We know how dominant Shaq was during his career, but he didn’t the best care of his body. If Shaq took better care of his body and had Kobe’s killer instinct, how dominant could he have been?

What if Shaq didnt get fouled everytime he touched the ball? He was so big hardly anyone could guard him without fouling him every play.

He pretty much was dominant.  Went from town to town winning championships in the same way LeBron has.  If he worked on his body like Wilt did then maybe his stats would have gone up but he was still a handful.

In his prime no one was more dominant. They’d have to grab with all their might and he still might make it.

It was crazy to watch Dwight Howard in a Laker uniform after that. If the breeze blew too hard, he fell apart, and missed.

If he had Kobe’s work ethic, it would not have been fair.

Kobe would have 3 less rings if Shaq wasn’t around to carry him through the finals.

    Kobe’s career is nice…he’s a helluva player…

But he has no shot early in his career if Shaq ain’t there.  Shaq was absolutely dominant in those first three finals…just look at his numbers.

Shaq was a killer on the court.  Look at Larry Bird, Iverson, Shaq…three guys with relatively short careers that were absolutely dominant for the short periods they were in the game.

They may not have hte longevity..but what they are able to do in 10 years…sheesh

The “Kobe needed Shaq” argument is so dumb and played out. They both needed each other. How did the Lakers do before Kobe became Kobe? Yeah I know Shaq was the most dominant player in the game those years, but Kobe took over in some of those big games too, including one against the Pacers when Shaq was out

Imagine if Shaq could hit foul shots. Now that would be unfair.

I’ve been watching basketball for nearly 40 years and have seen a lot of great bigs, and I honestly haven’t seen any that had the killer instinct of Jordan, Bryant, Iverson, etc. It’s a rare quality that few players possess, and for whatever reason, big men just approach the game differently, even the greats.

Most play with a laid back mentality, or can turn it on in stretches. My working theory has always been big guys first begin playing the game for other reasons and don’t start by having something to prove.

    Just a theory though.
