems today everyones the next great thing. Note James hasn't decided on his intentions to do so, he'll decided in July.

well, if he plays 2-3 years

well, if he plays 2-3 years in college it wouldn't be too bad for his progress, maybe even good, a 19 year old junior is always interesting. If he decides to leave after his freshman season, he'll be acting crazy
The jumping early from high school is crazy though, if this continues to happen, the NBA should make a rule, that only college sophomores-juniors can enter the draft. That will probably solve the problem

mcadoo

cant leave after his freshman year. he has to wait a year after his class graduates. so he has to play two years for unc if he leaves early. i had a kid in my school graduate in three years and not for sports happens all the time

oh, thanks Leppy, I didn't

oh, thanks Leppy, I didn't know that. Then I think, if he's mentally ready for college, it shouldn't do him much harm. Even though he seems to be younger than many kids in even his class.

anytime a kid thinks money

anytime a kid thinks money first, instead of staying in school its a bad thing. dont get me wrong there are benefits to being a year younger.(scouts will think you have more upside)whats going to happen if this kid has a great season at UNC? hes going to leave for the NBA. and how is this bad? well its bad enough that kids either go to europe instead of collage or skip theyr senior year to play in europe. did you'll know that the average for a nba player to go bankrupt after he retires is 3 years. what are these kids going to do when they run out of money and cant get back into the league?. you need to atleast finish high school, then go to that one year of collage who knows you might like it.i know some kids need the money, but what are they gonna do when no one will sign them and they cant afford the lifestyle they have become accustomed to?

A kid that is smart enough to

A kid that is smart enough to graduate High School early but is too dumb to know anything else. That is odd.

I like it

Andre Dawkins did it last year at Duke and it's a good idea, they further their education while improving their basketball skills, they learn more fundamentals going to college early instead of staying in high school and dunking everytime they touch the ball on kids half their size, more kids should explore this option

yea

joe dirt is an idiot. mcadoo has to stay for two years at unc unless he goes overseas. Just because you graduate early does not mean you can leave after one year. I'm confused with players who fail grades. do they get to go out of high school? I'm not positive. if you blow a million dollars in your lifetime and dont have a penny to show for it i dont feel sorry for you at all...

m not saying the kid is an

m not saying the kid is an idiot, what im saying is what is he going to do when he cant play? im not reffering to him either im talking about guys who want to make a quick buck and risk theyr futures hoping they can make it in the nba. cmon you guys talk as if this is a great thing. wheres gerald green, quintell woods, and so on. im talking about these guys getting exploited they give theyr best years to these nba teams and when theyr tagged as "he is what he is" theyr out of the league and dont know what to do with theyr lives.i believe the question was how young is too young, and im just giving my opinion. playing basketball isnt the most important thing this kid should be worried about but you guys act like it is.

look at baseball this kid

look at baseball this kid bryce harper is going to be the number one pick this year but he got his ged and went to collage to be able to get drafted. if a kid is smart enough to graduate at 16, good for him there's nothing wrong with it but . but cmon dont you'll think theres going to be some situations where its going to be tough for him(im talking about mcadoo)hes 16 and hes going to be playing with men. this can either make him extremely mature as a person and basketball player or it can crush his developement. hes still a kid theres no hurry for him to grow up yet.

you get one nba contract

you make more than most americans do in a lifetime. if you blow all that money you shouldnt feel bad. get a dead end job like a lot of people out there get stuck with. a million dollars should last a lifetime.. what if one of these players gets hurt and cant play again. missed out on a good paycheck

doesn't even compare

gerald green and quintell woods can't even be put into the same category as McAdoo, because they went straight to the league! he's leaving High School early for college, how is he chasing a quick dollar!!! last time i checked college basketball was a Amateur sport in which you don't get paid!
