What the Grizz should do in the draft

First i Think they should package their top pick and Rudy Gay to get in a position to take Evan Turner. or they can take either xavier henry, james Anderson or Dontanas motiejuas. then they should take Elliot Williams because his from memphis and would give them another bench scorer. then they should take somebody like devin ebanks to give them depth at the SF position and someone who could become another rudy gay for us off the bench.

what makes you think they can

what makes you think they can trade gay? He is a free agent and can chose his own team.

and most the teams likely to

and most the teams likely to have high picks Sac, Wsh, NJ, Clipers, Min) can all just sign gay and keep their pick.

my mock

i got them going patrick patterson, paul george and willie warren.

patterson - productive college player; insurance policy if they cannot extend randolph's contract. at worst a backup strecth 4 with arthur (since arthur is always injured).
george - skilled 3; insurance policy if gay leaves.
warren - can score off the bench; was a lottery pick at this time last year.

If the Grizz will try to

If the Grizz will try to package a 1st round pick and Rudy Gay, it has to be for a PG. Unfortunately for them, this year's draft has one of the weakest PG class that I can remember. I can't see a team willing to trade John Wall for Rudy Gay and a 1st round pick.

The Grizzlies best bet is to perhaps try to resign Rudy Gay, try and trade OJ Mayo for a proven solid PG (maybe they can convince Hornets to trade Darren Collison for Mayo), or hope they get lucky with their 1st round pick and draft either Eric Bledsoe, or Armon Johnson. They have to acquire a PG via trade, theres no other option.

Mess

If I am the hornets I would jump on that trade and then would right back in the middle of the pack in the west.
C= Okafor
PF=West
SF= Peja/ or say they trade down and draft someone like Paul George.
SG= Mayo
PG=Paul
bench depth
Posey, Thornton, if dont draft George could take insurance big at pick 12 like Patterson, Aldrich, or Ed Davis if hes there.

they can't just sign him

they can't just sign him because he is restricted. However if memphis matches the offer they can't trade gay to the team that offered him the contract for a long time. I think it might be a season.

Sign and trade Rudy gay for m

Sign and trade Rudy gay for m beasley.
For the 12 pick draft x Henry and late first round pick Warren or Aver Bradley

interesting

many of you may be aware that heisly aims to match any offer (unless it's a max contract) rudy gay receives...because he is a restricted free agent. he is not a free agent yet. grizzlies can force a sign and trade if it came to a max contract.

and we don't have to trade for a pg....you know there are pg's in free agency. plus, trading mayo for collison? no disrespect to collison...but I wouldn't take that trade if you asked me today.

why would we trade rudy gay for beasely?

a lot of this is not making sense.

Stick to the plan, match rudy gay unless it's a max contract....go for bench help in the draft.

thank you ball12

I've been posting about drafting a backup for Zach for a while. d-Arthur is not a future starter.
