What are the raptors' options?

i have been thinking for days as i watch them lose all these close games what options they have for the rest of the season.

1. make a move by trade and change the team up a bit to remotivate the guys and attempt to go on a run as the schedule gets easier. ie. talks about pau gasol for bargs and calderon...or a trade dealing ed davis etc.

2. give up on the season now to develop JV and ross. this will prob cost BC his job so i doubt it will happen.

3. to keep this lineup and continue playing with the hope of getting more lucky as the season goes on.

keep in mind that they only keep their pick this year if they end up in the top 3. so option 3 will most likely end up in them losing their pick as they finish in that 10-12 range.

I wish I could give you more than one thumbs up for that

:). I would be hard pressed to think of many number one overall picks I hate worse than him.

Kwamee and Oden worse but beyond that?????

I was actually kind of

I was actually kind of excited for the raptors this season. They picked up Kyle Lowry, Bargnani would be back from his ankle injury in which he was lighting up before he got hurt, landry would be a nice addition at sf and with demar at sg and jonas in at centre it looked like the raptors actually had a decent lineup with a solid player at each position. I even talked myself into thinking about an 7 or 8th seed playoff run... Oh am I ever disappointed at how the season has gone so far, each of those close games lost is such a buzzkill I cant even explain it. I don't understand why this team is the second worst in the league when last year they had less pieces and still picked up a better record. Normally I would atleast have a draft pick to look forward too but this years is traded away. After trying to come up with some options I don't really think the raptors have anything good coming their way. If they trade for pau they wont be that much better as he is old and way past his peak. He could grant a few more wins but that would just make us mediocre again. If we keep this lineup we will just end up near the bottom without a pick.. ( I guess we can hope for the lottery?) My best guess is that BC will pull some more BS in we have to develop our young players (like that has worked for us the past 5 years or so) and let demar jonas terrence and ed be the future of the team. As a fan all I can really do is pray to the basketball gods that somehow, someway a fellow named Andrew Wiggins is dressing up in Raptors Red a couple seasons down the road.

Well since they lose their

Well since they lose their pick. I would do the gasol trade, and hope to develop their young players. it might teach them how to win some games.

I actually think they're

I actually think they're still a solid team, their record hasn't shown it, but they've been hit with injuries and have lost a lot of close games. It's still early in the year, and only 6 games back from the 8th spot in the East. It's not like the East is very deep, so it's possible they could make a run up the standings. Although I do think they need to explore moving Bargnani.

Losing a lot of close games

Losing a lot of close games is a big point; the problem with the Raptors is that there is no pecking order offensively; Lowry, DeRozan and Bargnani all want to be the first option, and Casey isn't enforcing any sort of structure, which is why you have them failing to execute in close games as each of these guys tries to isolate and win the game themselves.

My friend is a Raptors fan and he was telling me about a game this season where Bargnani was absolutely killing it offensively, he was shooting something like 75% from the field, and when they needed a game-winning bucket, Lowry took a contested long 2 (aka the worst shot in basketball) instead of giving him the ball. Lowry isn't a long-term answer, I still thought they gave up on Bayless too soon.

Trade Bargnani, calderon, and

Trade Bargnani, calderon, and let Lowry walk when his contract is up. We won't have a pick this season but the 2014 draft has a lot of talent which the raptors could use. Maybe try and receive another 1st round pick for that draft and rebuild through the draft. The direction the raps are headed right now is pure mediocrity at best. They are missing a franchise player/someone who can create plays and win games in the dying moments of games.
