What Perimeter player makes sense for Utah?
Its obvious when i watch the utah jazz play this season that they have a extremely difficult time scoring from the perimeter. Besides Deron Williams nobody else seems to be a consistent threat from out there. CJ Miles is wildly inconsistent, idk where raja bell has been this season, and kirilenko is......watever. I just read an article on nba.com about te jazz and they think rip hamilton to utah is something the jazz should go for. Im wondering who u guys think would be a good realistic fit with the jazz. personally id love to see oj mayo get out to utah but i just dont know how they could make that happen.
Gordon Hayward as he continues to gain confidence in his game and his outside shot. I know he's a forward, but he can be a perimeter threat.
Rip Hamilton maybe??
A healthy Michael Redd type of player would fit in nicely, but not sure where he is with his injury.
hakeem olajuwon nigga
Gordon Hayward cannot be counted on to pick up the shooting load even with his newfound confidence. He shot 29.4% from range at Butler last year, is 7-20 from beyond the arc this year, and is more of a slasher (especially at this point) anyways. Rip definitely makes a lot of sense but I don't know if he's worth AK's huge contract, because he's really on the decline. Maybe going to Utah would reinvigorate him.
The Bobcats are looking to deal Wallace and Jackson as they're going nowhere and play in a small market. I think despite his age, Jackson (18.4 points, 2 threes/gm) makes the most sense because he's an absolutely DEADLY shooter who can play the AK point-forward role. Playing under sloan would keep his insanity in check, and he's proven anyways to be a good team player on very good teams (like the Spurs). I think they should try to swing a deal for Jackson.
Hayward shot 40% from three the year before last. His three-point percentage went down because he became the focal point of the offense, thus drawing much more defensive attention. I don't think he's the wing Utah is looking for, but he could become an outside shooting specialist.
But i think the three that make sense are j-rich, but he is impossible to wrestle him away from the magic.
Iggy would be sick next to d will but the jazz wouldnt give up that much for him..
I think rip could be attainable and with the recent play of millsap and big al and the two bench bigs in fesenko and ellis, kinda makes okur expendable... in my eyes. It is a 2 year deal worth 9.945 mil. If the jazz the jazz traded him and got rip back they would either need cash from the pistons or just trade price or watson. But it could be done. And this would make the jazz with less flexiblity then ever. But also it would give them a line up of..
An ok improvement but idk if i like it.
The Suns are pretty much out of contention or playoff picture. Perhaps they would be willing to part ways with Jared Dudley for couple of draftpicks. Hes an excellent spot up 3 point shooter and has shown up in big games during playoffs. The Suns have a backload of SG/SF (Hill, Carter, Pietrus, Childress), I think Dudley fits exactly what the Jazz needs.
I think O.J. Mayo needs a change of scenario and I think he could play next to Dwill and company and be a 3rd option type of guy. He has a smooth jumper but can also create for himself which not many perimeter players on the jazz can do. I wonder what the Grizz would want for him though? Would they look for picks or young talent ot try to clear some cap space when Randolph and Gasol become FA's?
mickael pietrus ? suns have to many wing players, he can be a lock down defender and hit the 3 ball ? with Ak and pietrus they could shut down the wings
It seems that with all these shooters being talked about it this forum, nobody is throwing aroud AK's name in trades. The Jazz CANNOT go deep in the playoffs w/o Okur: he's a very skilled, experienced big man and the jazz are in dire need of size, they're 28th in rebounding and playing the injury-prone Jefferson too many minutes. Okur is also one of their best shooters, lol. It's AK who has the massive contract and isn't a reliable shooter, he's the one that's gotta go to add a shooter, so stop including him in the lineup with these potential additions.
while Okur is handy for them, i think he's the one that should be traded. AK's defense is being really handy for them, he's on an expiring deal and could probably pick him up next season for a lot cheaper. Jefferson and Millsap should be getting the bulk of the minutes. Okur hasn't excactly been healthy this season either. If AK gets traded it means they'll have to go for someone like Iggy or Wallace for example and that means they have to trade more away, whereas Hamilton or the older Jackson you woudn't need to trade as much.
The bobcats are in need of cap relief and have Wallace anyway. If they traded Jackson and then buy out AK so he can resign in Utah for the vet minimum this year and resigned for the mid level next year. This way the cats don't upset Wallace and Ty Thomas by playing AK the rest of the season. Think of AK like big z for the cavs. He may be a jazz after he's traded mid season through some strange circumstance. The sixers would love to move Andre iguadola in a trade like that. They simply buyout AK after trading iggy allowing the jazz to pick up the Russian machine gun. The sixers would want a draft pick in the first round of this draft so my question is do the jazz own any.
AK and Milsap for Granger and ??? Indiana has a surplus at the 2-3 positions, and needs PF help. I know Bird will be reluctant to trade Granger, but it may be best for them to unload his contract for a need at a valuable position.
So they trade for Granger, but become weak in other area by trading Milsap? That's too drastic of a move. Right now their strengths lies inside with Milsap and Jefferson, so you just have to work with that and find a way to improve while maintaining your core of the team.
middletonvb the only way the stones would trade rip to the jazz would be for either millsap or ak47's expiring plus a pick or something...
A guy that may be a cheap and experienced player to trade for is Courtney Lee. He can be a younger Raja Bell for a very nice price.
