festar35ParticipantThe play off the Indiana Pacers has inspired this thread for me as they look so bad defensively it is an embarrassment.
The Teague/Ellis back-court needs to go and bring CJ Miles into the starting line-up as they can’t seem to stop anyone. It may seem premature and desperate, I always hear Ellis won’t like coming off the bench, I say tough the guy to keep happy is PG winning is the way to do that. The promising play of Turner won’t be enough to retain him alone.
The other obvious thing is the Paul George is not the leader I hoped he would be, they need to find that guy like they had in D-West.Think Indiana can turn things around and how do you think they should go about it?

RUDEBOY_Participanttoo early to panic..hopefully adjustments will be made..i predict them to finish amongst the top 3 in east…but did look bad defensively against brooklyn…..they made lin look like an all star…teague looked lost.

Jr. ROXASParticipantI actually thought Teague was the perfect acquisition after the Mavericks game. He pushes the pace in a way George Hill never did, and puts pressure on the defense a lot to suck some of the workload from PG.
The problem is the combination of Ellis and Teague is a nightmare defensively. Also, on offense, there are to many mouths to feed if Ellis is there.
Give Teague time and he will do wonders for the Pacers offense. Ellis though really needs to play the 6th man role given they also have no depth whatsoever on their bench.

DolanCareParticipantI didn’t like the Teague acquistion for Indiana to be honest. The only thing he does better than George Hill is getting to the rim, which is a valuable skill. The problem is, with Ellis on the roster, they need a point guard who can complement Monta with defense, facilitation and shooting. I think Indiana would have been better off sticking with George Hill.

Hype MachineGeorge Hill is playing the best basketball of his career with the Jazz.
Hes been their best player so far. I thought he was just an OK aquisition…but hes been playing above his career average level for Utah.
He must be motivated.

markfitz14ParticipantTeague has gone 2-13 and 0-4 from the field in the first two games. Hasn’t hit one three yet in either game. That’s on him right there. I like the idea of Miles starting though. Then feed PG constantly. 20 attempts a game would be good.

HazelParticipantHill has done this
FG % 52.8
3p% 42
ft 88%
21ppg
3rpg
4.6 ast
1.4topg
Sometimes a team can get enamored with a little speed or athleticism, and it can cost them. That is the deal here. By most all measures Hill was the better more durable player. Jazz are going to win 10 more games with him this year than last. Both Atlanta and Indiana will be worse. (I do love Tuner though).

Andv1 WaitingParticipantNo offense is meant but in this is just my opinion…
Me personally I have never been a fan of Monta ellis. As there is a reason the teams he has been on get better once he leaves(He is the rudy gay of SG’s lol)…He needs to accept he is now a roleplayer/bench player except on a really bad team…Especially if you want to win it all.
As for what to do with this team it all depends on if you can right the ship quickly if by about game 10/15 things haven’t improved/shown signs of improving you try the following:
You need to get a bigger Shooting guard to play with Teague you can’t have 2 small guards in the backcourt and as you will get scored on easily..You could try PG at SG if that works(I think they have used him there don’t know how it went). But that brings me to the next point I make
You try trade for a Sf/SG: If PG is great at SG you trade for a SF to replace him,if he is average or not a longterm solution at Sg then you go after a SG.. Teams that maybe a realistic option: Washington,New orleans,Cleveland,Dallas(the may want him back for bench depth) and 76ers. Or you could try another team but most other deals would probably include a protected pick of some nature to take on Montas contract..
This brings you to the following roster:
Miles Turner,Thad young,PG or Sf you trade for,Pg or bigger Sg you trade for and Jeff Teague
Bench: Al jefferson,Rodney stuckey,Kevin Seraphin and whoever else is left on the team after the trade..

IndianaBasketballParticipantDefense is a MAJOR problem. Their P&R defense is trash. They’re just flat out AWFUL defensively right now. Dan Burke has his hands full.
I’m being patient though, especially with Teague. He was limited all summer with a knee injury and I don’t think he has his legs 100% under him just yet.
I don’t think Bird is done making moves…

MatosParticipantMan they need to get some talent around Paul George. I like Jeff Teague, but you would then need to compliment Teague & PG with a 3&D player at the 2-position. Myles Turner will be a nice big man moving forward, but im not big on Thad at the PF spot if this team has aspirations of contending moving forward.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI agree with you about the Pacers needing a 3 and D player at the two. Monta just isn’t that guy. I thought GR3 could be that guy, especially after a great summer and training camp… But he plays with zero confidence and aggression. It’s so sad smh. He had a GREAT opportunity and looks to have lost it at the moment.
I like Thad tho. He doesn’t do anything great, but does a lot well. You never have to call a play for him. He’s solid defensively and guards in the post or the perimeter. I just wish he was a better 3 point shooter.
