What You Think the 2009 Draft Prospects NBA Comparisons Should Be

I've created a list of what each player in the 1st round mock draft's comparisons should be.

Blake Griffin-Amare Stoudimire/Shawn Kemp
Ricky Rubio-Steve Nash/Pete Maravich
Hasheem Thabeet-Samuel Dalembert/Dikembe Mutombo
Jordan Hil-Jermaine O'neil(pre-injuries)/Antonio McDyess
James Harden-Paul Pierce/Brandon Roy
Brandon Jennings-Russell Westbrook/Allen Iverson
Demar Derozen-Vince Carter
Earl Clark-Lamar Odom
Gerald Henderson-N/A
Johnny Flynn-Devin Harris/Deron Williams
Wayne Ellington-Daquean Cook
Chase Budinger-Rudy Fernandez
James Johnson-Danny Granger/Ryan Gomes
Eric Maynor-Mike James
Ty Lawson-Raymond Felton
Stephen Curry-Mike Bibby/Eddie House
Tyreke Evans-Jamal Crawford/Baron Davis
Patrick Patterson-Jason Maxiell
Jeff Teague-Monta Ellis/Kevin Johnson
BJ Mullens/Amir Johnson
DeJuan Blair/Paul Millsap
Patrick Mills/N/A
Gani Lawal/N/A
Sam Young-James Posey
Terrence Williams-Andre Iguodala
Omri Casspi-N/A
Damion James-Leon Powe
Tyler Hansberough-Luis Scola/Udonis Haslem
DaJuan Summers-N/A
Jeff Pendergraph-N/A

I need help with the players that i have on the list that have "N/A" after their names. I dunno what exact players i should chose for the N/A players. For example, Earl Clark is nothing like Danny Granger. Danny Granger has a jump shot and Danny Granger isn't a facilitator like what Earl Clark is. Eark Clark is more of a "More Athletic Boris Diaw but you can't just say Boris Diaw in his commercial because Boris Diaw isn't athletic as what Earl Clark is. You get me. So I wanna know what you guys think NBA comparisons should be for the players with the N/A or even the players I have comparisons to.

DaJuan Summers has Tim

DaJuan Summers has Tim Thomas written all over him. I would be shocked if he is as good as Jeff Green. Green works his tail off and Summers does not

Lol, I would've compared him

Lol, I would've compared him to Chris Paul because he's flashy but he's way more athletic then Chris Paul. Deron's worked on his athleticism. Just ask Andrew Bynum. Chris Paul and Deron Willams are creative. Chris Paul is more creative but Chris Paul's athleticism is no where near Johnny Flynn's. Deron William's is. You get my comparison now?

Johnny Flynn is more

Johnny Flynn is more athletic than Chris Paul????

If that was even slightly true, Johnny Flynn would be the #2 pick in the draft guaranteed.

But he's not.

Jonny Flynn should not be mentioned in the same sentence as Paul or D-Will. Chris Paul is a ridiculous athlete, much more athletic than Flynn.

He is though. This is i want you to do then. Go on youtube. Find Chris Paul's best career dunk and find Johnny Flynn's best career dunk. I want you to post it on this thread. Then we'll decide who's more athletic. Shure Chris Paul dunked over Dwight Howard but Chris Paul can't slam slam like what Johnny Flynn can. Can Chris Paul windmill?? NO! Can Johnny Flynn?? Of course. I compared Johnny Flynn to Deron because even though Chris Paul's and Deron Williams are almost equal when it comes to playmaking, Deron Williams athleticism can be compared to Johnny Flynn's.

When will people on this

When will people on this board realize jumping is not the part of being athletic. Both Flynn and CP3 are really good athlete's and so is Dwill. I don't believe Flynn will be as good as either of them but I think he will be a solid pro. To much comparing ppl not everybody is like somebody else

Don't compare ppl because of the color of there skin. Anderson can't jump like Budinger and can't handle at all. Both can't defend and are from a pac-10 school so I guess they are some similarties. Anderson almost has a set shot

Every comparison on this

Every comparison on this site between a future NBA player and a current NBA player has the player coming into the draft being compared to quality players in the NBA. This is stupid because about 3/4 of every draft is just players who do nothing. Stop comparing everyone entering the draft to estalbished NBA players. Johnny Flynn will, most likely, never come close to Deron Williams level. Now, I like Johnny Flynn, but the odds sadly are against him. Lets stop overhyping practically everyone.

Did that make sense?

I don't like Nash for Rubio

When I watch Rubio play I see Nash without the shooting ability, which is an inferior player. While Rubio's point guard skills are ELITE, his lack of an outside shot is going to really hurt him in the NBA. Defenders are going to give him room, and thus make it far more difficult for him to penetrate. Also I'm not sure his defense will be on the same level as in Europe, the NBA athletes are going to make Rubio's game look a little slower.

I think Andre Miller (when he was coming out of Utah, not the slow version we see now) is a far better comp than Nash, Clyde, or Pistol Pete. All of those guys could be deadly shooting the ball as well as penetrating, and Rubio lacks that skill.

Also maybe Jason Williams (white chocolate).

Jonny Flynn

He is not a cross between Devin Harris, Chris Paul, Deron Williams, and Derrick Rose.
This is why we these NBA player comparisons don't mean anything. Flynn could end up like anybody from Acie Law to Jason Terry...but the probability that he will end up anything like those top 4 guys is about 1 out of 1,000,000.

i agree with WHY

i gotta piggyback off of what WHY said. hopefully you dont all hate me for this. i dont understand why everyone is comparing these draftees to NBA all stars. lets be realistic. do we really think Rubio is gonna be nash/maravich? a legend of the game and a 2-time MVP. seriously? even T. Williams to Iguodala. Iggy is the marquee player/go-to-guy on an NBA playoff team. T-Will is a senior projected to go late 1st. there's a reason for that. jordan hill to Jermaine O'neal. JO is a multiple all star who's been a 20-10 guy a few times. does hill really have that in him? jennings to iverson? iverson's scoring average is among the top 5 all-time. johnny flynn to d. will and d. harris? come on fellas! two of the top points in the league. both 6'3. lets go! james harden to The Truth and B. Roy? lofty expectations, dont you think? tyreke evans to t-mac! i wont even touch that one. that said, i really like the lists of jleung1 and alexboii. here's what i got. please call me out where necessary.

Griffin=Stoudemire/Boozer(size mostly)
Rubio=Calderon
Thabeet=Shawn Bradley (lol) i think, like Bradley, he's gonna get drafted too high, block some shots, & get dunked on a lot
Harden=Mitch Richmond/Ginobili
Hill=Brian Grant/Drew Gooden
Jennings=Kenny Anderson/Starbury
Derozan=Stackhouse
Lawson=Jameer Nelson
Evans= Rodney Stuckey
Clark=Odom/Marvin Williams
Blair=Danny Fortson/Sweetney
Ellington=Anthony Peeler
Henderson-Dahntay Jones/J. Rich
Curry= Steve Kerr/J. Pargo
T. Williams=Ronnie Brewer
Summers=Butler/T. Thomas
Brackins=Charlie V
Maynor=Dooling
Flynn=Mo Williams
Teague=Ellis/Harris
Budinger=Brent Barry/Joe Alexander
Hansbrough=Madsen/Cardinal
J. Johnson=J. Green/Granger
Sam Young=Joey Graham

Williams has the same sort

Williams has the same sort of body, same court vision, same passing ability, same atheltic ability and same question mark over his shooting as LeBron did when he came into the league. The only difference is that LeBron came in as a high school kid and Williams as a senior (he is a young senior though). Other than that LeBron can create his own shot better than Williams but there are a lot of similarites.

Hansborough and Artest are both blue collar, lunch pale type players who use their physicality to impose their will on a game. They aren't flashy and they aren't refined but they are both effective at what they do and they know thier limitations.

My comparisons are realistic - unlike the idiot's who started this thread who seems to think that every person in this draft is either a potential all star or he/she puts an N/A next to them because he/she has never heard of them or hasn't even seen them play.

Idiot. Why waste peoples time?

I actually don't disagree

I actually don't disagree with your T-Will and LeBron comparison, it's just that Ron Artest and Hansborough play NOTHING alike. If I could start one of those two circle diagrams you would get my point better, but I can't, so i'll do it like this.....

Ron Artest- SG-SF.......Complete lock-down defender........Plays primarily on the perimeter........Has 3 point range......Doesn't always have his head in the game.

Tyler Hansborough- PF........Defensive liability on the next level........Bangs down low, but has no post moves other than throwing up some ugly hook shot.........Has range out to 16-18 feet.......Brings high energy to every game

What makes Artest different is that he has the physicality, but has a great skill set to go along with it. When you compare guys, they have to have comparable skills lol.

Yeah, Hansbrough and Artest

Yeah, Hansbrough and Artest are literally NOTHING alike. Super athletic head-case who's a lock-down perimiter defender vs. scrappy forward with high energy and a decent jump-shoot... yeah, those two guys are exactly alike....

I do like the Earl Clark - Lamar Odom comparison.

One comparison that I haven't much seen is Stephen Curry - Rip Hamilton (if you were to subtract 3-4 inches).

artest is not super athletic by any stretch, but the comparison is ridiculous nonetheless. the LBJ-T-Will is flat stupid. LBJ is 2-3 inches taller, 40 lbs heavier, better passer, better rebounder, better handle, better shooter, better finisher, faster, stronger, quicker, more athletic, better shot blocker, etc, etc, etc...and while admittedly Williams is pretty good in all those aspects, he falls way short of The King in all of them. if you cant come up with a better comparison than that, you aren't trying.
