University of Louisville guard Wayne Blackshear will miss his freshman season due to a shoulder injury suffered in practice.

Blackshear is facing surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. He is expected to be sidelined for four months.

One of the nation’s top recruits, the 6-5 Blackshear averaged 32.6 points and 14.6 rebounds in his senior year of high school.

Damn that's rough. He might benefit from a year on the sidelines learning the game at the next level though. Still, very disappointing.

It's a loss. Blackshear is a talent on the offensive end with NBA-type physical tools on the wing, but Louisville definitely has depth on the perimeter and they can still be dynamic because they have alot of experience and shooters despite the injury.

This means guys like

This means guys like Swopshire, Behannen, and C.Smith are going to have to pick up some slack in the scoring department. Siva and Dieng, their two best players, arent scorers and Kyle Kuric will get his 15 from the perimeter so I could see Behannen doing work down low.

It's really Mike Marra, and

It's really Mike Marra, and the 2 Smith's (Chris and Russ) that have to step up. And reports are Chris has been good in practices and was the frontrunner for a starting spot on the perimeter anyway.

Interesting..... I'm pretty

Interesting..... I'm pretty sure he was going to be ruled ineligible for at least half of the season anyways. A torn labrum though, is kind of an odd injury for a basketball player- as it is much more common in baseball and basketball. The only other example of a torn labrum in basketball I can think of was Jameer Nelson in 2009.
