What is Marshon Brooks?

Brooks scored 52 yesterday v Notre Dame. He's averaging 25.4 PPG for the Providence Friars. Providence is 14-14, 3-12 in the BE, with losses to DePaul, LaSalle and South Florida, yet wins over Villanova and Louisville. They've lost 5 straight games.

This thread is different than the other threads on Brooks. For sure he deserves praise for what he's done scoring this season. With that said, Providence is one of the worst defensive teams in college and isn't winning. So, with that said, what is Marshon Brooks? Is he just a great college scorer on a mediocre team, who doesn't do anything else to help his team, and has little NBA value? Or is he a great talent stuck in a bad situation? What do you all feel about his NBA prospects? Discuss.

If Dominique Jones as an undersized and average athlete sg can tear up the Big East on a bad team, than Marshon Brooks could get drafted in the first round, though I think he will go in the second round. He reminds me of Jordan Crawford

Marshon Brooks is a guy who

Marshon Brooks is a guy who played HS ball not to far from where I grew up (Tucker High School in Georgia, one of the better HS programs in the nation). I love his production. With that said, Brooks reminds me alot of Manny Harris.

Brooks is putting up those numbers on a very bad team, dominating the ball much more than he'll ever be able to past college, and he's not all that quick or athletic (even though he does have solid quickness). He seems like a scorer who has to have the ball to be effective, even if he's not the type of talent who should warrant having the ball as much as he does. He could latch on to a bad team, like Harris has in Cleveland, but he's a marginal prospect IMO despite his numbers.

@Jnixon

Took the words out of my mouth. Harris is the comparison I used as well, but Nick Young works too. Young was horrible when he wasnt featured on the Wizards, but now looks good since the offense goes through him. The thing is, neither is anywhere close enough to be featured on a good team. If they are featured scorers, their teams will suck. It will be a big adjustment for him to become a role player that helps a good team win.

@Quincey

They may have got 20 wins, but they didn't make the Big Dance...... Jones led them to some decent upsets against ranked Pitt and Gtown while Brooks has led his team to some nice ones against ranked Louiville and Villanova. USF last year was better than Providence of this season but it is all the same to me because both are in the NIT.

I agree Iggy how he is dominating the ball at this point much more than he ever will if he plays in the NBA and thats why I'm comparing him to Jordan Crawford. I'm not saying he should be a first round pick, I'm just saying a team might actually take a chance on him.
