What's the outlook on Derozan?
This is suppose to be the season he should competing to be one of the best SG in the game, especially coming off a promising sophomore season. He hasn't really been shooting well... and his stats are all down across the board. What do you guys think his career will be like moving forward? thanks
He lacks ball handling skills to create for himself so it firces him to take bad shots i see him as a avg sg til he can improve on that. Bargs is back and he still struggling so im guessing he is lacking confidence.
I'm very, very disappointed in him. His shot selection is so poor, and if at the beginning of the game he doesn't get the calls from the refs, he gets frustrated and starts shooting jumpers for the rest of the game. He just doesn't have the basketball IQ to be a great player yet.
He needs 2 play SF, He's not a SG, He can't shoot, pass, rebound, play D or exc., all he do is dunk and take bad shoots
Churchboy since your here how about your take on bargs got ohcanadas opinion wondering about your?
I was never of fan of him, but Dwayne Casey has brought the best out of him. He actuallys rotates on defense and shows effort. His shot selection is much improved as well, as he just doesn't stand at the 3 point line waiting to receive the ball. I think he definitely has a chance to be an allstar next season, as he has really become a match up problem. It is very difficult for other power forwards to guard him. The Raptors need to add one more piece to this team to help him on offense though.
I don't know if you noticed but whenever Bargnani plays (good game or bad game) the big men in the game, 99% of the time, do well! For example, Bargnani dropped 36 and 6 today and Gortat had 17 and 12. Luckily the Raptors still won.
With Valanciunas coming over next season, hopefully he can take that defensive load off Bargnani and let Bargnani play the way he is playing this season.
I agree with what has already been said. Until Derozan proves to defenders that he can beat them off the dribble and that he can be a dangerous shooter he will be the average SG which settles for poor jumpshots and shoots a miserable percentage from the field.... I dunno if anyone can tell but I was really high on him coming into the year... Very disappointed. On the bright side he has time to turn it around... I'm not optimistic though..
Torontoraptors10 i dont watch all the games so i cant deny that i do know that without bargs raps havent won a game yet plus alridge had 33 and 23 when bargs wasnt playin so i guess its still an upgrade haha
I've been a raptors fan my whole life and ive been absolutely dying for us to have an elite perimeter player since vince carter was given away. Seeing how he progressed throughout his college year and then from year 1 to 2, I cannot lie, I was beyond giddy to see how he would play this year given the fact that he had an extra long offseason to work on his shooting and ball handling. He started the season alright and had one good game I believe when Bargnani was done but that's it. Most of these posts are pretty accurate, he looks like he lacks the IQ/skill to take advantaage of his athleticism. When he gets the ball he either passes it up right away or has a predetermined move that he does. I feel his shooting has improved as he has already set a career high in 3pt makes but his %s are suffering due to his inability to break defenders down off the dribble and create some seperation. Most of his shots are pretty well contested and a good amount are not blocked simply due to his hops.
The biggest thing that he needs to imrpove is his ball handling because that'll back defenders off of him and that will open up a lot for him. Not only will his jumper be easier to get off, he'll be able to get to the rim (more highlight reel dunks and free throws) but he'll be able to see the floor better and hopefully create for others a bit. He is a hard working kid from what i've seen so I can definitely see him still coming around. If he can string a few good games together to raise his confidence, he should be able to bring it back to his last years numbers.
As for Bargnani, people who havent watched him recently really need to watch a game or two. His game has improved DRASTICALLY. He is showing a complete repitoire on offense and effort on defense. I think switching him PF permanently has done wonders for him and if it wasn't for the calf injury, he couldve been a borderline all star. He is really showing life, coming on strong, kind of like aldridge did last year when roy was out (not to his level yet tho but getting there).
Never liked his jumpshot, and he had limited handle too. He can't be a slasher with weak handle. If he had Toney Allen Handle Derozan would be a beast, but he doesn't. He is a piece he is not a future star IMO. He is still young, but I am not impressed with his growth and consistency thus far.
