What will the LA Clippers do?

I've been going over the draft for months now and have been taking a much deeper look at it lately since the lottery determined the order. Despite this I still struggle to project who the clippers will take. They have a glaring need at small forward, however I think that Wes Johnson and Al Farouq Aminu will be gone by the 8th pick. They could take one of the next group of small forwards - Luke Babbit, Paul George, or Gordon Hayward. But I just can't help but think that that would be quite a reach for any one of those guys at 8. So then what do they do? Do they go for front court depth and take a guy like Ed Davis or Epke Udoh? I don't know if they'd do this since they just took Griffin last year. I think because of all these questions I don't think that by draft day the Clippers will be making the number 8 selection. Maybe they move up, maybe they move down but regardless, I feel like the Clippers are in a tough spot at number 8 and will be looking to make a deal to get out of that spot. Very tough to project. What does everybody think?

Argee

If Johnson and Aminu are off te board i see the Clippers trading down to the 12-16 range and taking best SF that is available. With that trade they could also find a second round pick or maybe an inexpensive backup to Baron Davis. If they take someone other then Aminu or Johnson that high it would be a reach for sure.

they need to get paul george....somebody explosive on tha wing thats gonna give the size at tha 2 n the 3 spot....luke babbit would also b nice but i dont c him as a starter in tha league tho he might have a problem slidin his feet wit nba wings also....n if aminu is still around u gotta go with him even tho he might b less ready then tha other to he has alot more potential down tha road...

Someone that either the Clips

Someone that either the Clips want or some other team really wants will fall to them. They have a good back up at PT in Steve Blake. The have depth behind Kaman in an ever improving D Jordan. You put Blake and C Smith at PF. E Gordan is the 2 and that leaves you with the 3. I think Butler shoots way to much for this team and can't play a lick of D.

So if they could get Aminu or Johnson then they are set. If not I would trade down for a Hayward. Hayward can create his own shot, shoot from deep, rebound and pass. He's a more unselfish Mike Dunleavy. Now his "D" isn't the best

Both Craig Smith and Drew

Both Craig Smith and Drew Gooden are free-agents. It's not known whether or not they'll return. Both players may be able to fetch more $ than what Donald Sterling will be willing to pay them. We all know how Sterling is when it comes to keeping free-agents.

For that reason... I think the Clippers will also consider a big man. DeAndre Jordan is improving, but he hasn't shown he can be consistent yet. Blake Griffin is coming off of a knee injury. There's a hole at small forward, but a big makes sense too.

Babbitt or George for sure

The Clippers will take Babbitt or George who are true 6-9 SFs, can play some SG, and are excellent outside shooters.

They'll pass on Aminu who I think will slide. Too much like Hakim Warrick.
