I’ll be the first to admit I’m a Pistons fan and its a bit of a fantasy of mine to see Chandler Parsons wearing a Pistons jersey next year. That being said I thought of a trade scenario that would allow us a shot at him. I know there’s alot of "if’s" involved but thought it’d be fun to discuss the possibly.

Basically… The Pistons get Chandler Parsons via sign and trade. The Pelicans get Greg Monroe via sign and trade. The Rockets get Ryan Anderson and the Pistons 2015 first round draft pick.

Why the Pelicans do it- They get a 15 point 9 rebound per game Center to pair next to Anthony Davis. Also Greg Monroe is from New Orleans so they get a hometown hero.

Why the Rockets do it- They get stretch 4 Ryan Anderson to pair back with Dwight Howard and make room for Carmelo Anthony at the 3. They also get a future first rounder in the process.

Why the Pistons do it- For us I think the Pistons need to surrender to the idea of Smith at the 4. He’s a better perimeter defender than Monroe and (though he’s not as good as he thinks) has more range offensively than Monroe. With Parsons to spread the floor and Monroe gone he should have more room to operate in the paint. Jennings, Pope, Parsons, Smith and Drummond could make for a nasty fast break team and should even be better defensively.

    Welp there it is. Thoughts…

My only thought is that the trade should remove Ryan Anderson and the Pelicans and replace it with the Knicks. Basically:

    NYK- Asik, Jennings, Monroe

    DET- Parsons, Lin

    HOU- Melo, Singler/ or Shumpert

(maybe a few picks being exchanged)

NYK will then be able to trade Tyson Chandler to the Mavs for whatever. This seems to be the best available trade for NYK.

     A couple of things,

NO gets the biggest upgrade. I think they’ll need to surrender a pick as well.

And just being an ass, this doesn’t open up cap space for Mello if that’s what you mean by "making room". Maybe Houston can then ship Asik and/or Lin plus Detroit & NO picks to NY in a sign an trade.

Yeah you’re right! I meant more like Houston would be rolling out the red carpet for Melo. Lin and Asik have very reasonable contracts and even if you don’t think so they expire after 1 year anyway. I doubt either contract would be hard to move.

Detroit cant trade their 2015 1st round pick because they already gave up their 2014 pick to Charlotte. Gotta have your own 1st in one of two consecutive years according to league rules.

Alright didn’t know that. Guess it’d have to be the 2016 pick.
